We travelled to the Royalton from Ontario as a double family of 8. 4 adults and 4 kids. We had booked the splash resort but opted to upgrade to the diamond club as it was economical that gave us access to all grounds of the resort except for the hideaway adults only of course.

Butler:
We had Edwin for the week. He was pleasant, professional and was quick to respond when we had questions about anything. He helped book our restaurants for the week and also helped me source aloe Vera cream from an off resort drugstore because the resort didn’t have any instock. Great guy he was, I recommend him forsure!

Rooms:
Initially they gave us room 29232 which when we entered had a horrible musty and swampy smell. It was either because it hasn’t been used in a while or because it faced the boggy swamp in behind the building. We had Edwin our butler have our room chafed to across the hall in 29233 which faced the water park. Room was decent size, had its little issues like bathroom door could t close unless it was slightly lifted.. minor stuff really.

Food:
Food was much better in the punta cana side. Splash side buffet has much more options. Restaurants were decent and all catered to my sons food allergies. No issues. The diamond club did arrange a night bbq dinner in the beach which was great!

Entertainment:
We didn’t see much in the theatre and spent most evening just chilling outside in the squares around the resort.

Pools:
Spent most pool days at the splash main pool. Vibe was good but subtle. Bar was good, enough chairs for all except you obviously need to reserve the ones with umbrellas before 7am.

Beach:
Spent a few days at the beach and rented a cabana for one of them. Sand was great and water was warm but big waves this time around so my kids didn’t get to venture out much but it’s a beauty beach and that’s all you can say.

Checkin/check out:

Check in was great. At the diamond club lounge they had an assortment of bits and bites and drinks of course. We were all checked in 30 mins.

Check out was a nightmare. We reserved the cabana for our 6th day there and when we did we were given these resort vouchers that would save us $25 off the $100 they charge for the cabana. 1. Not letting us know when we checked in about these resort credits was pretty ignorant on their end. You should be telling your guests about this as they check in but it’s their way of keeping that a secret. 2. They didn’t want to honour the discount from the voucher when we checked out because we didn’t physically hand the voucher to the girl who booked our cabana. None of this was discussed to us and their poor lack of communication caused them to be in the wrong. They were fighting us over this 25$ voucher for 30 mins it wasn’t even about the money at this point anymore. It was principal. They were wrong and their customer was right so they should have just fixed it. In the end after exhausting ourselves they finally gave in. What a joke they are there!! That left a bad taste in our mouth and because of that we won’t be going back there ever again.

All in all great family vacay and getting away from all the COVID crazy was a great mental break from it all and we had a great time.

I observed or experienced many of the comments in the 1 and 2 star ratings except for the COVID scam.

I like to start with Pros:
The property is modern and spacious. You have access to both properties which I did not expect. Plenty of pools. The Splash property has a huge buffet. The food is pretty good until you get bored on day 5. The room was clean and refreshed daily with soda and water in the mini fridge. The tram was convenient. Ranged from 10-20min wait. I loved the diversity of guests from around the world. I should also add that we are RCI members and usually stay at RCI properties so this non RCI property was new to us.

Now on to the negative:
I never felt like such an inconvenience to 90% of the employees at this property. I realized early on that I was not at an RCI property. First incident in the first 24 hours. When we pre-registered online I asked for joining rooms. He gave us rooms on 2 different floors of the same building and expected me to be ok with my kids being in a separate room. After begging for attached rooms he gave us rooms next to each other. Second incident in the first 24 hours. When I approached the excursion desk in the lobby, she ignored me and continued her conversation with her co-worker for 10 minutes. I was honestly confused. I didn't interrupt. She honestly gave me the look of "what the hell do you want". Third incident in the first 24 hours. Burger spot. The cook looked over his shoulder, looked me up and down, turned around and kept cutting tomato's. That's when I realized these people don't care and you have to demand service.

They don't follow the activity schedule. I told my son we were going to a mini pirate party and walked into a karaoke party. They don't even attempt to follow the schedule they have posted. The employees can't even explain what restaurants can be accessed by Splash and PC guests. Some restaurants are reservations and some are walk up. When you ask someone at the front desk, they give you wrong information. The whole place is disorganized.

I honestly couldn't wait to leave. Your also not safe if you are diamond club. I heard some of the butlers were horrible. Tipping doesn't help either. The staff honestly doesn't care. I saw zero motivation for anyone to make your vacation enjoyable and they didn't care. Maybe this is the new post covid reality.

Room tip: Building 21 is the farthest building to everything on property. If you want to get your steps in request building 21.

Second time at the Royalton Splash and although COVID has had an impact, we still had a very good family holiday.

The staff are the best part of the hotel and there a number of them I’d like to highlight for making our holiday special.

In the buffet restaurant Maykel & Francheska were amazing and really looked after us. Jimmy was also a great character and the team who seated us for each meal were very friendly - Jissel, Daniela and Bethania. My son also wanted to shout out Herbeto who served him his pasta most days!

Martha in the Social bar was fantastic and made sure we had a good time. Ably assisted by Edwin, Mervin and Ruver at the bar.

Carolina at the cafe also remembered my order and had it ready by the time I got to the front of the queue!

Yikex, Mercedes and Luisa made sure the kids enjoyed the kids club and Nerio played lots of activities.

It was good to see Pablo again although he’s no longer part of the vibe team, he still helped us to have a good holiday and finally Francis kept our mini bar well stocked!

We had an amazing time at Royalton Splash and Royalton Punta Cana! The resorts were beautiful, the staff helpful and friendly, and the food delicious! We highly recommend upgrading to Diamond Club to get the most out of the experience! Our butler, Denis, took such great care of us! Ruth and Fernanda in the DC Lounge were so sweet and accommodating.

Room tip: Royalton Splash is not on the beach, it has the waterpark and you have access to the beach through Royalton Punta Cana.
