My wife and I are blessed to travel the World in retirement, and we try to stay in places a week or more. We have not been to Tel Avic since 1997, so we wanted to spend a week here in the Spring this year to get to know the city a bit. It's a huge city, so trying to decide where to stay is a challenge, but we knew it had to be in Jaffa. We almost booked 5-star hotels at 800 dollars a night, but at the last minute I saw a review on Trip Advisor for an attractive looking Boutique Hotel (The Margosa) for around 250 US dollars a night (for the larger suite), so I booked it for 7 nights. I'm glad I did, because the Margosa hotel is a wonderful location and a really fantastic hotel.
The room we had was way bigger that the rooms would be at the top-end (veryt expensive) hotels, and the breakfast was spectacular. The rooms are of course spotlessly clean, and we also had a very large balcony.
We have spent 40 nights in hotels during this trip so far and the Margosa was our most pleasant experience so far. The breakfast really was truly incredible and was really like a full brunch with some incredible dishes. The Chef is a good one for sure.
One interesting thing they offer is a permanently stocked leisure room area with coffee, tea, professional-level expresso machine, snacks, croissants, fresh fruit drinks and ice-cold mineral water all for free 24-7. That is really impressive and not many hotels do this. Israel is expensive, so I think we probably drank about a bazillion Shekels worth of fantastic coffee that week and I got fat eating all of those delicious free pastries.
Anyway, we loved this place. I had a slight dispute with the front desk on the charges at check-out (because of some last-minute booking confusion) but it all worked out.
This place is wonderful.
