First of all, I know I'm not easy to please. I must also say that I use a cane because of a temporary disability. We checked in and were given a second floor window at my request. The room wasn't the greatest. The balcony was tiny, the mini-fridge wasn't cold, and the air conditioner vents could not be adjusted. I thought this stay was going to be a bust. Then we talked to the manager. He put us on the first floor and had another bed brought in. The manger's ability to please us was what turned this stay around. The room was huge, the kitchenette had everything we needed, and the patio was steps to the pool. So, our stay improved immensely. The restaurant was fine. It was kind of strange that the free breakfast didn't begin until 8:30. It was a "tipico" breakfast with eggs, cheese, cream, beans, dry toast, coffee, and juice--very simple and plain. Dinner, however, was another matter. We ordered shrimp, conch, and fish epanizado for two, but it was plenty for three. It was a fantastic meal!
The staff was excellent--very helpful and friendly. The rooms are large and clean. My only complaint is that the air conditioner, though plenty cold, was very loud because it was so old. My only other quibble was that Grissy's is not on the beach; it is one row of houses back, and there is no beach view. Plus, I had to drive the short distance to the beach because of my disability. Plus, there are no beach chairs or umbrellas, not even for rent. All in all however, we will go back.
