Great location, funky hotel

Reviewed Oct 29, 2019
This hotel is located in old Jaffa , a very fun vibrant area. The hotel is comprised of suites in a very old apartment building that has been spiffed up quite a lot. We had a very large apartment with living room, kitchen, separate bedroom, huge deck and private bath. I would describe the hotel as shabby-chic. It's not the Hilton, so you have to enjoy it for its 15 foot ceilings, it's old floor tiles and funky windows, it's just a fun place. We are in our 70'ies and a young man brought our bags up to the room, which was great. The long stairwell upstairs was like a long tunnel in a castle. We enjoyed that, too.
Date of stay: October 2019
Room Tip: We had a huge suite on the floor above ground level. It was fun!

This place was a godsend when we arrived prior to a pre-booked tour of Israel.
A very nice lady (I think her name was "almond" in Hebrew) got us our room prior to official check-in time. As we had just arrived from Australia feeling a little jaded, we appreciated her efforts very much. She also found us quite a reasonable taxi fare to Jerusalem the next day.
It is brilliant to have Beit Eshel as a landing point as it is in the heart of things. We had a balcony and could watch the world go to and fro down on the street.
Very spacious one-bedroom apartment. Not 100% spotless ,and hence not a 5 star for me, but the house has a lovely faded glory, faded yes, glory yes. We liked the feeling of it, so much nicer than a sterile modern hotel.
It was expensive, but we came at the time of the Eurovision contest, so maybe that explains it.

Room tip: Room with balcony is noisier but so nice to watch the world go by. Corner apartment good.

I am an experienced traveler who has stayed in all sorts of accommodations and realize this place was a good deal for the Shekel, but I won't go back. Pluses- great location in old Yafo near the beach and walking distance to the shuk (market), boardwalk, good eats and historic architecture. However, room was tiny and smelled of sewage, bed was rock-hard and the staff was less than helpful and never there, particularly after 4 pm. There are lots of narrow, steep stairs to apts. and would be impossible for the elderly or disabled - no elevator. Pack light if u stay here.

The issue with this place that it requires a lick of paint and can turn to a great accommodation. The location is excellent, rooms are great size , close to the beach and Flea market with all trendy shops however a bit shabby . We spend here 2 nights. As it was Eurovision- Thursday night (semifinal night) was very busy outside. Lots of people till about 2 in the morning. Not so great if you want to sleep I guess. It was ok for us as we just arrived that evening and wanted to go out anyway

Cityinn is probably an old apartment building directly converted into a hotel. Don't expect anything fancy, however - bed was comfy and clean, complimentary coffe and kitchenette, TV and en suite and all of this for the best price in all of Tel Aviv!
Oh, and did I mention the staff? Very sweet and helpful!

I won't be using other places than Cityinn when visiting Te Aviv again!

This is a tiny, but clean apartment in a great location for exploring Jaffa. I would give it another star in my rating except for an incident with the staff. We were told we could set up a taxi if we came to the desk at 8 am, and the sign in the room says someone is in the office every day at 8. At 8:15 there was noone there. We had planned to be in Tel Aviv all day so needed to take care of this at that time. We pressed the intercom and we're angrily told he would be there at 9. There was no explanation or apology. We came back mid afternoon and it was taken care.
