My wife and I sought out an adventure to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and her 50th birthday. We landed on Pelican Reef Villas and had a nearly perfect get-away.
After we reserved our room, I exchanged some where around 20 emails with Tristian as we planned different activities and outings. Each and every email received prompt attention as we scheduled (and often rescheduled) trips to the Mayan ruins, ziplining, fly fishing, Belizean domestic air travel, and when we reserved a golf cart for our transportation while on the island. Tristian made (and revised) reservations for our celebratory dinners. His attitude throughout this process was so great: upbeat, enthusiastic for our trip, and oriented toward great customer service.
When we arrived at the Villas via PRV’s van, we were welcomed warmly and had a nicely decorated room wishing my wife a happy birthday! From the very start, Tony (who greeted us at our arrival), Cindy (who helped with questions throughout the week) and Esteban were as attentive as Tristian to make sure we had a great escape. They oriented us to the property, helped with directions to locations north of the Villas, and were just super friendly throughout the week.
A special shout out to Esteban and his crew at The Nest. We had dinner there the night we arrived, and we enjoyed breakfast there each morning (breakfasts are included in your stay). He really made meal time an easy pleasure with his prompt and attentive service.
I also appreciated the Villas’ approach toward tipping. The resort has a wooden box on the bar of The Nest. Rather than tip individual servers, they ask visitors to put the tip in the box and the tips will be shared amongst the staff. To be honest, it removes the awkwardness of “how much should I tip for getting my bags to the room?” or offering a tip at the bar. While this may be a more standard practice than I realize, it just really made tipping a more customer-friendly approach.
I won’t detail out each and every day’s activities. Suffice to say that each outing was successfully planned, the smallest of details were taken care of, travel to and from Pelican Reef Villas was efficient and punctual. The team at Tuff-E-Nuff, who did our Mayan ruins and ziplining adventure, was great. The drive time to get from PRV to the ruins was long – but we also traveled through four different ecosystems to get inland. From our perspective, the journey was well worth it. The ruins were spectacular, and we ziplined in a downpour in a rainforest. How great is that!?
So, when I started typing this review, I titled it “Nearly Perfect.” I figured that during the writing, I would recall something that wasn’t perfect. Nope. Didn’t happen. Anything that came to mind was so tiny that it didn’t lower the quality of our stay at all. This was a fantastic vacation and celebration of two milestones in our lives. Perfect.
