Best vacation ever

Reviewed Dec 28, 2022
I don’t even know where to begin. Our time at PRV was out of this world. Our 3 bedroom villas was luxurious, had comfortable beds, huge showers, and an amazing view.

The resort itself is perfect for a quiet, relaxing, fun vacation. Our family enjoyed the small resort feel where you get to know each staff member before it’s time to leave. The PRV staff was so nice and attentive. We could feel that they all truly wanted to make sure we were having the best vacation ever. Tony and Tristan were amazing with making reservations for us for dinner as well as excursions. Definitely book excursions through PRV because you will get picked up right at the PRV dock.

Speaking of the PRV dock, it is the perfect spot to relax with a fruity drink from their bar. Right off the dock is a man made reef where you can snorkel. We saw all kinds of beautiful fish, barracuda, and even an eagle ray right in the PRV snorkel area. My 13 year old son loved it because he always had something exciting to do while the rest of us wanted to just sit and read.

You can also enjoy kayaks and paddle boards from the PRV dock. Elaser was always super helpful and friendly getting us set up on a kayak or paddle board.

The free breakfast every morning was so delicious and such a bargain. PRV also started serving dinner just a week before our arrival and it was great having that option after a long day of snorkeling. All of the food we ate from PRV was just so delicious.

You can tell that Cindy takes great pride in her work at PRV and wants it to be the best resort it can be.

We loved the location of PRV because it was out of the fray and business of the center of San Pedro. We rented a golf cart for the week through PRV and loved having it. We were able to drive all over the island and enjoyed the following spots: Secret beach water park, Truckstop, Hidden Treasure, Estells, Pepperonis, paradise ice cream, etc.

We are already looking forward to trip back to PRV!!

The staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Delicious daily breakfast overlooking the ocean started every day off right. Boat excursions that pick you up from the hotel dock could not be more convenient. Thanks PRV team for making our holiday both relaxing and memorable!

Room tip: Book Tropic Air and ground transport through the hotel staff - makes for easy travel.

My wife and I sought out an adventure to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and her 50th birthday. We landed on Pelican Reef Villas and had a nearly perfect get-away.

After we reserved our room, I exchanged some where around 20 emails with Tristian as we planned different activities and outings. Each and every email received prompt attention as we scheduled (and often rescheduled) trips to the Mayan ruins, ziplining, fly fishing, Belizean domestic air travel, and when we reserved a golf cart for our transportation while on the island. Tristian made (and revised) reservations for our celebratory dinners. His attitude throughout this process was so great: upbeat, enthusiastic for our trip, and oriented toward great customer service.

When we arrived at the Villas via PRV’s van, we were welcomed warmly and had a nicely decorated room wishing my wife a happy birthday! From the very start, Tony (who greeted us at our arrival), Cindy (who helped with questions throughout the week) and Esteban were as attentive as Tristian to make sure we had a great escape. They oriented us to the property, helped with directions to locations north of the Villas, and were just super friendly throughout the week.

A special shout out to Esteban and his crew at The Nest. We had dinner there the night we arrived, and we enjoyed breakfast there each morning (breakfasts are included in your stay). He really made meal time an easy pleasure with his prompt and attentive service.

I also appreciated the Villas’ approach toward tipping. The resort has a wooden box on the bar of The Nest. Rather than tip individual servers, they ask visitors to put the tip in the box and the tips will be shared amongst the staff. To be honest, it removes the awkwardness of “how much should I tip for getting my bags to the room?” or offering a tip at the bar. While this may be a more standard practice than I realize, it just really made tipping a more customer-friendly approach.

I won’t detail out each and every day’s activities. Suffice to say that each outing was successfully planned, the smallest of details were taken care of, travel to and from Pelican Reef Villas was efficient and punctual. The team at Tuff-E-Nuff, who did our Mayan ruins and ziplining adventure, was great. The drive time to get from PRV to the ruins was long – but we also traveled through four different ecosystems to get inland. From our perspective, the journey was well worth it. The ruins were spectacular, and we ziplined in a downpour in a rainforest. How great is that!?

So, when I started typing this review, I titled it “Nearly Perfect.” I figured that during the writing, I would recall something that wasn’t perfect. Nope. Didn’t happen. Anything that came to mind was so tiny that it didn’t lower the quality of our stay at all. This was a fantastic vacation and celebration of two milestones in our lives. Perfect.

Room tip: Bring a good supply of bug spray to the island. In the evening, when you are out to dinner or just exploring, the bugs can be very bitey.

We would give Pelican Reef Villas ten stars if we could. From the moment you walk through the front entryway, everyone there makes you feel welcome & special. Definitely choose the rum punch for your welcome drink! You’ll be hooked. The food, drinks, service, and accommodations were wonderful. Our family never ran out of activities. From cornhole on the beach, to snorkeling off the dock, to relaxing in a hammock. And Tristan was amazing at getting excursions set up for diving, Mayan ruins visit, Caye Caulker visit, and more. We loved every minute of our eight days there!!

Have you ever left a hotel and felt compelled to hug every individual that worked at the resort just to say thank you for how amazing your week was? My husband and I, with our two teenage boys, had the absolute best week in Belize, and it was in very large part thanks to our “family” at the Pelican Reef Villas.

From the moment we booked our stay until we left, every single person at the Pelican reef was nothing but helpful and gracious. They booked our flights from the main land onto the Island, our Golf Cart, and several excursions before we even arrived. One of our favorite excursions was recommended by the staff, the all day private boat (fishing and snorkeling) with a bbq on Caye Caulker. Do not miss doing this excursion!

The best part is you don’t even need to leave the resort to snorkel! We saw Sting Rays, Eagle Rays, turtles, barracuda and so many different species of fish just snorkeling off their pier!

The food at the resort was outstanding. Enjoyed breakfast every day and several dinners. They were so accommodating that on the last day they even delivered breakfast to our room so we could eat before catching an early flight. The spicy margaritas are also a must try.

Rooms were clean, spacious, and had a great AC. We were never warm in our room.

Highly, highly, highly recommend this resort. We can’t wait to go back!!

Room tip: Talk to the hotel about excursions. They will not only book them for you but they know the best people for each tour.

What a wonderful and relaxing week my husband and I spent at Pelican Reef villas! From the moment we arrived and were handed a cool yummy rum punch we knew we had selected the absolute best place to stay. Everyone at Pelican Reef work so hard to ensure your vacation is trouble-free. They succeed! Tristan, Tony and Cindy do a great job looking after their guests. They treat you like family. The bartenders are super sweet! The place is so beautiful! Rooms and bathrooms are spotless and beds are so comfortable too! I just can't express enough how we loved our time here and look forward to coming back. If you were looking for a great vacay...this is it!!!

Room tip: Definitely rent a golf cart!!!
