Ramon's Village Resort is often celebrated for its quintessential tropical vibe and village charm, providing a serene atmosphere that guests adore. The resort's amenities, especially the diving facilities, receive accolades for enriching the stay experience, as does the prime location favored by diving enthusiasts. While rooms are commended for cleanliness and comfort, some visitors have raised concerns over their size and noise levels. Service at the resort is generally well-regarded, with staff members earning praise for their friendliness, although a few guests have encountered inconsistencies. Despite mixed opinions on value, the overall cleanliness and unique ambiance contribute to its appeal.

My husband and I vacationed here for two weeks with three other couples. Overall, our experience was excellent, although Ramon’s is not the type of resort we prefer. I’ll talk more about that later, but first the positives. Absolutely the best thing about Ramon’s is the staff! EVERYONE - waiters, security, housekeepers, dive center staff, maintenance - were helpful, friendly, and fun! They made our vacation! Kudos! We went on several snorkeling and boating excursions, and they all were excellent. Be sure to go on the one to see the manatees! All of the guides were great, and the excursion prices were reasonable. The grounds and beach are beautiful. Plenty of beach chairs and hammocks. We stayed in beachfront bungalows with decks which we all enjoyed. The rooms are pretty basic, and could use some updating, but, personally, I had no problem with them except they were more expensive than fancier beachfront rooms we’ve stayed at other resorts in the Caribbean. A simple iron and ironing board in the room would have been appreciated for the price paid. My husband never got over there wasn’t a TV in the room. Pineapples restaurant had very good food. One of the best restaurants in San Pedro we ate at, and we ate at quite a few! Yes, service was slower than at most resorts, but we found this pretty typical for San Pedro restaurants. People just need to go with the flow and chill out while on vacation. Ramon’s is within walking distance to many beachfront restaurants and ones in town. We rented golf carts, but this is pretty pricey, too. On the downside, only beer and wine is served at Ramon’s. There is a grocery store very close to the resort where we bought food and liquor. There are refrigerators in the rooms. This is the first resort in which we have stayed that was not all-inclusive. We prefer to not worry about the cost of food and drinks. The cost of extras, like basic food, mount up quickly. This may have been our most expensive vacation ever, and we’ve stayed at 5 diamond resorts! Although, we had an enjoyable experience at Ramon’s, we felt we didn’t get much bang for our buck!

Spent the week of Thanksgiving in Ambergris Caye. The resort is so close to the local airport and downtown area that you could walk there, but we were greeted by several staff members of Ramon's who took us over in golf carts.
Pineapples On the Beach serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with both indoor and outdoor seating and the food was fantastic! Never a bad meal, but often they didn't have all of the fruit juices available. Jack was our favorite server, he kept us laughing everyday.
If you catch anything on one of their fishing tours, the restaurant will cook it with sides of veggies and rice for a small fee. And if you do plan a fishing tour, do it at the start of your visit because you can catch ALOT of fish!
The bar, Tropic Al's, serves juices, sodas, smoothies, coffee drinks, beer, and wine. No other alcohol is served at Ramon's but we were ok with that. The bar also has the large flat screen TV as there are no televisions in the rooms. The pool was right next to both the bar and restaurant but with the beach so close it was hardly used. Pool/beach towels could be signed out from the front desk.
We stayed in a beachfront room and the view could not be beat. All rooms have a balcony or deck with chairs for outdoor lounging or letting your swimwear dry out. Rooms were clean and spacious. The only issue was the bathroom door, as you practically had to go into the shower to have enough space to close it.
Most of the tours we did through Ramon's. Joshua and Jairo often led the tours and they and their crews kept us entertained. Great group of guys!
One event comes to mind to show how great the staff at Ramon's is. As our Mayan ruins and cave tubing tour on the mainland was coming to an end and we were heading back to the dock, there was a horrible accident (we were not involved in it) that occurred on the main road that backed traffic up for miles and hours. By the time traffic was going again, we realized we wouldn't get back until late, no one had ate dinner, and we had kids and seniors with us. Joshua, who was with us, called the resort to let them know our situation and the restaurant manager kept the restaurant open a half hour later so we could have dinner onsite. I write this not to make light of the tragedy of that accident but to commend the staff at Ramon's for going above and beyond for us.
Ramon's was an amazing place and we highly recommend it for those staying on Ambergris Caye.

Comfortable stay on Ambergris Caye. Our room had a queen and two twins beds. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean but is showing its age with a lot of wear and tear especially in the bathroom. The onsite restaurant was convenient and overall good. Not going to blow your mind though. Hotel located within walking distance to many better restaurants on the beach and several close grocery stores.

Beach was private, uncrowded with plenty of seating, lounge chairs and hammocks. This is another area that one really needs to send the extra money on a beach front property. No beach access unless you are staying at a beach front hotel. Will totally make or break your trip. Truthfully, town was not much to look at and you will be disappointed if you stay anywhere else but a beachfront hotel. The pool was nice and the grounds were lovely. Staff helpful and friendly.

Onsite snorkeling/dive shop. This is my favorite type of convenience when traveling with kids. Just walk seconds from the room to the dock for gear and boat pick up. Guides were friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Great service, highly recommend.

Also, totally fun, people rent golf carts and drive all around the island. There aren’t any cars. We rented an electric golf cart from Ramones (another easy convenience) and toured around. The electric cart was great for us because there were no emissions/ smell but my kids were dismayed when all the gas carts were passing us! LOL

Thank you for being our guest at Ramon's Village Resort. One of our specialties is convenience. In just a few steps we can have you touring Maya Ruins or diving the Great Blue Hole or maybe enjoying a massage at our Beach Spa. The Electric Golf Car is a great way to see our beautiful island. They are both quiet and clean running, although a bit slower. Thank you for the great review. We'll look forward to seeing you again soon.

My wife and I traveled to Belize on a "belated" honeymoon this February. We are actually at the airport (BZE) right now and killing time before our flight. We thought we'd leave a few reviews as reading reviews were very helpful for us when choosing where to stay in Belize (we stayed in San Pedro and in Cayo District).

We flew in to BZE and then grabbed a cab who took us to the water taxi. When we got off the water tax, we were picked up by someone at Ramon's Village. Ramon's is very close to town and everything that is convenient about that (restaurants, grocery, coffee, etc.) but secluded enough to not feel like we were "in town". From Ramon's you can actually walk to downtown San Pedro via the road or the beach. The road is pretty congested and there are not many sidewalks to speak of. For that reason we typically walked down the beach and then cut in towards town.

The beach at Ramon's is kept very clean and tidy. There are crews that take away the seaweed that washes ashore and they go so far as sweeping the sand. The beach chairs were very nice, the restaurant/pool/deck/gift shop area was awesome and the diving operation they had is sought out by a lot of tourists in the area (we did not partake, but there were plentiful boats that were kept in pristine condition and the pier was massive with shops and huts on it). They also have their own security though from what we saw it wasn't necessarily needed.

The staff was superb. We used them for advice and they even helped us find a driver to take us from the water taxi in Belize City to our next stop (Cayo District). There was free yoga that we took advantage of and even the woman who ran the gift shop bent over backwards (sold us a stamp with postcard and then mailed it for us). The restaurant staff was awesome and the food there was great. We felt obligated to go out and try the local cuisine but we could very well have been happy eating there every night. The restaurant is on the deck and right on the beach.

If we had any gripes, the only thing that comes to mind is the comfort of the mattresses and the pillows. Both of us had a hard time sleeping and where sometimes sort in the morning. Other than that, this place is a winner... especially at the price point.

Attentive people servicing the rooms and at the front desk. Everyone is friendly and very nice. Very laid back resort. Rooms are definitely outdated, nothing special. Had a problem getting our shower to be hot, room maintenance arrived quickly and showed us how to get the hot water to work in the shower. On going problem was during the course of any shower hot water was intermittent. It would get scalding hot, then cold, with very limited water pressure. Spoiled American for sure, but a steady stream of hot water would have been nice. We had breakfast daily as part of our package. The restaurant, Pineapples, very convenient with lots of staff hanging around. All very nice and friendly people, but getting someone to fill up a water glass or refill our coffee in the morning was difficult. In fact, on the last day, my wife got tired of waiting and went and found her own coffee fill up. Like I said lots staff standing around, would have been good to assign someone coffee and water duty to make sure glass and cups stayed full. Additionally, 50-50 chance that coffee refills were hot. Food quality and taste was fine. There are literally dozens of better food options walking up the beach north into San Pedro. I did some diving and snorkeling with the Ramon's group. Excellent high quality Dive masters and excursion leaders. Still they are very laid back no hurry no worry type group but they knew what they were doing and ran good dives both safety and quality.

Very helpful, nice staff who picked us up at the ferry dock and took us to our next resort location for free. We stayed at their other property, Steve and Becky's, which is still part of Ramon's but across the street. Cute little bungalow houses with a pool. The only problem is the golf-cart traffic in San Pedro is insane, so crossing the street to go to the resort was a little dangerous and kind of kills your vibe. They should tell you this when booking the room. The resort itself is gorgeous with a big pool, lounge chairs on the beach, hammocks and a nice cultivated swimming area. Pineapples, their restaurant, had excellent smoothies and food but was a little pricey. The tours from Ramon's Dive Shop are also a little expensive and during the holiday season, they were booked up pretty fast. The dock is awesome though, goes way out and is lit up blue at night so you can always find your way home. Also really cool to watch the fish swimming under the dock at night.

Thank you so much for being our guest and for the wonderful review. We apologize for the traffic, however, the town has just completed a pedestrian crosswalk next to our main entrance which has made it much easier to cross the street. Other than that is sounds like you had a great time and we hope to see you back soon.

My husband and I have been visiting Ramon’s Village Resort for over 30 years, primarily for the world class diving on the world’s second largest barrier reef but this trip we left our dive gear at home and went fishing. They offer a variety of fishing options, deep sea, reef, fly fishing and what I call “girly” fishing. The guides bait your hook, you real in your catch, and they take the fish off of your hook so you never have to touch the fish! They also clean and fillet your catch. We opted for a half day trip on a fast and super clean boat with a head. After all, if you’re going to drink a few Belikins, a boat with a head is a plus for us ladies! We had a blast with experienced and fun guides, Jairo and Will and caught about 30 keepers, mostly snappers, and lost just as many! My husband pulled up a few Champagne snappers outside of the reef using a hand-line that was dropped 300’ to the bottom. I caught a barracuda using bait that floated on the surface. We also tried reef fishing at 5-6 locations all around the island! We took the cleaned and filleted catch to Chef Rommie Kie at Pineapples on the Beach, who prepared it several ways that night for dinner. Eating our fresh and deliciously prepared catch was another bonus! We invited several friends to join us and our one friend and daughter confessed to me that they don’t even like fish but said this meal was one of the best they ever had! It just doesn’t get any better than that! Check out a picture of us on Ramon’s website, “From Hook to Cook”. If interested, just talk to Rick at Ramon’s dive shop and he will make your custom tailored day of fishing for you! Special thanks to Jairo and Will for such a memorable and fun day!

The staff is not very warm or helpful. The only brochures in the lobby are religious materials and a plaque in the restaurant saying it was also a baptist church site at the hotel. Come to find out, NO hard alcohol is served; only beer and wine on-site at Ramon's Village. Most importantly, we were not given ANY information upon arrival, and had to find our own room.... where there was also no schedule or information. We had no idea what activities such as yoga and sailing were offered and booked our activities elsewhere. We missed out on several *free* activities and meals offered at the hotel because we were unaware of their programming or resturant hours. Everything takes a long time at Ramon's, our meals were cold and there was a limited menu when we were able to catch a meal. Our overall stay at Ramon's was a very disappointing experience since it was literally 3x as much to stay at Ramon's as all the other beachfront properties in San Pedro that are close to downtown. If you choose to stay here - ask them for an activity schedule and the restaurant hours upon your arrival so you can maximize your experience since they only seem to be looking out for your money, not your time or value of your experience at Ramon's.

We are very sorry to learn that you were disappointed by the presence of Christian Tracks and New Testaments in our lobby. Our check in procedure generally includes information on hours of operations for different departments and a description of services available to our guests. We also provide that information in booklets kept in each room. again we are sorry if we failed to properly convey the services available.

This is a tricky place to review because while it's perfectly fine in a number of areas, there's an overall phony "cruise ship" vibe that persists across much of the staff that can be quite off-putting. Our room (the honeymoon suite) was quite comfortable and the dive shop and fishing guides, Wilson and Hira (sp?) were outstanding. Much of the restaurant staff was exceptional as well. And the kitchen cooked up our fish wonderfully.

Yet there are peculiarities about this resort that don't gel. For starters, not only is the in-room coffee Maxwell House, but also at the restaurant. This is expected at a Motel 6, but not when paying $300/night. It's a small thing that really makes a difference. Similarly, the lack of tables near the chaises on the beach is really unfortunate. When paying $15 BZ for a smoothie, it's not terribly fun to risk spilling it in the sand due to lack of a table.

It's also worth noting that the resort only serves wine/beer. Those expecting to sip tropical cocktails on the beach need go elsewhere.

Ultimately, Ramon's is a fine resort, with some really nice aspects, but also feels a bit tired/dated. I'd be willing to give them another shot in the future, but San Pedro was the least enjoyable part of Belize we visited and would recommend skipping it entirely.

Staying at Ramon's Village Resort was the best decision we made when we booked our trip to Belize. Eizer (I definitely am spelling his name wrong) the hotel manager was the sweetest man. He was constantly trying to make sure us and our friends were taken care of. We loved Jack, Chris, Jorge, Ron, and so many that I cannot name. They worked at Pineapples, the restaurant on the resort, and we loved their hospitality. Jack remembered our names and told funny jokes throughout our stay. The entire team at Ramon's is taking Covid seriously and all were wearing masks, everything was sanitized well, and the resort was exceptionally clean. I have not been so pampered, and felt so at home than I have by the Ramon's Village staff. There was a mixup with our massage time one day and they bent over backwards to make it happen at the originally planned time even though they didn't have any availability. They called in another massage therapist and did our 11am couples massage on time and it was wonderful. We highly recommend the half day fishing charter. Tino was amazing and we became fast friends. My husband and I have stayed at so many places in our travels (we travel for a living) and Ramon's service was on par with what I would expect at a St. Regis hotel. The only hotel I can compare the level of service to is the St. Regis in Aspen. Honestly, we'll be back and are already planning our trip. You won't be disappointed in this place. It's fantastic!

The diving is about 15 minutes away from the beach, on the other side of the barrier reef. The reef is too shallow to dive near the beach. They take you on a boat out to the dive site for each tank.
