Hotel's Favourite
Totally different from our typical large resort vacation, we absolutely loved our stay at Pelican Reef Villas! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful and quiet location with excellent service by amazing staff.

Our family of 5 stayed here for our first time visiting Belize. Husband and I plus our 3 active teen daughters (17-18-19). We booked the “garden view” 3-bedroom/3-bath suite with a few weeks notice. I can see how the ocean view rooms would be amazing, but you can still see the ocean and pier from #24. Our 3 daughters shared the Master Suite on the top floor. They loved the seclusion up there, the room was very spacious, double sink bathroom, separate walk in shower and their own jacuzzi tub. They were like princesses in the tower.

The rest of the suite was very well appointed- a/c was strong, fans in every room, spacious living room and dining area, full kitchen with good selection of cooking utensils. Knowing that we were visiting during “Green” season we planned for some rainy days/evenings to cook in and hang out in our suite. Plus we enjoy late-night munchies- having a kitchen is a priority.

PRV is a couple miles south of town. Strongly recommend that you rent a golf cart if you stay here! It looks so close to town on the map but it’s a good 15 minute golf cart ride to get into town. The first half mile or so is on a dirt road with lots of potholes— the streets in town are cobblestones. At night it does get dark on the dirt road but you can’t get lost— it’s just one road in/out. After a few days, our daughters felt safe enough to take the cart into town on their own. Besides going into town for dinners or shopping, all of our excursion pickups were directly from our doorstep or pier, even our golf cart rental was dropped off/picked up from PRV. So convenient!

Sunbathing on the pier was so serene. You can take a dip in the water from there, snorkel, use one of the resorts (free) kayaks or paddle boards. Also… the staff will bring your drinks and food out there! The beach is just as nice and peaceful too. I do recommend getting a massage on the beach! Note this not a walk up/swimmable beach— to get in the water you need to go to the end of the pier which is apparently typical for the entire island.

We enjoyed the small infinity pool and swim up bar as well.

So you get the jist— it’s a small resort with all the features of a big luxury property but with a more local, chill, friendly vibe.

But the main reason for this 5-star review is the service and staff! Tristian is awesome with his email correspondence during the planning. Tristian, Tony and Cindy provided top notch concierge services— they provided great recommendations, we simply told them what we wanted to do and they took care of all the bookings for excursions and dinner reservations.

Enrique is amazing! Eli, Byron and Steve were also all super friendly. Attentive service at the bar, poolside, and for breakfast/lunch too… great conversations, yummy cocktails, all of them went out of their way to make our stay memorable!

Thank you PRV! We can attest to why you’re rated #1! We will absolutely stay here again!

Room Tip: Golf cart rental is a must! The bug/mosquito spray they provide works wonders. Stop by the bar...

We had such a blast during our trip to San Pedro and Pelican Reef was the highlight! It was beautiful, clean, organized, and communication with staff was excellent. Tristian was so great in helping organize our stay (including transport to/from Belize City airport and coordinating Covid test for us) and helped us plan so many fun excursions to snorkel and fish (the boats pick you up for the excursions right from the resort dock!). We were celebrating a birthday and Tristian organized room decorations and the staff even baked a birthday cake! The resort has a beautiful pool and beach area, a fun reef you can snorkel in, an awesome bar with delicious drinks, and the villas are spacious, clean, and beautiful. The restaurant has amazing breakfast (included!) and lunch! The resort offers golf cart rentals on site for a fair price. The location is nice as it is a little outside of the downtown area so it is quieter but only a short golf cart ride to the heart of the town. Overall, we had the best time and cannot wait to plan our next trip back!! Covid restrictions including masks, sanitizer, and cleaning were strictly adhered to as well and we felt very safe!

Everything from the start, from making our reservations, booking our flights, shuttles, excursions, dinner reservations to all the questions asked in between, this resort took care of it all! The staff is amazing! If you are worried about packing shampoo, conditioner, lotion, it’s all in your room. They have bottles of sunscreen, bug spray and aloe out for everyone to use. The rooms are beautiful and well kept. The complimentary breakfast menu is full of delicious choices. It was so nice to start our day out with a relaxing breakfast before we set out exploring the island! The beach is kept up beautifully with comfortable lounge chairs and all villas are close, so you feel like you’re right on the beach. Thanks for making us feel like family at the Pelican Reef ❤️

Our family of four spent the last five nights of our eight night trip to Belize at Pelican Reef Villas on Ambergris Caye. The property is very well maintained and the location on the beach was absolutely beautiful to wake up to each morning. We loved how easy it was to get to and from our ocean excursions directly from their property pier. The two bedroom, two bath, villa was exactly what we needed with two teenage daughters in tow. The food was good but we also liked being able to cook and have snacks using our full kitchen. The bar and seating area by the pool were very handy and comfortable to hang out. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Tristan and the crew took care of everything. We didn’t have to worry about the details of making arrangements for day trips or transportation to the airport. It’s handled. Love this place and will stay here again if we return. Hopefully sooner than later!

We just got back from PRV & it was honestly the best. Tristian was amazing! If you need anything, he will take care of it for you. He will set you up with the best tour operators, handle your COVID tests, restaurant reservations, transportation to/from the airport and answer any questions you could possibly have. It was honestly the best service. We stayed in unit 6 (3 bed/bath) & it was fantastic, which was beachfront & had a great view of the pier. The unit had everything you would need, including a blender, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. On the 1st floor there is a master bedroom and bathroom with king bed and access to 2 balconies. There is also another room with I think a queen bed and its own bathroom. Upstairs was a huge bedroom with king bed & open bathroom with tub and shower & great view of the ocean. The breakfast that comes with the rate was really good too. I personally loved the banana pancakes and fry jacks if you want a side. They have great chips, guacamole & salsa too in addition to yummy drinks. Enrique and his son Nayeem (sp ?) were fantastic bartenders. Tristian scheduled a beach massage for me & one for my son for his birthday with Juanita and it was so nice out there on the beach with the breeze blowing. Tristian also had our room decorated & a birthday cake surprise for my son's birthday, which was such a special treat.

The location is south on the island and about a 10-15 min golf cart ride into town. At first we thought the next time we come for vacation we would stay closer to town, but as we realized the drive wasn't bad & once we looked at the other resorts closer to town, PRV is honestly the best property we thought. Even though you don't have a beach you can walk in the water, you can still layout out in the chairs on the sandy beach or on the pier, so it didn't really matter. There was a sea wall, which most properties have, but better because it keeps the seaweed off the beach. It is very spacious & great for my 3 teenage boys who played catch with the football and baseball. The other resorts don't have the space on the beach that I could see and just the property itself is really nice and quiet too.

I can't recommend PRV and their staff enough. They made it the best vacation!

From the moment we arrived we were treated with a+++ service, the music was jumping the staff was friendly and our 3 bedroom 3 bathroom suite was perfect for our stay. Breakfast is included in your stay def try the banana pancakes, I've been trying to make them myself since I arrived home epic fail lol. Def rent a golf cart (available on site and head to secret beach), Restaurants are within walking distant but to get to the popular places such as Palapa you'll need to call a taxi or rent a cart, bicycles are available to rent but wouldn't advise riding at night extremely dark roads.

The water is swimmable and only reached to about 4ft. The beach is rocky so don't forget your beach shoes. Everything I ordered from the drinks to the food was all delicious (breakfast and lunch is served)The manager is former military and he runs a tight ship!

My only Con is the master suite bathroom has no privacy and is very small, toilet has doors that swing open as if your entering a saloon, and there's only one bedroom on the first floor with a balcony with the best view but there is also a balcony in the living that you can sit out on if your not lucky enough to get that front room

Pelican Reef exceeded all of our expectations! The rooms are beautiful and every day we returned they were spotless. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and you can see Steve taking the time to pick up leaves and treat the location like it is his home. The service at the bar/restaurant is great—they learned all of our names very quickly. Everyone at the concierge desk was helpful and their local knowledge was accurate and useful. We returned from our trip yesterday can not wait until we can go back to Pelican Reef.

Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful accommodations. Beach front condo. Comfortable bed. Immaculate condition
Staff was overwhelmingly friendly and did everything to make our stay perfect. Helped set up all excursions. Pelican villa is several miles from town so more tranquil than in San Pedro. We had driver available anytime we wanted to go into town for reasonable $10 per way
Great breakfast and lunch menu at poolside
Would definitely recommend without hesitation

Our stay at Pelican Reef Villas was incredible. We stayed 4 nights 12/30/20-1/3/21. Tris was extremely helpful in getting making sure our stay was smooth and geared towards our interests. He contacted us ahead of our arrival to communicate our transportation to the resort and any excursions we were interested in. We arrived via ferry and had a driver waiting for us that transported us to the resort. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and drink! Tris was extremely helpful helping us plan our dinner the first night- delivery, or transportation to a restaurant.
The 2 bedroom villa was more than we expected. Very clean and stocked with anything you would need Including laundry detergent for the washer/dryer in the unit, AC, cable, jetted tub, great balcony and fully equipped kitchen. Very safe!
Breakfast was included in our stay and it was amazing! The chorizo tacos were our favorite. The swim up bar and pool are beautiful. The bartenders were the best. There's a pier with lounge chairs and hammocks. For our excursions were picked up right outside the hotel on the dock. Tris was very helpful in getting that planned as well as a golf cart rental.
Bikes are also available to use. There's a few great bars and restaurants walking or biking distance. With a golf cart we explored further areas on the island Including secret beach. Currently there is an 8pm curfew on the island and masks are required at all times Including when riding around on the golf cart and are strictly enforced
We chose to take a flight back to Belize city instead of the ferry when we departed. Would definitely recommend the 15 min flight over the
90 min crowded ferry ride.
There is nothing negative I can say about our stay at Pelican Reef Villas. Great location just south of town, safe and warm. Would highly recommend and would definitely return in the future.

Spent 4 nights here with my family in Mid November 2021. Tristan and his staff were super attentive and exhibited superior hospitality. Their cool calm island vibe did not hinder them from being efficient, capable, and super helpful to us during our stay. Tristan has the uncanny ability to take care of all your needs like a concierge without writing anything down. He does what he says he will do for you cooly, reliably and efficiently. All his recommendations for excursions and dining were spot on. I have never utilized a concierge before and it was so painless and the results so awesome.

The property is immaculate. The pool was clean and perfectly refreshing. There are about 24 condos. Ours was #4 on the second floor, beachfront and worth the extra money for the two balconies overlooking the beach and the sea. The condo was clean, opulent, spacious comfortable and classy and fully equipped. We didn't do any cooking as the included breakfasts were excellent and filling with traditional and local fare available. Lunches and bar drinks were nice too and not crazy expensive.

The beach is "man made" with a bulkhead so the sand is hard packed so leave your castle making supplies at home. The ocean water is warm, spotlessly clear, and the shadows you see in the photos are not rocks but soft sea grass in soft sand. The water is very shallow, say 4.5 feet for dozens of yards out so you don't even need fins to snorkel off their dock. Bring your gear because within 10 minutes on checking in, you can swim off the dock and explore their man made reef off the dock and see: octopi, eel, stingray, turtles, and thousands of fish. I snorkled every morning and every evening and was never disappointed or bored with the abundant sea life in 5 feet of water 10 feet from the dock. A great place to intro your little ones to the magic of the sea.

The resort is a tad remote south from the bustling "town" of San Pedro but golf cart rental right at PRV is the way to go and easy to do, we only rented one for a day to go to Secret Beach and took a cab two other times. All easy and cheap. There is a small convenience store about a 10 minute walk up and a couple of restaurants walkable (or use the free bikes) but you'll need better transport to get all the way into town. For you insect sensitive folks, there was a strange phenomenon allover the island when the sun sets, the bugs come out for about 40 minutes with a vengeance but then they are gone. Just a heads up.

San Pedro, the reef system, Caulker Caye renewed my faith in the Caribbean experience of old with true island vibes, no McDonalds anywhere and no mega cruise ships and their 1,000s of passengers crowding, standing on and destroying the reefs. Belize is old skool Caribbean Island adventure, PRV is a fantastic base from which to enjoy the wonders the kind, friendly, welcoming Belizean people are taking care of.

YES! The amazing concierge staff at the resort will take care of everything for you. You will need to let them know what size golf cart you need and how many days. The cart will be delivered to you at the resort. We reserved a 6 seater. It's perfect, because the downtown area is too far to walk, unless you want a little workout. The resort also has bicycles for you to check out on a first come first serve basis.
