This was our 6th trip to this hotel. Some areas refurbished, others lacking. The biggest surprise was the immense stage and the “rave” each Friday night where other hotels are bussed in to party. All staff were excellent as usual. Food excellent.
I chose this hotel as it appeared to have good facilities for young children. After two days, it soon became apparent that this hotel was for older people (mostly Germans) or couples. My child escaped from the kids club and the supervisor did not notice she had left, and then proceeded to tell my child off in front of me, when I informed her. It was pure luck that I was nearby to see my child escape - I dread to think of what might have happened if I decided to explore the hotel offerings. The management just apologised but offered no solution, other than to say it was 'just 10 seconds' - not hearing me say that nobody realised my child had left, and also that a small child could drown within 10 seconds. The kids club set up has two open gates - one to main complex and other to main kids pool. On multiple occasions after this incident, I observed the kids club teacher inside the kids club and the children outside - where there is an open body of water and gates that a 4 year old can easily open. The kids club supervisors also take the small kids around the main complex - and when doing so, they stay in front of the kids - so basically expecting a 4 year old to follow and not wander off. On another occasion, I observed the supervisor take the 4 - 7 year old kids club attendees into the main kids pool, and have their back turned, talking to other adults. They put no identifiers e.g swim hat or swim vest, to identify the children from the kids club in the main kids pool. Hence, it should be obvious an extremely dangerous set up unless you constantly supervise your child whilst they attend the kids club. It all makes sense though when you realise the people doing the kids club are part of the wider entertainment team, and hence are chosen based on their ability to contribute to the general entertainment of the hotel and not with your child's health and safety in mind. The manager of RIU entertainment, Ernesto, just shrugged and said we offer kids entertainment, not a creche - but this is not good enough when you allow parents to leave their children unsupervised, and then your staff don't care for them!! Parents please be aware of this kids club should you choose this hotel, and consider using it!!
Aside from this, when going for food in any of the restaurants, be warned not to stop eating, or go back for more, as the waiters are ready within 5 seconds to clear your table!
Be ready to reserve your sunbeds at 7 am.
Reception will not care whether you enjoyed your stay or not - just took the key card and said nothing.
Otherwise, sure this is a nice looking hotel, and nice access to promenade, would not go back.

This was our 4th time at the resort and the recent revamp did not disappoint! The party nights were not for us but that didn't stop us having a fab time. On these nights maybe allow guest to go to alternate resorts as alternate resorts are allowed to come to the party? Pavel in the sports bar was fantastic and really stood out for service and really created a great atmosphere. You definitely noticed when he wasn't there. He was more animated than the animation team!!

We have been to this hotel on other occasions but the improvements they have made are just the best.
The hotel has undergone a complete refurbishment and it has made it even better. All restaurants are great and you can choose which one you would like to eat in although you still have to reserve some but we used the RIU App which was great.
The staff are a credit to this hotel and always pleased to see you and it is testament to the management that so many of the staff have been there ever since we have been going .
The staff are always cleaning and the rooms and public spaces are kept spotless plus the gardens are so well kept.
The entertainment at night has become one of the best we have seen abroad with so many talented animation team who work hard both day and night to make your stay enjoyable.
Friday nights are a great experience with either the White Party or the Neon party which are great fun.
Food as always plentiful and with a great variety on offer you have to be very picky not to find something to your liking.
The RIU app make things very easy as we ran out of Shower gel in the bathroom, a quick note on the app and it was refilled asap.
Also it was my birthday on arrival and we was greeted with a bottle of Champagne in the room which was a nice gesture.
Overall a great holiday and we will definitely be returning thank you Riu Gran Canaria
We booked a swim up room for our stay and it was the best decision. The room its self was clean with everything you needed including a fully stocked mini bar and optics refreshed every other day or by order through the app. The private pool overlooked the ocean and was fantastic. We prefer to chill during the day and this room was the perfect option.
The hotel complex itself is very big with loads of room around the various pools and plenty of bars to choose from with friendly and helpful staff. My only small criticism is the food offering isn’t the best in the main restaurant. However what is offered is well cooked and tasty.
We will 100% be returning.
