This Hilton hotel needs a refurbishment update, which is why I rated it below average. As a diamond member, I was upgraded to a deluxe room. Of course, I can only speak to the room that I am in ,but “shabby” explains it well. For refreshments there is a hot kettle for instant coffee and tea. There is the usual refrigerator and safe. The bathrooms have Crabtree, and Evelyn products, but the fixed placement of the sink hand soap is awkward as it is on the wall 90° to the right from where you’re standing facing the sink. This leads to drippage when you’re moving your hands from this far away position to the sink. In addition the shower/tub area is still equipped with cloth shower curtains, which these days are very unhygienic. There are no electrical outlet or USB ports bedside. There are plugs at the desk across the room. The TV is not a smart TV that you can access with casting your own device entertainment to the screen. There is ample space in this room. If your neighbors are loud you can hear them easily in the next room. The room is very dim. There are two lamps bedside for reading. The bed is comfortable with the standard Hilton duvet and pillows. The bathrobes and slippers provided are of good quality. The furniture is outdated and super worn. I was very surprised to see that the desk chair is allowed to be in the condition it is ,with peeling off of the synthetic material. See picture. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is one of the best I have experienced at a Hilton property. There are eggs and omelets made to order, many selections for hot foods, fruits, dairy products, and fresh delicious bread products. The hand pulled coffee is delicious and there is fresh orange juice. There are multiple hand sanitizers throughout the lobby and dining area, which is truly appreciated as there are many Hilton properties that you cannot find any hand sanitizer, even near the buffets. The executive lounge is an area that is part of the breakfast location. Between 6 and 8 PM there are a few wine choices, beer choices, tonic water, and soda choices, along with four or five spirits. There are also a few warm appetizers, cheese, fruit available. The hotel location is a 3 to 4 minute walk from the main train station. This short walk, I was told by multiple Hotel staff when I queried about being a single female walking from the train station to the hotel, stated that I should not be doing this late at night as it was not safe. I was advised if I was coming back at a late hour, that I should take a taxi. Taxis are approximately €13-€15 returning to the hotel from the Duomo area. During the daytime, use of the train station is excellent with ability to use your smart phone and credit card to tap going through the stiles to enter the train station/metro and re-tapping upon exiting at your desired metro stop. .The metro is clean, fast and efficient in my experience so far. Prior to making this reservation , I had called and asked about the location in regards to being a single female traveler, and was told that it was no problem. Unfortunately, since I arrived, I have been told differently by female and male Hotel staff. I believe that it would be perfectly OK if you had a traveling companion or are walking with a group at night. At 6:30 on a Saturday night, there was the presence of police with military style vehicles immediately in front of the train station, but of course they’re not in the area between the hotel and the train station. The other areas surrounding the hotel appear to be on par with other metropolitan cities where you would take the necessary safety precautions. There is an Aldi right next-door where you can purchase the usual types of groceries and drinks if wanted. Also an Europcar office attached. All in all, if the price is agreeable, and you have a traveling companion, and don’t mind a dated and worn room, this hotel has a lovely breakfast and helpful staff.
