I would say, it is very good accommodation for such price. It is close to train station or bus stations. You can get easily into city, to the beach or basically anywhere you want.
We had room for three people for 3 nights with bathroom inside (there are also rooms with shared bathroom so take care on it when you will order rooms). Room was clean and towels were changed every day. Bed was very comfortable (they were very soft, so if you are one who prefer tough beds, consider it).
Heating "item" was very small and close to one bed. Unfortunately, it is not possible to heat up whole room with it. Also window wasn't possible to seal perfectly so it was a bit cold during the night (January).
We were there only for nights and I can say, I am satisfied.
When we arrived, man on the reception was very friendly. We didn't recognize any problems with walls as others described.

I stayed at this 'hostal' for one night and the main reason for choosing it was the location, since I wanted to stay near Stació de França. The place is basic, to say the least, but served its purpose. I booked a single room with en-suite bathroom (shared bathrooms aren't something I even consider when booking a room) and was given a quite spacious room with one double bed and one single, facing Stació de França. The matress and pillows are very comfortable, sheets and towels were fresh and clean. Actually the whole room was quite clean. There was heating available, extra blankets in the closet, if needed, a ceiling fan and even a small balcony. The bathroom was small but functional. A TV in the room wouldn't hurt, but for the price, one cannot expect many frills. The night receptionist could also be more welcoming, or polite at least. I spoke to him in spanish and he replyed in catalán, but that was probably his way of making a statement. I am portuguese and I can speak fairly fluent spanish, yet I am never pleased when foreigners speak to me in spanish, maybe that is somewhat comparable for some catalán people. All in all, I considered this hostal a great option for the purpose of staying one night in the location I wanted to be, and for a more than reasonable price. Great value for money, near some of Barcelona's hippest neighborhoods.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Really close to the train station just opposite, we walked quite a way before finding this out (someone gave us wrong directions)
The hostel is about 4 floors up there are quite a few stairs.
We stayed here with 2 4 year olds and ourselves. Barcelona didn’t have a massive choice of rooms for 4 people.
The staff on reception are all very friendly and helpful and child friendly.
Our room was basic but clean. We had a small balcony overlooking the back, I loved it very traditional, very Spanish. There were a few ants in the bathroom a few times but no problem.
At night it was quiet.
The hostel is in a great location very near the bus stop to do the open deck tours, train station across the road and a lovely park about 4 minutes walk and Restaurants below.
Would we stay here again if returning to Barcelona - yes.
