Book This Hotel!

Reviewed Jun 17, 2018via mobile
We came to Barcelona pre and post cruise. We had booked an Air B&B for the few days before our cruise but it wasnt available for our return stay. Wow, am I glad!!! The online pictures are accurate but don’t do it justice. First, the location of this boutique hotel is superb. Right between Gothic quarter and El Born, you are surrounded by excellent shopping, food, sights, history, and all the strange things that make Barcelona so fantastic. Everywhere we walked we came across something unexpected and wonderful. Second, the staff are amazing. They went above and beyond providing us a spot to sit and relax - even beverages, while we waited for our room to be ready (we arrived 6 hours early ;) not just storing our bags, but extra TLC. They had great recommendations for food, sights, shopping. But most of all it was how they treated us. Super friendly and attentive. Third and probably most important for some are the rooms. We booked the family room for our group of 3. It was larger than most luxury apartments. I think you could easily fit 4-5 typical European hotel rooms in this one apartment. Two completely separate bedrooms, two bathrooms and a generous lounge/kitchen. Beautiful furniture and attention to detail. We all said “wow” when we walked in and professed we would only stay here on future visits. The entire hotel has this high-end look and feel, but there isn’t anything pretentious about it. Amazing location, staff, accommodation. What more do you need?

Our expectations were high, but we were immediately discouraged by a) our driver's inability to navigate the narrow streets and to park in order to drop us off; b) our difficulty gaining access to the lobby off the street (door hard to spot); c) the receptionist's lack of concern that we'd arrived ahead of check-in and there was no place for us to wait. There is no staff on site other than one lone receptionist who must man the front desk (hence, you bring up your own luggage) and one breakfast room attendant/cook. There is no introduction to your room and its amenities, no secure room to store luggage, and no common area. Our suite was spacious and clean (other than the living area rug), the bed was very comfortable, the shower was strong and leak-free and the laundry service was very efficient; however, switches for TV and lights were confusing and water/soap delivery by was sporadic beyond the first day. Overall, a mix of positives and negatives, but the biggest improvements could be made to the reception.

Room tip: Double Jr. Suite 101 is large, but street and abutting neighbours (small children) are very noisy.

Central, helpful and humble staff and luxurious room (at least for our standards).
But as lots of buildings in big cities, they are really close to one and other. So just remember to pull the curtains in front of the window before you step into the shower. That way you won't have this awkward eye contact with the neighbours across the street when you get out. Just a tip.

This is a cozy and lovely hotel in the center of Barcelona. It is about 5 mins walk from La Rambla, and just off the main road. You can easy catch a taxi or walk to the metro-station. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around. I originally booked the double room, but upon arrival, I was upgraded to the junior suite, which was really nice. Breakfast is ok, and staff were really friendly.

My family and I stayed here one night. We felt as though we were right at home. We had plenty of space to spread out and relax. The next morning the hotel provided us with an amazing breakfast. We were very pleased with the service and quality of the hotel. We plan to return next year.

Location is key. Just steps away from take-away meals, pastries, gelato & bodega for groceries. Convenient to all transportation - bus & subway. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Kitchen was great to have a place to bring home take-away meals & left-overs with refrigerator and microwave. Loved the hot water tea kettle. Big bath sheets that were awesome to wrap up in after shower. Very nicely decorated. Parents slept in bedroom with door but walls were not quite floor to ceiling so sound traveled from living area. Children slept in pull out bed that was very comfortable. Plenty of closet and shelf space for belongings. Some noise from other units but to be expected in any hotel. We were in Apt 102. Small elevator but worked well for luggage and 2 people per ride. A great place to stay when in Barcelona to be right there.

Room tip: 24 hour concierge to open front door added to safety of this small hotel. We were too busy to use the pool or terrace but had it been warmer I sure we would have made it up there.
