We stayed here 3 nights as a couple in a Superior Double. The room was a decent size, and had two very comfortable single beds instead of a double bed. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, modern and the shower was fantastic. The Nespresso machine was a nice touch.
We emailed in advance to ask for a corner room, on a high floor away from an elevator and that’s exactly what we got. We did this based on other reviews who indicated this was the quietest part of the hotel.
Check-in took a few minutes and cava was available for all new guests. They also gave us a complimentary bottle of cava on our first day, which was waiting for us in our room that evening. The second day was Valentines Day, and a box of chocolates was on a bed for us. Small touches like that go a long way and make you feel like you’re more than just another guest. Someone has put thought and effort into that.
On our second night, one of the apartments directly behind the hotel had a very late night party, which was extremely loud with music and shouting which didn’t stop until 4am. This kept us awake until then - and we later found out other guests too. We complained to the front desk, who called the Police, who sadly couldn’t do anything as the residents in the house party didn’t answer their door. Our third night started the same way so we complained again and straight away we were offered a different room. This time it was to the front of the hotel, were I was expecting lots of traffic noise - but the room was great, and we couldn’t hear what was happening on the street below. A great nights sleep followed and was very welcome.
The party wasn’t the fault of any staff in the hotel, and they did all they could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. All staff members we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. The Concierge gave us the name and directions to a great tapas restaurant, which was just around the corner. Couldn’t fault any staff member, they were all superb.
Location wise it was great, just a few seconds walk from Plaça de Cataluña where there is a subway, hop on-hop off busses, airport shuttles and local bus services. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants here and of course you’re just a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas and all the bustling streets off that.
Overall we would absolutely recommend this hotel, however just for that apartment behind the hotel, I would choose to stay at the front of the hotel in future. For service, cleanliness and location, it was perfect for us. Thank you!
