Good value especially for location

Reviewed May 18, 2024
I don't have a lot of exposure to hostels but this place really exceeded my expectations. It's not a 5 star resort, but going into it knowing it's a fairly low cost hostel, I really can't fault the place which is why I'm giving it 5 stars. The location is amazing, staff were always on site and pleasant, the bed and linens were basic but offered a comfortable sleep and the rooftop terrace was quite beautiful! There was also laundry on-site which was a bonus!

We had a decent stay here. The service was excellent, and the rooms were good with ample storage. They were just a complete sauna at night. The AC is locked and doesn't run at night, so a full room is just a hot box. The women's showers were often out of order, and the lack of an air dryer for your hands in the bathrooms means everyone's walking around with wet hands. The kitchen being inaccessible in the morning before 8 am is kind of ridiculous, especially if you're leaving early and need to eat your own breakfast.
The location is fantastic, close to the metro, and a lot of great places to eat.

Room tip: Avoid breakfast. It's not very good. The coffee is like a powdered mix. It's cheaper to go out or buy your own.

Firstly, the location of this hostel is excellently located just a block away from Diagonal Metro Station where three metro lines converge which made it really easy to travel with the metro.

The dorm that I stayed in was a mixed one and was quite cramped, but what the heck - you only sleep there. Every bed had a curtain that could be closed to get some personal space which was great, so once getting into bed it felt quite spacious.

The room had A/C and the bed had a small shelf with a bed lamp and an A/C-outlet.

When I checked in the bed was already made which I believe is quite unusual at hostels and that made a good first impression.

The common areas consisted of a quite large room for meeting new friends an an even bigger outdoor terrace. There is also a common kitchen and a fridge that can be used.

This is probably the best cleaned hostel I've ever stayed at and the desk was manned 24/7 which is a great thing if you need help to order a taxi to the airport (I had an early flight so the Metro was not an option).

Everyone at the desk speaks great English and were all very helpful.

First time to try a hostel and it wasn’t bad after all. Location is perfect and the staff is very friendly and helpful - I’d like to mention Electra - the receptionist who had been helping us out the whole stay there.

We will definitely give it a try again and this time more ready on a hostel environment and ways.

Room tip: A bigger sign on the door or some more visible signage on the street on the way to their building.

I'm delighted to hear that your first experience in a hostel turned out to be a good one. It's great to hear that Electra, the receptionist, went the extra mile to assist you throughout your visit.

It's fantastic to know that you're open to trying hostels again in the future. We hope your future hostel adventures are just as enjoyable, if not more so!"

Apart from the comfort of an "almost capsule" (with a curtain for privacy & a built-in shelf beside the bed) in an 8-bed dorm room, really the "best part" of the stay at this place was its "2 common areas" both spacious with plenty of tables & chairs (an indoor lounge & an outdoor terrace where there 's also a laundry room); and also pretty good was the breakfast which was totally worth an "extra cost" with a number of items to choose from.

And yes, located at "not too central" but a pretty good location, just in a short walking distance (no more than 10 minutes) from this place are: restaurants, mini-supermarkets, the Diagonal metro station (with a "direct line" to the Barcelona Sants train station where I departed to Madrid later), and also two of the city's popular tour sites namely Casa Mila & Casa Batllo (both of which I skipped though due to their "high admissions" and choosing instead the sites at the Gothic Quarter further down south but still not too far from this hostel after just about a 20-minute walk to the "main square" Placa de Catalunya then a little further from it).

And also, many thanks are to the staff ladies who were all friendly (& helpful with getting my train ticket to Madrid).

The hostel is very clean, staff is friendly and there are many cool community areas. I had a bed in the 8 bed female dorm and loved that it had a private bathroom. The bed included light, curtain, towel and a locker and was very comfy.
Don't expect a very social/party vibe to connect with others. It's relatively quiet, so it's perfect to work in the huge community space.
I highly recommend it for remote workers and travelers that prefer to be on their own :)
