Review of Coronado Hotel
Reviewed Jul 2, 2018via mobile
The hotel is located in the centre of Barcelona only a few minutes away of La Rambla and 1,5km from the beach. Our room was clean and had a climatization.
The only thing I have to critizise is the breakfast, which was little varied. Only toast broad, a bit cheese and a ham.
You can better buy your breakfast in one of nearby bakeries.

Myself and my partner booked a 3 night stay at this hotel. We arrived early and knew we had to check in later which was fine so we left our bags in the luggage room. Whilst doing this we used the toliets in their snack bar to find no toliet roll so we had to use napkins off their tables.
We arrived back at check time to find a lady on the phone who asked us what type of room did we want, single beds or double so we said double. She was still on the phone chatting away whilst leaving us with no information. She gave us our key card and that was that. No information nothing and had the cheek the charge 5€ tourist tax.
The spiral dark staircase was the most medieval feature and was horrendous as our suitcase took up the whole of the elevator.
Well our room was honestly so frightening it resembled a 70s style torture room where you couldnt guess if it was day or night outside as the lightening was terrible and our window looked out to a broken old elevator shaft i couldnt bare myself to look out. Our bed was the most basic double bed ive ever seen and we only had 1 pillow which was a long thin pillow we had to share. I was so horrified i wanted to leave and get back on a plane.
We decided to head out and try make the best of our day so we headed downstairs to be told we could not leave the hotel with our key we had to place it in a bowl and the staff (2 ladies) would put it away in the cubby hole so anyone could potentially walk in and ask for any room number and they would hand it over.
After walking around we found a hotel not 5 minutes up the road Hotel Brummel and it was the most beautiful lovely hotel i have ever stayed in so we cut our losses with Coronado and moved our things to the new hotel without telling them.
Please do not visit unless you want nightmares.

My wife and I stayed here for one night after a cruise.
We were concerned that our reservation had not been effective because we had tried to contact them several times by email and telephone without a response, however when we arrived we found all to be in order.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked if we could leave our suitcases with them since we arrived too early to book in. This wasn’t a problem and they were left in a lockable area to our relief.

We returned early evening and took our cases up to our room on the 2nd floor. The lift was tiny so I walked and my wife went up with our two suitcases.

We had read a number of TripAdvisor reports and were wondering what the room was going to be like. Well the room was clean and a bit more spacious than we had been led to believe. The bathroom was spacious and there were controls for air-conditioning.

Since we had been walking around Barcelona for the day I wanted a shower. I turned it on and found the water to be cold. I waited about five minutes and it was now tepid so I showered. By the end of my shower the water was reasonably up to speed.

When we decided to go to bed we found that the one window near the bed looked out onto a central space about 3m wide in the hotel where other rooms’ windows also looked out onto. Our window did not have thick curtains but did have a blind which was tied up halfway. So other rooms could look in on us which was not relaxing and during the night the light from their rooms disturbed our sleep.

The walls were very very thin and noise from our neighbours was an issue. About 6am a family decided to have a loud conversation and it woke us.

My wife and I got up and showered ready for our return flight. I was dubious about the shower’s performance thinking about the previous day but I had plenty of hot water. The only drawback was the plastic curtain that ended up clinging to me as I showered.

The receptionist that morning was friendly and gladly called a taxi for us. It arrived in about ten minutes and took us to the airport for 36 euros.

The hotel was clean, the occupants were really only those staying for one night, there were the basics that you needed and a very simple pastries and coffee breakfast.

You get what you pay for. If I was only travelling with some motorcycle friends and needed a bed for the night it would be very acceptable.

What I was searching for, was a clean room to sleep. I was in Barcelona for tourism and I was out all day. When we were coming back everything was clean and tidy. Large bathroom and hot water all day. Hair dryer was very strong. I never used mine. I would love to have breakfast in the price but hey it's ok! Overall a nice clean hotel near the metro station! Also the staff was nice and helpful! English also spoken there!

The location is very good. 10-15 minutes walking from La Rambla. It's also close to Montjuïc park. It has elevator. The room was okay. But the bathroom was dirty. Particularly it was full of little cockroaches.
