I booked an overnight at this hotel as I was going on a cruise the following day. The hotel is dated but very clean. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful and always had a smile on her face. The room was small but adequate, the bathroom was spacious but dated and a few cracked tiles were visible. The location is 20 minutes approx walking time to the Cruise bus terminal (The cost to Cruise terminal was €3 single) The hotel to La Ramble was 15 minutes walk approx. The location is good as there are lots of family run restaurants and cafe's in the area. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a reasonable place to stay in Barcelona.

contrary to many other comments, the room was clean (but old furniture), all bed sheets and towels were changed everyday.
but we ask a room for two adult and one kid (5 years), and once arrived they don't have the bed for our son! so after insiting a long time, they pick up an old and rusty kind of camp-bed, and install it in our room, which became smaller...also the room is noisy, you hear the sound in the streets, despite we were at fourth floor and the windows were double glassed. no parking provided, but there is a parking near the skatepark wich is 13-12€ per day.

only pros: the hotel is really well placed, near the Montjuic park, and close to the metro station parallel (5min walk)

The hotel doesn't offer breakfast, still uses a metal key that has to be left in the lobby (!) and the smell of the bed covers was awful. The bathroom was ok but I will never stay there again. And if you book through edreams.com you can't even review your stay to inform others of how bad the hotel is. Please don't stay here.

I booked a holiday at two days’ notice, and this was the cheapest hotel I could find that did not involve a dormitory or a shared bathroom.

The location is excellent, being two minutes from Parallel Metro station and about ten minutes walk from La Rambla.

The staff are lovely and friendly.

The room was basic - I wasn’t expecting much, but it had a comfortable bed, shower and a wardrobe. There was a HD TV which had many Spanish and Catalan channels and one in English -DMax. The shower was hot and the room was cleaned excellently each day and the bed remade. I think it needs a small bedside chest of drawers to store clothes, which I had to do in my suitcase.

I would certainly recommend this hotel, and look forward to booking it early next year for my next visit to Barcelona.

I needed an overnight stay in Barcelona close to the main train station. This hotel is just two blocks from the metro and three stops from the main train station. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Small restaurants in the area allow for an evening meal. Only downside was the limited availability of power outlets to charge phones and laptop. Window was only to the inside of building block. So no view towards the street.

Booked this hotel, and then had train problems and could not get there. I called the hotel to see what I could do about it, and they would not help with anything. They would not refund anything and were rude on the phone. When we looked at the hotel on Google, these images popped up. We were concerned about our safety in this hotel, and they did not care at all. Impolite and rude. -1000/10.

We stayed in the hotel Coronado for 5 nights in April 2005. At around 36 Euro per person/night we did not expect anything fancy, and that is pretty much what we got. The hotel is comfortably located only a short walk away from the metro station Parallel and just around the corner from Montjuic park (which is well worth a visit btw). The area seemed residential and reasonably safe. The street leading up to the hotel is lined with restaurants, little grocery shops, internet cafes etc so it's easy to stock up on softdrinks etc. Our hotel room had a TV with TV stations in several languages (including Polish!), and there was a phone, an airconditioning and even a safe in the room. The ensuite bathroom seemed clean and the shower was hot and powerful, but bleach was used profusely and even the towels smelled of it.

Breakfast was included and is served from 8-10.30 and was okay, containing cereal, orange juice, croissants and a roll. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English and French. The elevator was out of service for most of our stay, but we saw that it was being repaired on the day we left. In the hotel lounge there were several vending machines with cold drinks and snacks.

To wrap it up, hotel Coronado is an okay hotel that provides everything you need for a nice holiday on a tight budget. We'd go there again!

We stayed here from the 3-6 March 2004 and found the hotel to be more than adequate for our needs. We had an en-suite room on the 4th floor, which appeared to have been recently re-decorated. The breakfast was typically continental and sufficient to get us underway in the mornings. The hotel is located about 200 yds from Parallel station, which in turn is about half a mile from La Ramblas. When exiting the station turn left down Nou Ramblas, away from La Ramblas and up the slope towards Montjuic. The Metro will take you to La Ramblas if you find the distance too great. If you are in Barcelona for a few days get the 10 trip pass which covers you for all Metro’s and buses.Between the Hotel and the Metro station we found a very comfortable bar named the Apollo cafe. They had a great range of sausage snacks.Another place we found pleasant was the Blue Margarita bar which is located just off the bottom of La Ramblas. They do a range of reasonable snacks and a great dark beer (Estrella Bock).

We stayed in this hotel at July 21st 2005. We expected a very simple not very clean room, but what we saw was very clean and nice room with a great airconditioning! Our room was cleaned on a daily basis and every day we got clean towels. The hotel staff were very friendly and nice en spoke English, that's not a common thing in Barcelona.
The hotel was situated only 150 metres from underground station Paral-lel.
We give the advice to buy the Barcelona cart, that gives you discount on various attractions and restaurants. But the most important thing is that you have free access tot the underground and busses.
The hotel gets only one * in the brochure but we thing that is deserves **+

I booked the Hotel Coronado at the very last minute and regret it! The room was an inside room with no window. The bath had rust in it and everything and I mean everything was washed in bleach. It is situated on Nou De Rambla which is at the bottom end of La Rambla - very very seedy. I had taken my mum for a 60th birthday present and as you can imagine walking past prostitutes in a back alley to get back to the hotel was not good! The next day we found somewhere else to stay - which was lovely. The NH Belagua - see my other review. Last of all Barcelona is a beautiful city, you must go there!

You can take a shuttle bus called Aerobus to Plaça Espanya: go downstairs from the terminal and you'll see a bus stop with a queue, the bus arrives every 5 minutes. At Plaça Espanya take the green metro line (L3) and go to the station called Paral.lel (2 stops). The station is located on the crossroads of Paral.lel street and Nou de la Rambla. Walk about 5 minutes up the street Nou de la Rambla and you're there :) Hope this was helpful :)
