I have been to the Caixaforum arts centre many times over the past ten years, a place that is really a fantastic facility. It is a wonderful addition to the city and, for once, a bank must be applauded for their real contribution to cultural and civic life. Part of the complex consists of a cafe and restaurant. The cafe is the usual self-service affair but you can have a sit-down lunch at a set price, a bit over what you would pay in town but not exorbitant. However, value for money is another thing. The food promises a lot but is mediocre, at best. We had fish that was like rubber and swimming in salty sauce. The veg was cooked to mush and the salad just boring. The portions were tiny. Desert was presented nicely but bland. And the service was verging on the rude, that is when we could attract service.
