Excellent casual but very well done tapas and small plate restaurant very near to La Sagrada Familia. Come here-do not go to any of the tourist traps on the same street. This place is a gem! Excellent, authentic tapas that is so delicious. Highly recommend!

We had the BEST evening at Madre!

We were a very last minute booking of 14 people but this didn't seem to bother the team at all, they were so welcoming and enthusiastic and our waiter Marco was incredible. He had us laughing from the offset and went above and beyond to make it a great experience.

He set aside the last four bottles of the wine we had ordered so they wouldn't run out, played my favourite song while serving us a round of house shots and gave us all complimentary truffles for dessert.

We could not have asked for a better final meal and we left with massive smiles on our faces (see photo for proof!) Thank you so much Marco and the rest of the team!!

Tapas here were excellent! Especially their coquettes. We stopped here after visiting the Sagrada Familia - it’s very close by and if you sit outside the views are brilliant. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star review was that it took a while for them to seat us (even though there was no queue and plenty of seats they ignored us for a while) but once we did get seated service was quick.

Wonderful location right next to the Sagrada de Familia but more importantly great service and delicious good quality, local, typical spanish food.
We were hesitant due to not being able to see the menu online but this place us a gem hidden in plane sight!

Our waiter, Pedro m, really looked after us. His recommendation for the fried egg & ham dish was spot on and the chocolate cheescake for desert was to die for. We would definitely come again!

I take full responsibility for falling for a tourist trap and let me tell you this is one of the worst traps.

Read the reviews and was super excited to try knowing full well 99% of restaurants around tourist attractions aren’t good in the least.

My fault.. my own damn fault

And to be honest the two stars is because we had a super friendly waiter and he deserves recognition for his work. The chefs (and I use that term very loosely) do not deserve it.

We came to Barcelona looking for a wedding venue bc we love the food here so much so naturally on our first night back we ventured out and have been speaking for past 2 hours on how disappointing and terrible it was. We’ve been to Spain and Barcelona over 10x and I cannot fathom how this location has anything over 2 maybe 3 stars.

Please do not read the positive reviews as I’m sure it was all asked for by the venue to write one.

Yes, all taste buds are different but nothing in Spain has left me so upset that I had to put this in writing and warn those with good taste to completely avoid this trap
