Room was an ok size and clean. Good shower, location was perfect for exploring the Gothic Quarter, with plenty of facilities nearby. We didnt really need assistance from the hotel staff but they were pleasant when we were coming and going. Roof terrace was pretty and a nice place to relax after walking around all day. No problems with Wifi, water was replenished. No tea and coffee, but cups and a kettle provided, plus a small fridge in the wardrobe. Would stay again for the location

Although this hotel was highly rated, we wouldn’t agree.

Pros:
- Wi-Fi was good but you have to sign in every day which is a pain.
- Location is very good and can easily walk to many places
- Cleaning ladies are very nice and good except that I found a hair tie from someone else that they must have found when cleaning our room and left it on the nightstand that wasn’t wiped down from the previous night.

Cons:
- No English movie channels & only 1 BBC news channel - very annoying if you want to just relax after a busy day and would like to watch an English speaking movie. BBC News isn’t relaxing.
- Poor customer service at the front desk - not helpful front desk especially upon checkin. It was our first time in Barcelona and they didn’t give us info on the hotel amenities. They didn’t really show us via maps or anything where things were just would point and say the name of the street. Very frustrating. We are seasoned travellers and have always felt we could go to the front desk for advice and help but not in this case. They just do the bare minimum for you. We did speak with one young guy late one evening for some help and he tried as best he could to help us so we thank him for that. The day staff should be more like him and his level of customer service.
- Not enough lighting in bathroom - shower needs more lighting (see pics)
- Rooms are small. Felt like a dark box and a bit depressing. We had a balcony but with no purpose. It had a horrible view. What’s the point in having a balcony at all when it’s 3’ x 2’ max and you’re staring a lot brick walls (see pics). It’s got to be the worst view we have ever had and we’ve stayed in a lot of places.
- They give you a kettle and cups but no coffee or tea/sugar etc. Just two small water bottles on the desk when checking in.
- Although the elevator murals are very nice, the elevators need to be cleaned more. Handprints on the screens and walls for hours.
- Rooms are not sound proof at all! Can hear people moving furniture upstairs, people in the hallway etc. Outside noise is good just the sound of the church bells that go off anytime day or night.
- Young lady in the breakfast area needs better manners - she was really fake and rude. If there is a problem with a guest, she should go over to them and speak to them personally instead of yelling at them across the room in front of all the other guests. Not very professional or nice at all!

For a well known city like Barcelona, this hotel didn’t live up to the beauty that the city has been known for and was a disappointment.

Would we stay again? No thank you. You guys need to do better for your future guests as I just read that these issues were still there in 2017. It’s definitely not a 4 star hotel.

Definitely not a star hotel and barely a three star .
We have stayed at this hotel twice before and has it gone down hill in the past few years .
When we arrived we were greeted by the most arrogant gentleman (I use that word loosely ) at reception . No hello or greeting just name and do you want a double or single beds . My husband and I looked amazed and said double. Well that is at the back of the hotel he said . What we weren’t told was that it is the size of a cupboard , dingy and also has a shower curtain in the bathroom …top of my pet hates . I would have thought after 2 previous stays and booking direct we may have been given more of a welcome . I went back down stairs in the slowest lifts ever to argue our case for the better room … that had 2 single beds .
Breakfast is good not great . So glad we only had booked 2 nights .
Yes it was cheap ( and now nasty) …. You do get what you pay for . I have learnt my lesson .
