Fantastic location in the Gothic Quarter, literally at the back door of the Barcelona Cathedral. Metro station (with elevator) in front of hotel. But, there are some homeless characters. Nothing like having breakfast & outside the window is a fellow urinating at the Metro stairway. Hotel is surrounded by restaurants/bars, shops & a popular pastisseria next door. Very close to a numbers of squares. Front desk speaks English & very accommodating & helpful. We arrived early from cruise port & they stored our bags. There's an elevator & we were on 2nd floor facing the side street. Fairly good size room with balcony. Street noise was not an issue because balcony doors are fairly thick & blocked out a good deal of the noise. AC worked very well even at night. Breakfast had a good variety of hot & cold foods. If your breakfast is not included, you can pay at front desk, then take receipt down to breakfast room. Another great service is the front desk can arrange taxi service for you. It's a busy area with construction on Laietana so allow a little extra time for taxi, but we rarely had to wait more than 10-15 mins. The hotel routinely uses the largest taxi company so you can trust you won't be scammed.
Shower controls in room takes some practice, especially when switching from overhead to hand-held shower head. Due to water conservation your sheets are changed every 5 days, but let them know if you need it changed sooner. Also, if you want towels changed, be sure to leave them on floor.
I initially made my reservations through Hotels.com, but cancelled when Hotel Suizo had an on-line special, which would save me almost $200 on a 5-night stay. Would definitely stay here again.
