Review of Hotel Glories
Reviewed Jan 31, 2018
Hotel Glories is a hotel that may have had some glorious past which has probably not kept its pace with time and is now slightly lagging back. The room decor is a bit tired, the doors and tables chipping off. But the bed was comfortable and so was the overall stay. The usp of this hotel is that it is very close to Sagrada Familia the most important iconic structure of Barcelona. The breakfast is nice, while the presentation of the breakfast is moderate the variety and quality of the breakfast are good. The breakfast staff are courteous and the hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel lobby should have some more information or informative leaflets of the surrounding sightseeing options.

This was an OK hotel. I think I'm being generous with giving it 4/5, but it wouldn't take much for this to be a really good hotel, whereas I think on the whole it's pretty average.

The receptionists were all consistently welcoming and polite and said hello every time I walked through reception. The reception layout was a bit odd with the bar immediately opposite reception but I didn't spend any time in the bar anyway so it wasn't an issue.

The room was fine. It was pretty large, but quite dark due to a lack of natural light and not many lights. It was a bit tatty around the edges; the laminate flooring was badly chipped and the wire on the desklight was frayed - things like that. Also the room was quite stuffy and uncomfortably warm at night. I'm not sure if the air con was turned off as it was out of season, but however low I turned the dial, although the unit made the right noises the air wasn't cool.

Other than that, everything was fine. The room was clean, the staff were polite and there was a safe, free WIFI and a minibar in the room.

The location was almost perfect; 10 minutes walk to Sagrada Famillia/San Pau Modernista, 20 minutes to the beach, 30 minutes to Pasaje de Gracia, 35 minutes to Las Ramblas. There are two Metro stations (serving two lines) within 10 minutes; Gloria (L1, useful for Espana), and Monumental (L2).

There are plenty of supermarkets, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance just by walking up the street.

Stayed here two nights pre cruise. We arrived late and helpful receptionist pointed us in the direction of a good restaurant. Welcome was efficient and friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean. Very good central location, especially for Sagrada Familia church. Would certainly recommend and stay here again.

Used by cruise companies as a stopover hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Really nice small reception area where you can have a coffee, cake or an alcoholic drink. Breakfast is available at a very reasonable price. Some way from Las Ramblas but using the metro should make it a good place to stay. In easy walking distance from the Sagrada Familia and just round the corner from the old Bullring. The hop on hop off bus has a stop near the Sagrada

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. The hotel is close to Sagrada Familia, Torre Agbar, Museums of Music, Arts, etc. It's a good choice for a city break, you have wi-fi, lounge bar. The furniture is simple and basic. All TV programs (3-4) are in spanish. From hotel to La Rambla by walking is about 30-40 min.
