Quite a while since we had used the L'Illa on our Barcelona trips; we were reluctant as the front desk staff could not be more unpleasant and unhelpful!
What a wonderful change to be so warmly and pleasantly greeted by a smart, polite and helpful reception.
Rooms improved and well appointed now, excellent walk-in shower. Clean and tidy, good maid service.
Enjoyable stay, highly recommended.
(Maybe the soap quality could be improved!)
AC Hotel Diagonal L’llla is a Category 4 Marriott property located on the busy Avenida Diagonal street in the heart of Barcelona. We booked the hotel for 1 night at 25,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. The cash rate for that particular night at this hotel (as well as the nearby Hilton Barcelona) was very high so represented a good value of points.
I don’t particularly like carpet flooring so really liked the wooden flooring in the room.

Great location for getting around in Barcelona without the worries heard from other travelers. Huge mall next door was great for a rainy day. Accommodations were excellent and we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast every morning before launching into the days activities. Excursions for the week were purchased through the Marriott site. Every activity was wonderful.
We stayed in the hotel during some very heavy rainfall, which meant we ended up spending quite a lot of time in the hotel with our one year old baby. The friendly staff provided a small bathtub for our baby and our room was well equipped and spacious. We had lunch a couple of times in the hotel restaurant, which is excellent. The hotel doesn't have much of a lobby, which would have been nice. However, right next to the hotel there is a shopping centre with an excellent food court in the basement - a big plus! Generally speaking - a nice hotel with a super friendly staff.
I stayed at this place due to a business trip. Overall a good hotel well located and with plenty restaurant options near by. the rooms are very clean, comfortable and good size. As a tourist I would probably stay a little bit closer to the main attractions but it is worth to consider as well that hotel.
