The hotel itself was great. They sure make the most of the small space with a great rooftop small pool and bar. However, we had a denial of a room cancellation charge that felt like a low blow after a 24 hour flight delay from the US. Our flight missed a connection due to a mechanical problem so I called the hotel to advise them we would arrive one day late. The man I spoke to on the phone was kind and apologetic and told me to go ahead and cancel the hotels.com booking I had and that his manager would likely put any cancellation charges toward a new booking. I arrived at the hotel and even extended my booking an additional day so we would still stay 4 nights, AND booked directly with the hotel rather than hotels.com to cut the middle man out for them. They still refused to refund my cancellation fee or put it toward the room. I spoke with hotels.com and they confirmed the hotel received the cancellation money and would have to provide the refund for this charge. They told me they needed to charge me because they couldn’t book that room for somebody else on our first night we missed, yet the hotel was not sold out (I even checked online to confirm). For this experience, it felt petty and I probably wouldn’t recommend as a result. Unfortunate really… the stay was otherwise great.
