I didn't actually stay at this hotel. I booked it through Expedia thinking that I would be able to change or cancel within a certain time frame. I tried to change my booking less than 24 hours after making the reservation, wanting to change the days booked. Expedia's website would not let me make this change and instead suggested I cancel and re-book. I hit the cancel button and was then informed that the hotel would be charging me a cancellation fee which equalled 30% of the total initial cost. This was almost $400 CAD. The trip was more than 2 weeks away and I tried to get Expedia to assist with getting this Plaza Goya to reverse this charge but two phone calls and an email later they informed me that the hotel would not reverse this charge and there was nothing they could do. I am extremely frustrated that I ended up paying $381.82 CAD for absolutely nothing and I think people should know about this.

We booked this hotel super last minute as we found ourselves in an AirBnB close by that was awful.
We booked in for the following night for a week then popped in to see if they'd had any cancellations so we could come a night earlier. The staff were super helpful, and although they didn't have space they offered to phone other hotels in the area for us to see if there were free spaces. They also insisted that we could drop our bags as early as we wanted the next day.

So, at 7am the next day we headed over, dropped off our bags and went to explore the city. When we returned our bags were in our room waiting. The hotel was clean and modern, the bathroom had an amazing shower and the whole stay was wonderful.

The hotel itself is within easy walking distance to La Rambla, gothic quarter etc as well as being next to a metro stop and close to the airport bus pick up/drop off point. There are some fantastic restaurants and bars close by and the free WiFi was great.

Overall, great place.

We stayed here for two days prior to embarking our Mediterranean cruise. It was a little tricky to find as the signage was tucked on the inside wall but having read other reviewers comments we looked for the big doors beside a coffee shop and found it. The entrance seemed a bit dodgy at first and the stairway up to the reception looked daunting but our room was ok. (If you have a lot of luggage and have people in your party with physical disabilities or mobility restrictions, I'd say look for alternate accommodations.) The room was modern but very basic, with no tea or coffee facilities. Our primary complaint was the AC which you couldn't adjust below 22 degrees otherwise the power would go off. Had it been sometime in the summer or just hotter in general, this would've been a deal breaker. When we lost one of the keycards, we were charged EUR 5 for a replacement (not sure for what exactly as this is the first time anywhere this has happened). Location was the main benefit this hotel has going for it--walking distance from Placa Universitat where we got off the Aerobus from BCN airport, Placa Catalunya, La Rambla, and the Metro with some good shopping and restaurants close by. The receptionist was friendly and quite helpful, even recommended a nice restaurant for great local cuisine. Would consider staying here again in the future.
