Its close to the beach, walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Taxes are avaliable all the time, and the hotel is nice in all ways.

One should be aware that this hotel resides in the highest crime rate neighborhood in Barcelona. People warn of pickpockets, but the reality is IV drug use is rampant at any time of day or night. It reminds me of certain areas of San Francisco or Oakland, CA. We saw overdoses, people lying passed out on the street, police helicopters circling, groups of people helping each other shoot up, all in broad daylight. The quaint narrow streets and old architecture is universally marred by graffiti, and smell of urine and worse. There is a heavy police presence, and sirens and foot chases are common. Be aware that this is what you are getting into. Once inside the hotel it is very safe feeling and I never had any issues there, but be aware the outside is another story.

Did not ever feel uncomfortable with the location of the hotel. As in any city, careful when we went out in the evening.

Hadn’t been to Barcelona before so relied on the review information, the hotel is interesting as it has the bar on the top floor with amazing views, our rooms were on the 10th floor so great views, massive beds, very clean and a great breakfast. 5 mins from La Rambla

The Barceló Ravel Hotel lived up to expectation. A very swish trendy hotel which have successfully tried to do something a bit different with a quirky decor and mood lighting. The 360 roof top bar is superb and was the reason we booking this hotel. It gives an amazing panoramic vista of the whole of Barcelona with a relaxed vibe. Drinks were expensive here but you’re paying for the view. All seats were quickly taken on Sunday late afternoon when we arrived but other days were less busy and it never felt over crowded. The hotels ‘pool’ is on the rooftop however I do thing calling it a pool is a bit of a stretch. Having a swim is NOT an option. Lounging in the cool water on a sunny evening with a drink however yes…
Our Superior room was large, super clean and modern with blackout blinds, air con (no opening windows) all of which aided a good night sleep but we found it really disconcerting not knowing if it was light or dark outside so we left the curtain open a bit after the first night. The air con worked very well but I would have preferred at least one openable window. But that’s just a personal preference.
The shower was large and quite amazing. We were quite surprised that the towels were unnecessarily changed everyday! Excellent to have a free of charge safe in the room and fridge.

Sadly the hotel atmosphere was pretty non existent (except for the rooftop bar) I think there was a downstairs bar but it was always closed off, as was much of the seating area downstairs and didn’t feel at all inviting. We didn’t have breakfast, although it seem reasonable value €18 all you can eat buffet.

It’s situation within Barcelona is good to access the famous La Rambles, Gothic Q & Impressive Marina. La Ravel is more rundown than other parts of town but it was interesting to see another side to Barcelona where ‘real’ people live and work. We would definitely book here again.
