hostel in itself was clean and tidy and the night manager was lovely.
however what i can only imagine was the cleaner as he was the only one with keys decided to use my bank cards (which i stupidly left in the room) and do some online shopping!! the day manager refused to accept this was the case even though i had messages from my bank and told me no-one had been in the room- although the room was cleaned and the bed made!!! so they try and rob you but at least they clean your room!!! would not recommend as this ruined our whole stay!!!!

I visited Barcelona for a Stag (Batchelor's) Party and decided to come early. As I was on a budget, this Pension seemed perfect.

The location is great (though the taxi couldn't find it and had to walk around for half an hour to find) being 10 minutes walk to La Rambla and a lovely square around the corner.

Check In was smooth with the night manager even coming to my room as I left my wallet at reception.

However, no towels were provided and the night manager didn't know how to get one two me.

Room was very basic, but exceptionally clean and very adequate for the price. No fan was provided, as stated on booking, but as I had a balcony I couldn't face complaining again.

My main problem with my stay was the last night of my trip. The key snapped in the door as I was trying to lock the door. The manager refused to give me another room as it was 'full'. After an hour of trying, I had to ring my booking agent (Hotels.com) who also got a flat refusal from the Night Manager. Eventually they got hold of the hotel's owner who sanctioned a new room for me. All this time my room was unlocked and my watch and several € down. I had also missed the Stag Do- making my entire trip pointless and letting my friends down.

Since my return, Hotels.com and myself have contacted Pension Segre several times, however they have refused to accept any responsibility. They haven't even offered an apology.

Honestly, don't pay too much, it's very basic!! The room was not serviced or towels changed. Apparently Housekeeping get angry if you ask !!!!! The room was really tiny, very dated but clean with a strange smell which I was not sure was a good smell or bad smell (might have been lots of bleach). The location is unbeatable with lots of tapas bars within metres. Getting a room with a balcony makes it more tolerable.
