I visited Barcelona for a Stag (Batchelor's) Party and decided to come early. As I was on a budget, this Pension seemed perfect.
The location is great (though the taxi couldn't find it and had to walk around for half an hour to find) being 10 minutes walk to La Rambla and a lovely square around the corner.
Check In was smooth with the night manager even coming to my room as I left my wallet at reception.
However, no towels were provided and the night manager didn't know how to get one two me.
Room was very basic, but exceptionally clean and very adequate for the price. No fan was provided, as stated on booking, but as I had a balcony I couldn't face complaining again.
My main problem with my stay was the last night of my trip. The key snapped in the door as I was trying to lock the door. The manager refused to give me another room as it was 'full'. After an hour of trying, I had to ring my booking agent (Hotels.com) who also got a flat refusal from the Night Manager. Eventually they got hold of the hotel's owner who sanctioned a new room for me. All this time my room was unlocked and my watch and several € down. I had also missed the Stag Do- making my entire trip pointless and letting my friends down.
Since my return, Hotels.com and myself have contacted Pension Segre several times, however they have refused to accept any responsibility. They haven't even offered an apology.
My trip to Barcelona was completely ruined by this hotel
