This property has seen its better days but failed to upkeep the place to reflect the former glory. Whilst the hotel had been frequented by many high profile celebrities in the past basic maintenance and up keep of the garden and rooms have been neglected.
Driving into the grounds turned into a ‘smoke and mirrors’ experience.
Pros: Location and grounds, pet friendly. Price point ok
Cons: Accommodation was dated and smelly. No A/C. No microwave.
Food disappointing, 2 clubhouse sandwiches (on plain toasted bread!) was over $50.
If there was as much pride in ownership of the accommodations as there seemed to be for the grounds and surroundings, I’d consider returning.
Over priced, under kept, dirty and desperately needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Bed mattresses were comfortable.
I've heard so much about this place and could not wait to get there. Sadly disappointed from the outdated rooms to the lack of amenities and service. Uncomfortable beds, pillows, no AC, no ice / pop machines working, restaurant has very limited menu and is closed early. Very few places deliver that far. Would not stay again or recommend. But what a view.
My husband and I spent one night here recently. Our room in the main lodge was spacious, clean and had a lovely view of the water. We enjoyed the ambiance of the lodge and its surroundings. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The only negative was the breakfast buffet. I would give this a miss and go somewhere else for breakfast. We did not eat at the Pub so no input on the food there. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
