The pros: Service was friendly and always went out of their way to help whenever I needed anything or had a question. It may not be as new or modern as many other hotels in the area but the price reflects that and is a great value if you don't need a fancy room or fancy pool with a waterslide. Room was clean and comfortable and bedding was clean and cozy. Location is right across from the Keystone Center and next to the major mall in the city and McDonald's and A&W are right outside the door. Wifi speed in the room was decent and better than Ive experienced at hotels double the price.
The cons. I was disappointed to find that the attached Rollin' Pin Family Restaurant has become a Sushi restaurant so I had to go a block or two to find a family restaurant to dine at. The continental breakfast was totally acceptable for the price of the hotel, but selections were limited and lacked muffins and fresh fruit with the exception of apples that appeared bruised and not too fresh. Again, for the price of the hotel though the offering was acceptable. The continental breakfast ends at 9am so you plan on sleeping in you will miss out. Coffee maker in the room was appreciated however they only leave one single-cup coffee pod, one teabag and one package of sugar and whitener in the room and they charge if you ask for extras. (Coffee, tea and juices are free during the continental breakfast though). South end of the pool area was fenced off but littered with old restaurant supplies and equipment on the other side.
The verdict: For the price this hotel is totally acceptable. My stay was comfortable and I will be staying here again next time I come through Brandon.
My main recommendations for the hotel: Clean up the old restaurant equipment at the south end of the pool area. Leave at least 2 complimentary coffee pods and tea bags in the room per day or have coffee and tea available in the lobby 24 hours. Extend the continental breakfast hours to 9:30 or 10:00am.
