Really good value (we stayed at Grand Velas last summer so can compare the two experiences, cost is double to stay there) Beautiful and peaceful grounds, hard working staffing offering good service and the pools were awesome. Most all drinks were good. Food options felt very limited after a couple days and especially for the lunch pool service. Two restaurants offer enough variety for dinner but still felt like more options would be better. The food was good, not outstanding. Shout out to Victor @ Ribera and Hector @ Andrea who provided exceptional service and went above and beyond. It was overall a fun and relaxing trip traveling with a 4.5 year old. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite and had plenty of space. The staff can be a little hit or miss in terms of service, most all were extremely pleasant and helpful.

Have no complaints. Everything and everyone at Velas was awesome.
The service was spectacular. Beatriz, Azul and Angela at Concierge center were so helpful during our entire stay! They helped me decor our room for my husband bday (I provided the decorations). So friendly! At Andreas restaurant Heriberto was our waiter and took care of us when we had reservations/dinner. The food was amazing! At the Ribera rest, everyone is fantastic as well. One of the Captain/Brenda at the Ribera Rest was so nice, helpful and took care of all our needs. The service at the pool was fantastic! The service deserve a 5 stars as well! The cleaning service was fantastic, same as room service! Overall, a great family stay. The location of the hotel is great too.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom suite. 5 stars to the service staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The grounds are kept and are beautiful. Other than that, we regret chosing the Velas. This place is old and needs a complete remodel. Our room smelled of mold/mildew. The drapes were old and incredibly dusty. The mattresses were stiff and some of the bathroom fixtures were not attached. The front door has gaps to allow all the critters in. The roof of the balcony seems to be on its way out. On the 4th day after a night of rain, the ceiling in the living room and bathroom leaked in 4 places. From the smell, this place seems to have issues with water a lot. They got us to a new room Immediately which we appreciated. The new room was not as clean. It also had a jacuzzi which our children were excited for. We called down to have some leaves cleaned out of it. They emptied it half way, cleaned it and filled it back up. My children quickly realized after burning to their skin and eyes that they put bleach in it. Their bathing suits were completely ruined. But the worst part was the food. Inedible most of the time. After paying for all inclusive, it was disappointing to have to go out to eat. Both restaurants at the Vellas serve the exact same food. The staff, again, was amazing. And our children loved the pools. We made the best of our trip bit would never go back to the Velas
