Velas Vallarta Suites Resort garners praise for its vibrant atmosphere, with guests often enjoying cultural events and performances that enliven their stay. While opinions on value vary, with some guests finding the all-inclusive options a plus and others considering it pricey, the resort's convenient location near the airport and downtown is a consistent highlight. Service generally receives accolades for being friendly and attentive, though occasional lapses are noted in room service and check-in. Amenities are appreciated, though there are suggestions for improvements. Rooms are recognized for their cleanliness despite some feedback on outdated decor and size.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed for 2 weeks at Velas and just returned yesterday. We stayed in a deluxe 1 bedroom suite. The suite worked well for our family with a 10 and 12 year old. King bed in separate room for us.

We had a great vacation! Service was second to none. We tipped our servers and waiters well and got to know them a bit and we were treated like royalty. We didn’t wait for anything. Even our breakfast table was ready for us each morning. Mimosa, coffees and kid drinks were waiting for us as we approached the line. Easily the best service we have had over our 15 or so all inclusive trips south.

Usually had lunches by the pool so we didn’t have to dry off each time. It was also excellent. If something isn’t on the menu, No Problem. Fish tacos and shrimp burritos were awesome and weren’t on the menu. But all the food on lunch menu was good, burgers, pizza and hand breaded Panko chicken fingers were our fams favourites.

Suppers were also excellent. The steaks on steak night were very good and all food at Andrea was excellent. It was easy to get reservations for Andrea and we ate most of our suppers there. Every dish for supper was excellent. No complaints even from the kids. The pasta station was excellent a couple times a week. I should note that there is a buffet OR Ala carte for every meal at each resturant.

Drinks were excellent. Beer was cold. I was skeptical at beer choices, Tecate, Tecate light, Bohemia and Dos xx. But they were all good. Antonio and Javier at the pool bar were excellent and kept everybody hydrated.

Our trip was made so much better with the service. Ivan took care of us around the pool. He is a great guy. He hussles all day, and stood out to me. Very genuine person. Other pool waiters that stood out were Edwin and Carlos. Andrea was always picking up dishes and glasses also giving out popsicles. She was a busy person. Our waiters at Ribera were also awesome. Oscar was super, went the extra mile everyday. Carlos, Kevin and Diego also took great care of us. Hector, Raul and Severino at Andrea were awesome also.

Unlike other resorts, it’s easy to see Velas cares for its patrons and doesn’t take the cheap way out. BBQ ribs and deep fried red snapper were a couple of the extra lunch stations that were setup by the pool during our stay. Casino/kareoke night show was fun and the other shows were decent.

Velas was great and we will be back for sure. Tip your servers and sit back, relax and be pampered.

Thank you so much, Tim, for your "Top-Notch" review, which includes some of the wonderful and delicious photos from your visit. As the director, I am very proud to read that after your two-week vacation, the service and quality of the food never let up at any time. We do our utmost when striving for consistency, as we feel it's essential to instill ongoing confidence in our guests with our service and product. And having marvelous staff like Andrea, Ivan, Edwin, Carlos, and others giving their best efforts each day, and always with a smile and a good word or two, is a sign that you chose your vacation destination very well. And for two growing teens, food is of the greatest importance, and I'm glad they found all that they needed right at their fingertips. Tim, we look forward to hosting your lovely family for another two-week vacation experience next year. You can always be assured that we'll always have a few new culinary surprises waiting for you. My family (all adults) recently met at this resort to have a holiday together. My husband and I started out with a one bedroom suite that smelled very musty and offensive throughout the unit. It was located close to the water treatment facility for the resort. It was rather dark and had a very limited ocean view. We had requested “the best ocean view possible” that was available at that time. After one night in that unit I asked to be moved to a higher floor with a better view and one that did not smell badly. I am writing this review to thank both Jaiker and Gabriel who helped us! They work at the front reception counter and they found a beautiful one bedroom suite for us that was available the following day. Our holiday was for two weeks; we moved to the new suite the following day and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a beautiful ocean view and a lovely fresh clean scent to the unit.

I would also like to recognize and thank the Head Bellman, Miguel. He booked a private tour for us to see nearby areas. He was very pleasant, helpful and professional! The driver for our tour was also very professional and an excellent tour driver/guide with a new, beautiful air-conditioned car.

These people made our stay very pleasant. We loved the gardens at this resort, the pools, the peacocks and one iguana that passed us by near a pool. We found the food to be delicious and the service very friendly and excellent. The resort location is convenient for walks to the marina which is enjoyable. Our suite and the entire resort seemed very clean and well kept. Staff worked hard to make sure guests were happy. We enjoyed our stay once we were moved from our original suite.

Thank you very much, Anne, for electing to reserve with us at Velas Vallarta for your two-week vacation. I am glad to learn that my staff reacted accordingly to your request to move to a higher floor. During periods of high occupation, it is sometimes a challenge to accommodate every guest's request. Still, I am appreciative of the efforts of Jaiker ad Gabriel in making your stay more comfortable. And you can be assured that your initial suite has been inspected and is in impeccable condition. I hope that the many positive points of your experience intice you to return next year for some more well-deserved pampering. Until then, we remain at your service for all your vacation needs. Just spent a week sharing a 3BR condo rental during the first week of February This our 6th visit to PV and comparing all the places we’ve stayed, this is the best for these reasons. The location is a very short distance from the airport and a short walk or taxi to the Marina where there are lots of restaurants and nice boardwalk. The resort itself is a mixture of timeshares and owned condos (which can be rented). Because the condos have owners they can have different amenities and furniture, but mostly have everything you need including washer/dryer. The service for any condo issues (such as faucets, fans etc) are INSTANTLY resolved by the condo managers (thank you Brenda!) and I’m sure for timeshare suites also. The grounds are absolutely spectacular with a 2 large pools separated by a lazy river. Also a large children pool. The lazy river and one pool is heated (which thin blooded people from Arizona really appreciate) with a swim up bar and a portion overlooks the beach and ocean. A restaurant overlooks the beach and pool and the food was really good. Slightly more elegant resorts in PV tend to have much more walking and often shuttles to get to/from anything, while Velas Vallarta is more compact and much easier to navigate. Consider opting out of ‘all inclusive’ because the restaurants in the Marina area are terrific and the on site restaurants are reasonably priced. There’s a lots of daily entertainment for the kiddos and adults, though we didn’t participate. Heads up that the best spots, ie tables and lounge chairs, are reserved ‘with towels’ very early by seniors before 5AM and if you’re at the pool after 9AM good luck trying to find 4 chairs together in a decent spot. (This is a problem in most resorts BTW). Needless to say the entire staff at the resort were friendly and helpful. One other ‘heads up’, during the high season, PV airport customs was having 2 hour lines to get through. Didn’t happen to us but we heard horror stories.
Overall we absolutely loved staying at Velas Vallarta and I highly recommend staying there and can’t wait to go back.

Thank you for taking a few moments to describe the beauty and comfort of Velas Vallarta, as well as the wonderful service that guests receive when residing with us. There are many things that make up a successful vacation experience, and one of those aspects is the maintenance and upkeep of our suites. When reserving directly with our resort, you can expect high standards on the state of our units. The air conditioning, water temperature and pressure, new appliances, and our Sleep Ease beds are revised and inspected, all for the greater good of our visitors. When renting private units, however, the conditions of that condo may be inconsistent. But our obligation to you to provide you with outstanding service in our restaurants and bars, which is truly second to none. Thank you again for sharing your appreciation for Velas Vallarta and for Puerto Vallarta. This truly is an amazing vacation destination, and the remodelation of the airport will undoubtedly help with the efficient arrival and departure of all our valued visitors. Until next time, we remain at your service, LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL HOTEL VELAS VALLARTA

I love all the thoughtful extra touches here- like toothbrushes, toothpaste, beverages and snacks already in the room along with plates, cups, towels etc. Every room is a suite with full kitchen. The food selections are wonderful and I could live on the fantastic guacamole and pico with corn and beans. I liked it so much as a side at lunch that i got it for dinner by room service last night. Papaya with sliced almonds was a wonderful breakfast. Worth the all inclusive price for so much quality!

Thank you very much, Rhonda, for bringing to light all the little touches that added up to make your Velas Vallarta Guest Experience "worth the all inclusive price." As you described, there is much more to our package than just the cost of food and beverage. There are many thoughtful touches that we have incorporated into our concept such as all the in-suite amenities, full use of a restocked mini-bar, and the vast array of menu items in our restaurant, pool, and suite service menus. Then there is the quality of all those items. We don't just use basic quality, but, for example, the linen and tableware that is normally found in world-class restaurants are used in our dining venues, which is just one of many examples of what makes Velas Vallarta a complete vacation, full of variety and quality for all our guest's ample tastes. We hope that the wonderful memories and your glowing photos entice you to return sooner than expected to continue pampering yourselves in our unique version of upscale all-inclusive. Until next time, Rhonda, we place ourselves at your service for all your future needs and requests. Thank you! LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL HOTEL VELAS VALLARTA

Pros: Wonderful staff, nice beach, beautiful grounds
Cons: Studio rooms are not nice, very poor fitness room, average food

We enjoyed our stay at the Velds Vellarta, namely because the staff are so friendly and helpful, and the grounds of the hotel, and beach are excellent. But there are some drawbacks that you need to be aware of when booking.

First is the rooms. We made the mistake of booking a studio room, which is more like a motel room than a hotel room. There is no balcony, and a walkway in front of the rooms windows, meaning no privacy! Not what I was expecting for the price of the hotel and a real negative start to the vacation. In the end we spent as little time in the room as possible. I would recommend that you select a room with a balcony, they seem much better.

The food at the hotel is strictly OK. Some items are good, and some not at all; and what you get is really a lottery. You can order a steak and have a great cut, or get a piece of shoe leather. Of course the staff were great and had no problem switching your food if you didn't like something. Still I found that after 4 days the food all seemed the same.

The fitness room is very disappointing. 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals and 2 bikes. That's it. No weights and one of the bikes was broken. One of the worst fitness rooms I've ever seen.

The location of the hotel is fine. It's 10 minutes walk to the Marina, which has some bars and restaurants. And the hotel is about a 20 minute cab ride to the centre of town. Uber is an option.

Tip: If you book the hotel go for a walk on the beach. About 15-20 minutes walk north is a turtle sanctuary where they are looking after turtle eggs and hatching babies to protect them from birds. Its pretty cool

Thank you very much, Luc, for selecting Velas Vallarta as your winter holiday destination and also for taking the time to share with us some of the pros and cons that you felt during your stay. At Velas Vallarta, we now have thirty years of invaluable experience hosting fine guests, such as yourself. We have learned to place focus on the Guest Experience with our warm and authentic style of hospitality. As an example of our service ethic, you have witnessed my waiters and chefs doing their best to bring you the dishes that you most enjoy, just the way you require them. That attention to detail also extends to our front desk staff. To further your holiday experience in the comfort of a larger suite, my staff can aid you in obtaining one of the various suite categories that can suit your needs. Our studio suite, being our most economical, is nicely appointed with all the luxuries of our larger suites, and just as you mentioned, without a balcony. Perhaps, on a possible future visit, you can invest a little more in a one-bedroom unit and take advantage of all the extra space and the beautiful view that is offered. I will also instruct my front desk and concierge staff to make mention to all our adult guests that they have access to our nearby sister resort's gymnasium, which is complete with free and machine weights and acts as a complement to our cardio gym, two-minute transportation included. Thank you again, Luc, for recognizing the fine efforts of my staff, as well as the beautiful grounds and beach that we are blessed to have. We hope to have the pleasure of making your next stay at Velas Vallarta a complete success and look forward to serving your needs throughout. Until then, sir, we continue to place ourselves at your service, LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL HOTEL VELAS VALLARTA

This is the 20th year of our visits to the Velas Vallarta
and for good reason. They treat you as if you were
family. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary
with our daughter, son in law, and grandson and
our stay was beyond enjoyment. The Concern for
safety due to COVID was absolutely flawless.
Every precaution was taken and we never feared
for our health.
Special recognition should be given to Omar who
heads up the management of Andrea ( the dinner
restaurant) along with Brenda, who oversaw a
wonderful dinner prepared for Thanksgiving,and
Our anniversary party.
For absolutely top notch service and food preparation
the La Ribera restaurant (breakfast and lunch)
which is headed up by Christina the manager, offers multiple choices of local and international plates
that are fresh and inviting.
The rooms are spotless, sanitized daily, and
restocked each day with mini bar goodies, and
room service is available a no extra charge.
This is a five star facility in our opinion and it’s
goal seams to be perfection. I think they reach
their goal.

I was here with my 20 year old son and husband December 28 2019-January 4 2020. It was our first visit to PV, I have been to the Mayan over 12 times. I thought people might appreciate a comparison of resorts, so here it is. Velas Vallarta is a small cozy resort compared to the giants on the east coast. It has 2 restaurants. Both are open for breakfast and lunch but I only ever used la Ribera which had a beach view. They had menus but also a buffet which for breakfast had an egg station, a french toast/waffle/pancake station as well as the usual breakfast foods. Lunch was also menu or buffet and they had a stir fry station which gave great food.
Kudos to Gabriela who made the best waffles and Oney Kevin Diana and Christina for the excellent service! Supper was by reservation for Andrea restaurant, you could only reserve the day of and the menu changed nightly. I had Asian and Italian food and everything was good. Thanks Enrique Omar Julio and Antonio for great service! One night I went to la Ribera for steak and was disappointed, the food was definitely worth the reservation at Andrea. They also have a Mexican fiesta on Sundays, I did not enjoy the food personally but there was a lot of selection and great entertainment. They should consider having a pinata though for the kids. The pools have excellent wait staff who came by constantly with food or drink. If you try to order a drink or food by walking up to the bar they will help you but you can tell they prefer you deal with a waiter at your lounge chair. The beach is not as pretty as the east coast but you can walk for miles in both directions. The pools are also heated which was wonderful and a first for me in Mexico. The junior suite room had one bed and one sofa bed, we would have preferred 2 beds. Housekeeping was excellent. I only left the resort once to go on a walking tour with Tania to the marina which was fun, thanks very much Tania! I felt very safe on the street outside the resort, it reminded me of being in Arizona or Palm Springs. So to summarize, great beach, great service, heated pool, wonderful food but all in a smaller space than the typical Mayan resort and that is not a bad thing :)

First, allow me to thank you for deciding to vacation on the west coast of Mexico and, in particular, reserving with us at Velas Vallarta. As you kindly mention, there truly is a world of difference between Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Maya. Firstly, there is the time and distance needed to go from the airport to the hotel. Here we are comfortably accessible, making traveling a non-factor. The small-town feel of Puerto Vallarta has attracted thousands of fans for decades as the humble people of this region certainly are proud of their clean city and its safety. Visually, you will, perhaps, never find any other beach destination in Mexico that offers such a beautiful panorama of the ocean and mountains together. There is nothing flat about Puerto Vallarta, and these natural characteristics indeed do transmit a tropical personality within all your photographs and postcards. And then you have Velas Vallarta. Not a mega-resort as you are accustomed to, but more of an intimate oasis where everybody knows your name. And that is worth its weight in gold, considering the friendships that are made between our guests and the staff. We hope that this experience opens you up to more holiday travels to the west side of Mexico and that you become comfortable with the warm and welcoming atmosphere that Puerto Vallarta and Velas Vallarta are widely known for. Until next time, we remain at your service for any future need or request. Thank you! LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL HOTEL VELAS VALLARTA

This is our second visit to Velas during a Worldwide Pandemic. The first being in 2009 during the Swine Flu H1N1 pandemic. Once again, Velas did not disappoint us with their safety protocols. Coming from NJ, which was one of the first hardest hit states in the USA, with some of the most stringent safety protocols, we were happy to see that Velas was above and beyond anything that we were experiencing at home.

From the moment we stepped out of the taxi safety measures were immediately implemented. (luggage sanitized and covered, hand sanitizer, foot mat sanitizer, etc.) All of the employees wear mask and face shields throughout the resort. Our temperature was taken prior to check in. Prior to entering our room there was seal on the door indicating that everything had been sanitized. Inside the room remotes, pens, etc. were all in sealed plastic.

Despite the fact that there are limited dining options with modified menus the food has been sensational. Honestly, you can order off the menu and if they can do it they will. As always, room service is the best. The Velas standards that we're are all accustomed to haven't changed. We are extremely pleased that we made the trip.

We had planned this trip in January before COVID-19. Since they were open we decided to give it a try. We are so happy we did. Everybody at Velas went above and beyond to keep us safe. We were so impressed with all that they were doing! We actually felt safer down in Mexico than the United States. When you arrive at the Resort you have to go through a health screening then they sanitize your suitcases. Each time you come or go from the resort you get your temperature taken. Each time you go into a restaurant you have to go through a sanitation mat and use hand sanitizer. Everyone at the hotel is wearing masks and eye protection. It was very quiet. There were very few activities and only the beach restaurant was open for breakfast and lunch. Andreas was the only open restaurant for dinner. The food options were a little limited but we were very happy. All the pools and beaches are open. We went downtown one day and most restaurants and shops are open however, the Malecon is closed. It was wonderful to see some old faces. Jacinto, Miguel, Tino, Marcellino and Julio took great care of us. Christian in activities did a great job! Can’t wait to come back! ❤️🇲🇽

We recently had our wedding here and in our most sincere review, it was a great/awesome/best decision we could’ve had! We got married here in November, 2020 and due to covid we had already postponed our wedding before and we just decided that we wanted to get it over with! In a month of planning, our coordinator Nubia Ramirez, did an excellent job planning the whole thing in just a month! Everything we had imagined had turned out to be better than expected! The service in every aspect of the hotel was phenomenal! Every single one in the hotel that works there was nice, greeted every time they would see you, maintained their distance, every personal had a mask and when we arrived at the hotel they have personal at the entrance to take your belongings and disinfect them, as well as checked our temperature and had hand sanitizer available at all times. We felt safe, we had a great time and most of all they made our wedding come true. I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. Velas I hope to see you soon again. For those who are thinking of a place to visit whether it’s for a weekend, vacation, relaxing with the family or any type of event is money well spent, I wish we had chosen this a long time ago

Is the beach rocky or sandy and swimmable? Finding mixed reviews...

Thank you for your great question, When enjoying ocean activities such as swimming, it is always prudent to be aware of the sea conditions at all times. Although we use a system of colored flags to indicate the challenge level at the moment. As for rocks and stones, perhaps you've seen a variety of descriptions, and that may be due to the ever-changing ocean currents. One day, you may find the seabed to be rocky, and the next, very smooth. That is just one example of the power of the ocean. Thank you again for your interest in Velas Vallarta. We are at your service for all your vacation needs. Donald Willis, Guest Services, Velas Resorts

Thank you, Melanie, for your important question, Our beach is swimmable all year round. However, there are, at times, unfavorable and dangerous conditions due to weather systems, wave size, or ocean currents. One can enjoy the Pacific just as many jet skiers and ocean enthusiasts do, but just exercise precaution and be aware of the flag indications wherever you may be around the bay.
