Nice but a bit inconvenient

Reviewed Apr 9, 2023via mobile
We just got back from T&C last week and stayed at the Vista Azul and also next door at the Queen Angel. The property and grounds were very nice and the pools were nice too. Our VRBO unit was super tiny so I would definitely research better next time as there are bigger units there. You really have to largely rely on getting groceries because there’s not much around. In the courtyard there’s a little gelato place that serves food and down the road is a cute cafe called Turks Wave. There’s a restaurant Simone’s but we hardly saw anyone there. Three other restaurants at the Turtle Cove Marina are Mangoes, Sharkbite, and Baci. It was just inconvenient not really having anything onsite, like if you wanted to grab a water or soda. You also have to walk about 10 minutes to the beach, and the access is hard to find. It definitely is more affordable staying there - $180/night, but you have to consider needing a car to get groceries. It’s a quieter area too.

Building 4 unit 204 was dirty. This is owned privately and rented by owner. Kitchen had bare minimum of items to use. 2 spoons!!!? Electrical outlets were mostly blown. More sticky smudges than I care to see. Everywhere in the kitchen, bathroom, living space. The mirror had marks than obviously wasnt cleaned. The bathroom had leftover sand and needed a deep clean. The fridge was noisy and needed fixing. The freezer had left over food from previous renters. If you ask the receptionist for help since this is privately owned will redirect you to the owner- and of course they dont have contact info for them.
The hotel however is conveniently located to the beach and restaurants. Chaulk beach area where all the touristy things are about a drive away as is the nearest grocery store. The hotel otherwise apart from this unit was clean. The gym is straight out of the 80’s and is about 200sqft. Wifi is only available in your suite.

It was a beautiful place to stay, but shouldn’t be titled as a hotel. Was more like a vrbo, because no one was helpful when in need. Was greeted with a very rude receptionist and housekeeper both with attitudes. Mannerism isn’t a thing in TC that’s for sure. But the 3-star hotel offers a spacious room, with kitchen, w/d unit, spacious closet, and more towels and pillows in closets.

Room tip: Make sure to do your own research because helpfulness isn’t guaranteed at Hotel La Vista Azul.

Do yourself a favor and stay literally ANYWHERE else. For starters this should barely be considered a hotel. If you take a look at the website and think "oh this isn't that bad" you'd be wrong. The website pictures are EXTREMELY misleading. This is actually a condo building that has various rooms available to stay in. We were treated to a ground floor room with a lovely view of the parking lot. Among the overall grey motif and mysterious stains on the wall we were also lucky enough to find dead bug splatters throughout the room and a moldy shower head. The "staff" were incredibly rude and could not be bothered with helping us with anything. I put "staff" in quotes because they aren't hotel staff, they manage the condo. They aren't intended to be helpful especially with any needs you'd expect from a concierge or anyone working at a resort or hotel.

We only stayed for one night and it was one too many. If you ever stay here expecting a nice hotel/resort feel you'll be so sad and your trip will be ruined. So again, stay literally ANYWHERE else -- you'll be so glad you did.

Room tip: Stay at a different hotel

Thank you for your comments. We are disappointed you had some challenges during your visit. While we are not located directly on the beach, we offer the best value in Grace Bay. The imagery is not misleading on our website: the photos were taken professionally and show our pools, sun deck, and views of Grace Bay. Our staff checks on guests at the beginning of a stay, during, and upon checkout. We wish you safe travels in the future.

I killed a cockroacj my first night. There was no telephone number for their front desk in the room. I had to physically go to reception the next day and they offered to spray the room. The shower only had cold water. When I told front desk, they said someone came to fix it, but the water was still cold. It wasn't fixed until 15 minutes before I checked out. I was never offered any efforts at service recovery.

Stayed here for just one night. Room was pleasant if a little small. Spotlessly clean with great A/C and really terrific bed. Ate at Simones (adjacent). Food was quite good, if a little expensive.
Had a glitch with pick up not showing up. Person in office (wish I had her name) was so kind in getting us transportation! Really helped us out of a jam!
Would stay here again without hesitation.

Room tip: No elevator. Stayed on ground floor.
