We just returned from an outstanding stay at The Sands. Reading the negative reviews leading up to our trip had us a bit uneasy on what to expect, but upon arrival, we were put at ease. and following our trip we have nothing but great things to say about our experience.

From the minute we stepped out of the taxi from the airport, we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff, who continued to be helpful, warm, and accommodating throughout our stay. Anything we needed, they were there to help.

Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived, so we changed and headed to the beach to encounter a great beach staff. They were equally as friendly and helpful, setting up towels, chairs and umbrellas for us and made sure that we had that same first class experience the entire week we were there. No having to run to the beach at 7am to make a "land grab", Bernard was awesome and made sure that we had our chairs/towels/umbrellas set up daily when we arrived. The Sands also has Sea Kayaks, Hobie Sailboats, and Paddleboards for use and we never had to wait long for one, if at all. The stretch of beach at The Sands is absolutely beautiful. It is not crowded and everyone has space to enjoy the day.

While on the beach, there are servers from Hemmingway's making the rounds to make sure you are getting anything you may need. Rose and Sandra were friendly, attentive and always made sure we had a drink in our hands. Well done ladies! The food at Hemmingway's was very good. We didn't have dinner there, but breakfast and lunch were solid, and didn't disappoint. In the evenings, there is always someone performing music and is a great place to have a cocktail to wrap up the evening.

As for accommodations, there has been some talk in other reviews about rooms being outdated, but I can say that we were very happy with our room. We were in building 1 and had a 1-bedroom Ocean View room and it was spacious, clean, and exceeded our expectations for sure. The screened-in porch was great to sit on and have morning coffee and look out unobstructed to the beautiful ocean. The housekeeping staff always made sure the room was cleaned, beds made and turned down daily. The water pressure in the shower may not have been as strong as we liked, but that was really the only issue(if you want to call it that) we had at all the entire week.

The Sands is also a short 10 minute walk in to town which was great. We were able to walk to dinner, shopping, and the local grocery store(expensive) to grab some things for the room. They also have bicycles that you can reserve to ride to town as well.

While I can't speak to the other reviews and experiences, I can say that our stay at The Sands was outstanding on every level, and we can't wait to return. Thank you to everyone at The Sands that made our family vacation memorable and one of the best we have ever had!

My husband and wanted to go away for our first anniversary but it was in the midst of COVID. We followed all of the rules required for visiting Turks and Caicos and luckily was able to enjoy this beautiful Island.

Upon arrival, we thought the hotel looked a little outdated especially when brought to our first "courtyard view" room, but it got much better. Barbara was very helpful and sweet and had no problem moving our room, which was 100x better than our first. Following, we grabbed the hotel bikes and rode into town to the grocery store, since The Sands only has one restaurant on property. It was no more than a 5-10 minute bike ride, however, be prepared to bring a backpack or bags with handles to bring back groceries.

The property is beautiful! It was a little odd to be almost the only ones on property, but we found beauty in the silence and privacy. There are all these hidden pool areas that make this property romantic. They have a comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas around the whole property. The lazy river and spa were great as well!

Now the beach...unlike any beach we had ever been on. SO BEAUTIFUL! The resort had lounge chairs and tiki umbrellas with little tables! The water was so clear that you can go in up to your neck and see your feet. There wasn't any seaweed or rocks! The beach was a beautiful walk in both directions and it was easy to access other restaurants from the beach. We ate at Hemmingways a few times which was pretty good. We used the tennis court at night, which has bright stadium lights! The hotel provided the rackets and balls. They have kayak rentals and paddle boarding but we never got around to that. The hotel property isn't big but it was just the right size for our anniversary getaway during this time.

The staff at The Sands were great! They were so warm and welcoming and very accommodating.

We did not rent a car, but we didn't have a problem. There are so many restaurants nearby, and when we wanted to go to one further in town, we just had our hotel call a cab.

Just be aware, the prices of things (groceries, souvenirs, restaurants, alcohol, etc.) is very expensive.

first time to Turcs and Caicos and very pleased. Read reviews on The Sands and had mixed feelings about staying there . I am not sure who writes such negative reviews. The place was beautiful. Beach was gorgeous, water picture perfect. Staff at Check- in were friendly, courteous , and professional ( Special thanks to Yudelka for printing boarding passes). We had a 1 bedroom condo ( # 2301) set back from beach with a partial ocean view, full kitchen, screened in porch, king size bed ,very clean. Housekeeper was fantastic. The Sands had many complimentary services/ amenities i.e., fitness center, bicycles free for use, kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling gear, pool/beach towels, beach palapas ( beach attendant Eddie was the best), heated pool. Hemingway's restaurant ( not operated by resort) on the premises. Food was good ,but pricey. The Sands is located within walking distance to town where there are many restaurant options. Recommend Caicos Cafe, Shay Cafe , Bay Bistro ( on beach next door to the Sands), Cocovan ( food truck). Food/drink prices in Providenciales pricey. Purchased groceries /beer/wine at IGA store . Box of Frosted Flakes was $8.99.. Taxis are readily available but we were charged a different price every time. "Nick of Time" taxi charged us $30 for trip to airport ( about a 20 minute ride)...try someone else. The Sands has sister resorts ( Palms and Shore Club) which you can visit. We enjoyed our stay at The Sands and we will return.

The sands was nice, but not as luxurious as they try to appear. The rooms are nice but somewhat worn and very in need of a refresh. Be aware that the 3 bedroom condo is false advertising; it is two separate 1 bedroom units with their connecting doors open. The 3rd “bedroom” is a small sitting area like you’d find for a 1 bedroom suite. It has no closet and no easy bathroom access. Worst of all, it doesn’t have a proper bed, they just unfolded a fold-out sofa. I could have saved a few thousand dollars by reserving a 2 bedroom condo if I’d known my youngest was going to end up on the couch either way.
I will say the resort beach was gorgeous; it was clean and quiet, and there we usually enough lounge chairs. My kids loved hunting seashells in the crystal clear water. Their “heated” pool was not heated until our 3rd day, but once they turned it on it was a great temperature for all day swimming.
The food at the onsite restaurant was excellent, although dinner reservations were definitely required. There are a number of shops and other restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk. Mother’s pizza was a hit with everyone, and Provence was excellent for a romantic date night.
Overall, this was a beautiful island, and the resort was nice, but nothing extraordinary. If I return I’ll probably try a different resort.

We stayed in a two bedroom plus den ocean view unit. This could be considered a three bedroom because there is a pull-out sofa in a room with a door. This room also has its own mini refrigerator and microwave. In addition there was a king master suite and another queen bedroom. This unit has a full kitchen and an amazing screened in porch with views of the ocean. The living room has an additional sleep sofa and a half bath with washer and dryer. We stayed in an ocean view unit, but were able to enjoy the beautiful water views from our porch area. The thing that makes the Sands an amazing place to stay is the staff. From the front desk, to the management, to the restaurant staff, we were always greeted with a smile and helpful attitude. We had an issue with our refrigerator and when it was not fixed properly the manager went above and beyond to correct the issue. I also had read a few reviews about the unit being dirty, but our housekeeper was absolutely amazing! She not only made the beds, but would unpack the dishwasher and make sure the floors were swept and mopped. As for the beach area, the water is so clear you can see your toes when you are up to your neck.
The Sands provides towels, beach loungers (although people grab these quickly and it can be hard to find an open umbrella), and even snorkel gear and water sports items such as floats, paddleboards, etc. The Turk & Caicos was the most friendly island we have visited so far and the Sands at Grace Bay was beyond our expectations. Thank you so much for making our visit so enjoyable! Hope to be back.

The moment you arrive Oral the bellman will greet you with a big smile and bring you over to the reception desk where Michelle will fill out the paperwork and offer a welcome drink. Next you will be shown to your room past beautiful landscaping and into a clean and well appointed setting. The beds and linens are high quality along with plenty of towels ,lotions and soaps in the bathrooms. The kitchens are nicely equipped with basic cooking utensils, blender ,toaster, salt pepper sugar and a dishwasher, A fully enclosed screen porch has lounge chairs along with a table for out door dining. A full size fridge and stove will let you provide some great food. Hemingway's restaurant has excellent food and the manager Caroline with long black hair makes certain that everything is as it should be and if you are lucky Maria from Jamaica will be your waitress. My wife Kathy and I have traveled all through the Caribbean and have stayed in many hotels and the Sands really made a big impression with us on our vacation this year. The only small problem was the noise that the weed wackers and leaf blowers made but it is necessary to keep the grounds in top shape maybe electric equipment might work better. TCI is a safe island and security at the Sands is excellent and kept very subtle and the guests will never notice anything but I know what to look for. This is a great family place and all the kids I saw were well behaved and no one was wearing their ball caps backwards or lots of ink on their arms or wearing basketball shorts if you know what I am saying. Also here is no smoking allowed on the property and all this helps to create pleasant surroundings. We met lots of nice people mostly from the US and I thought I heard a few foreign accents and we had a great time overall. One evening we went out to a place to have dinner and listen to some local music it was called Bogaloos do not go there is was awful. To sum everything up Kathy and I had a fantastic time at the Sands and will return soon it is our kind of place to relax. Dick K.

Jonice GT wrote a review Jan 2020
Our two bedroom condo had problems so numerous that the resort should be ashamed. These included: significant rust and corrosion of the dishwasher (such that we could not use it); corrosion on many bath fixtures, a nonfunctional freezer (virtually all our frozen food spoiled), rusted out appliances (toaster and certain silverware), and tile floors that were permanently filthy such that our feet were black on the bottom if not wearing shoes. Floor tiles were cracked, with missing chunks, and grout that was blackened. The hot water tank would only allow two of us to have a quick shower before it ran out. We also rented an ocean view condo, but all we could see was a parking lot in between us and the ocean in the distance. This was significant because the deck/screened porch faced the parking lot. We begged to either be moved within the resort, moved to a sister property, or be given a refund of our remaining days so that we could just leave! Hotel denied us all of these things. On day five, we were moved to a bigger, different unit, but many of the other problems remained- rusted fixtures, corrosion, stains on furniture, and major hot water issues. Two of the rooms smelled so horribly of mold that we could not use them. Our last day, the resort experienced a "pipe break." We had no water at all for many hours causing us to miss our afternoon plans, and eat dinner at 9 pm. Water was off again the next morning as we were trying to get ready to go to the airport. HORRIBLE!!

Dear jgtworld, We feel it is necessary to further explain the details of your stay to our readers as there are some things you have left out. Firstly, we sincerely apologize for any inconveniences you experienced during your stay, and when you were here, we had personally apologized several times for any of our shortfalls as well as provided options, and hospitality gestures. We do acknowledge that we had a water main pipe burst expectantly and even more to our dismay another one burst shortly after. This was unforeseen and when it occurred we immediately reached out to our guests to inform them of the circumstances, and provided gallon size bottled waters as well. Water was restored within hours, though the second pipe took longer to repair, not all buildings were affected. Indeed, you did reserve a two-bedroom ocean view suite. This room is a beautiful ocean view, almost completely unobstructed with the exception of partially viewing 2 of our other resort room buildings on the west side – yes, it is through the unoccupied land parcel and the beach access, but there is no obstruction and nothing to hide or hinder the view of the ocean at all. The room may be numbered as a ground floor, but quite honestly it is situated higher than the ground level due the construction of that building as it houses a lower level and is raised above ground level. We understand at the very beginning you wanted to have a different room view, and did not like the initial room we provided, but we explained we were full and could not offer any change at that time and later was able to find a different offering for later in your stay. Although the manager explained this to you, and took corrective measures, you told her you wanted your deposit back. Although the manager explained to you that we operate independently and are separate business company’s, you told the Housekeeping staff, and the manager that we did not know who we were dealing with and that if you did not get your refund you will make our lives a living hell, you further threatened us by telling them that you will write a bad review if we did not give you a full refund on your non-refundable festive season reservation. You retorted that you will blast us all over social media, and anything you can think of until we give you your money back, that this is what you do for a living, and that you are an expert at this - even telling the manager that you will make it rain “sh&% on us” until we give you a refund and that you can be a monster. Also, you said to the staff that we must Google you so we can know who you are and that you can sue all of us. It is unfortunate these numerous and vulgar threats were made to our Housekeeping staff, and managers, and that a lot of other information about your stay was left out. To be fair at times things may break or not work as such things can and do happen, but we will do our very best to fix it, even replace it if we can, and we will respond to any request as quickly as possible so that guests may enjoy their vacation/get-away. We feel our readers should be made fully aware of the circumstances and that you accepted all the gestures we provided. We are and have been committed to and take pride in providing a great quality product with good value, along with friendly caring staff and services. Sincerely, Guest Relations Manager

Our family travels a lot, and we don’t like going or staying long in general, so when COVID grounded us for a year, we were in need of a long and restful vacation.
We picked the Sands based on the location and the two room suite, but we fell in love with the Sands for its quality, cleanliness, and beauty!
The rooms are comfortable and the staff keeps everything in top shape. The pool area and beach were never crowded, and just the right mix of family and couples.
Our 5 yr old made several fast friends over the TWO WEEKS we stayed. We had all sorts of fun activities from parasailing and bottom fishing to snorkeling and a few lazy days on the beach. All activities picked up at the hotel beach and we never felt hassled or hustled on this overall public beach.
The Sands is located in the prime center of two open spaces - one to each side so we never were encroached upon by people outside the resort like we experienced in Dominican Republic.
Hemingway’s is a bonus +++ with delicious meals , some of the best dishes we had on the island, and premium and fun mixed drinks, beers and juices for the kids delivered beach and poolside all day!

Book here, stay here, relax and enjoy here. You will not be disappointed!

We loved our visit to the sands in mid March! When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and rum punch. We had originally booked a courtyard view room and quickly realized that was not the right decision. The courtyard rooms are very small with only 2 windows that overlook a hallway. They are small and cramped and do not feel like you are on a tropical vacation. I was very disappointed so we had the front desk change us to a garden view which was MUCH better. We had a little patio which we sat on every night. Well worth the up charge!
Overall the sands was lovely! The beach was beautiful! We made friends with the beach attendant and tipped him to save us front ocean beach chairs for every morning of our stay. The garden and landscape around the resort was absolutely beautiful. You are within walking distance to all the neighboring resorts and their restaurants as well as the little downtown area which has a ton of great restaurants and cafes. The location was PERFECT! We used the hotel provided bikes and would bike into town in the morning for coffee/snacks. Hemingway’s was also delicious and so nice to have as an option right on the property!
Overall we loved our stay at the sands! As a couple in our late 20s looking for a nice vacation without completely breaking the bank this really was perfect.

DKL wrote a review Feb 2020
After perusing endless reviews, we settled on The Sands @ Grace Bay + were pleasantly surprised! We were skeptical this hotel would be desperately in need of an update + no frills.

First- after walking the entire beach in both directions- the Sands has one of the widest stretches of beach +
most uncrowded of locations vs. other resorts with much more cramped
layouts + thin stretches of beach.

After Spa treatments + dinner @ Seven Stars Resort we were so happy to return to the Sand's resort of ease + authenticity + having saved additional funds as we found the service very poor at Seven Stars + lacking in warmth.

Our hotel room faced the water, in the building closest to reception, the room was large, clean + the lanai balcony bigger than expected with cozy lounge chairs. There was nothing to complain about unless you are seeking an ultra luxury resort where you get waited on hand + foot.

Hemingway's has a great view, a mediocre lunch + a fair breakfast. The bar service could benefit from an upgrade in client relations. We had access to a beach chair every day + preferred to have our chair placed at the property line. If you prefer to be centrally located and have a palapa you will need to be an early riser + save a chair. They did run out of towels a few times, we found if we collected our towels by 9 or 10, we were set, this could be improved upon.

Dellareese provided impeccable service upon arrival + extended us a beautiful room/location. Following our interaction with Dellareese with the exception of daily service with a phenomenal beach attendant, the service in reception could benefit from an upgrade. Their spirits seem daunted + low in morale which doesn't lend to the happy, 'welcome to our island' feel one Hopes for on vacation. It was a bit disappointing as their disposition colored our experience of the island. Bora Bora, Mexico + Jamaica eminated joyful, island prideful service we missed on Turks + Caicos at the Sands. We did see multiple trainings occurring + received the overall sense they are aware + upleveling.

Our goal was the calmest, least crowded, largest, stretch of beach + a clean, beautiful resort. We really struggled with our choice + almost opted for The Windsong, after seeing their busy, narrow beach + walking the island we were thrilled we followed our intuition. Sands at
Grace Bay definitely hit its mark! Excellent Value, look no further!

We were in building 4 and thought the rooms were great. Size was perfect for my wife and I and our two grown kids. I believe all the rooms are the same size or close to it. I wouldn’t pay extra for “bigger” rooms.

Not provided but offered for cost. You can always go to the IGA OR to the onsite resort market to purchase water and Turks beer too . Abt the same price. Hope that helps!
