Really helpful with food allergies

Reviewed Oct 10, 2021
Really enjoyed the place, nice pool areas, lots to do within the complex and nice beach attached to it, cheap to extend the room if your flight home is late at night, nice food and really helpful with my nut allergy, no complaints with the rooms either, would recommend going

The first things I will say about this hotel is that there is a French sector which is out of bounds to other nationalities. There is a requirement not to put any toilet paper down the loo but place it in a bin as the sewage systems can't handle the paper and get blocked - this a Corfu issue and not just this hotel. There is also the question of what 'all inclusive' means as beach sunbeds and the waterslide are charged for and the 'free' drinks end at 11pm. There is an elevator in the main building which looks like something from Jules Verne's Nautilus. The other accomodation blocks have only stairs which can be difficult if you are getting on a bit or of limited mobility. We were given a ground floor room in the end. The room we had was less than 50 yards from a lovely beach with warm calm water and 100 yards from the main building which houses the main bar and restaurant. The whole place was spotlessly clean and tidy, food was nothing exotic but was varied, plentiful and of a good standard covering both Greek and English cuisine along with some Italian pasta dishes. The beach cafe offers good snacks and drinks. The staff were all very courteous, hard working and helpful and fluent in English. The view is wonderfull with mountains all around and the Greek mainland only 10km across the sea. We had a lovely week here and plan to return next year for a fortnight.

Room tip: Best views are from the beach front Bungalows, if you are in an accomodation block try for a ground floor room to avoid the stairs.

It was our first holiday in Greece. But for sure - not last. The hotel was fine, rooms were clean. We've had a small problem with a room on the very first day of our stay, but there was no problem with that and we could change the room in 15 minutes. Foos was fine(but it was often cold).

Besides that this hotel wouldn't be the same without Spyros!!! Every night, this wonderful Man was giving his whole heart and energy on the stage. Those evenings were "VERY FUN, VERY FAST, VERY EASY. GOOD MEMORIES. "
I think we wouldn't have such a nice holiday without this beautiful soul Spyro!

My friend and I had booked to stay at this hotel next year and were actually due to go to Tunisia this September but that was cancelled and our travel agent suggested we go here as it was the closest in price to our original holiday so we agreed and thought we could check it out in advance of next years holiday we are so pleased we did we have had a fabulous holiday.
We were booked to stay in a superior twin room with sea view which was perfectly fine for us but then we noticed the beach front bungalows and went to enquire if there were any available for us to upgrade to and we were able to move from Tuesday so we had 3 nights there (the reception staff, who are marvellous) even offered to move our luggage for us) The bungalow was fabulous it gave us more room and an outside terrace with two padded sun-beds and a table and 2 chairs with direct access to the beach (not all the bungalows have direct sea view but all are very close to the sea) The upgrade price is €32 per night extra to what we had paid for our room which we felt was worth every euro.
The staff in the hotel were excellent, all very helpful, friendly and hardworking. The hotel is spotless, rooms are cleaned every day and new towels every two days or daily if needed, there is even a member of staff who brushes the sand off the sun-beds every morning and straightens them up.
The food in the restaurant was varied, not always a brilliant choice for non meat or fish eaters though this did improve in the latter part of the week and my friend was happy with the choices. It wasn’t always as hot as it could be but not cold and perfectly fine and as a meat and fish eater I found there to be plenty of variety and choice. If you don’t want to venture back to the restaurant at lunch time there is a beach restaurant you can access, less choice but again perfectly adequate.
The hotel is made up from several different buildings which is actually really nice and there is a shop selling beach stuff situated at the back of the hotel and also a jewellers and a mini mart on site which is really useful.

Some useful information
There is a lady (not affiliated) with the hotel who walks along the beach selling boat trips that go from the river at the side of the hotel. We went on the all day trip that took us to a small village then into the blue lagoon where we had a really good stop for swimming, then onto a cafe where more swimming could happen and as an added bonus we saw Dolphins. All this for €20 euros it was a fantastic day. We also went on an afternoon trip to Corfu old town with the same people for €10 and apart from getting very lost and nearly missing the boat back was wonderful. The old town was as you would expect an old town to be and the small alleys were an absolute joy to see and photograph.
If you fancy a walk or to eat out you can go out onto the beach and walk left for a few minutes and you’ll find a whole row of restaurants and bars and another supermarket it’s such a pretty walk too.
Would recommend you take or buy (available at the mini market) beach shoes as the beach and walk into the sea is quite rocky and the beach shoes cushion the impact on your feet.
I can’t find any negatives about this hotel and even though we only got back last night we are already looking forward to returning next year and are delighted we have been able to upgrade to a Beach Bungalow again. I would definitely recommend Messonghi Beach hotel.

Room tip: Take beach shoes as the beach is rocky. €6 a day for two sun-beds and an umbrella so take cash to the beach.

If not THE BEST. We stayed at Messonghi Beach Holiday Resort for 7 days. Starting with the overall first impression: This whole area that Hotel is placed in is just so HUGE, the front of the Hotel has wonderful illuminations directed at the olive trees so the view at night is just amazing. In my opinion this view is even better than the sea one. The hotel itself looks so much better live than on the pictures we saw on the internet before our travel - we were really impressed.

Going to the next section - Food, it is really, really good. You always have a lot to choose from and everything tastes very well. Breakfasts are the most repetetive but come on, how different can breakfasts be - they literally have everything that you would have at home so there is nothing to complain about. Besides breakfasts, the food to choose from is diferrent every day and the variety of it is just amazing. Everyone will find something for himself, which is cool.

Service - That was really impressive as those people smile all the time, everyone is very helpful and kind all the time, even the girls at the main bar are just so patient and always with the honest smile on their faces, it was really nice touch during that stay for sure.

The rooms are big enough to feel comfortable, same as balcony, only the bathrooms were looking a little bit old but to be honest there is nothing to complain about as well, everything was working fine. The room service was cleaning the room every day, changing the towels every two days or if there was such necessity, even every day. The aircondition was also working very well.

The back area of the hotel, where all the fun takes place (pools, animations, beach, beach bar, table tennis, beach restaurant) it was all fantastic. The fact that beach is so close to the hotel and it is exclusive for the hotel guests makes it even better - we have never had issues with finding the sunbeds for us. You have to pay for those 3eur/each but the price isn't that bad for Greek standards at all. You can play table tennis just next to the sea which is amazing (if the wind is not playing with you). During the beach day the cool thing about that hotel is that you do not have to go back to the main building to eat your dinner, you can go to the beach restaurant where you will have a little less choice but it is for sure enough.

Alright, enough about the hotel - it was just great and definitely deserves more than these 3/3.5 stars as sometimes I felt like being in a 5 star hotel. Honestly.

The animations at the hotel take place every evening and the subjects of those are different every day as well. Long story short - Thanks to those animations we didn't feel like we need to go outside of the hotel to do something productive. Those animations were funny, entertaining, thoughtful and all that thanks to the best man in the whole place - Spyrus. This guy has so much positive energy to spread that we were absolutely shocked. Every evening he needed only few minutes to actually get people to play with him or to take part in the activities he was coming up with. Besides being really good animator on the stage he is really someone with wonderful personality that makes you feel that you know eachother for a really long time, the connection just explodes to your face. He doesn't mind staying after whole day of work to have a chat or drink with guests that want to have some word with him. That's a shame that we couldn't find more time to spend together.

Anyway, those holidays were fantastic so from here I would like to say thank you Messonghi Beach Holiday Resort, thank you service staff, thank you Spyrus. See you again for sure!
