Bar Cañete comes highly recommended by many guests for its exceptional tapas, with the squid sandwich and lobster croquettes receiving particular acclaim. The lively atmosphere and stellar service frequently earn praise, with staff members described as friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Had a perfect dinner ! Worth the money although the portions were small the flavors made up for it the waiters could not have been nicer attentive and went above and beyond to give us a great meal. The arroz canete and the oxtail and the veal were excellent. Is a small place, busy, loud and definitely will go back when in Barcelona. Thanks for the birthday celebration the chocolate lava cake was the best I have ever had.

I've never been to Bar Cañete in all the times I have been to Barcelona but now I've eaten here, I will definitely return. On a side street just off La Rambla by the Liceu it looks nothing special from the outside but once inside it a cavern of tapas and fun. There are many items to choose & they all sound so good so best to order a lot of plates. The ham croqettas were good as was the crispy coca bread. The special Conil shrimp fritter cakes were delicious, the tomato salad with white tuna and anchovies perfectly fresh but the best dish was the tuna tataki, it was super soft , fresh & just melt in the mouth served with a hint of soy. Yum ! Tables were socially distant apart and wiped clean after use so perfectly safe. Service was impeccable, efficient yet friendly & fun. Some diners ate in "a secret room" which was through the kitchen , the place was amazing, very busy but the food came flying out. It was faultless. Wine was a tad expensive so stuck to glasses of house wine which was perfectly acceptable & palatable. Bar Cañete should be on your list whether to have a few beers and tapas at the bar counter or a sit down meal to enjoy the atmosphere of Barcelona.

Truly a traditional tapas place situated in the centre of Barcelona, good service, good food. Order 2 or 3 dishes each and share everything - remember to order the pan coca con tomate - crispy thin bread with tomato - in addition. ENJOY

It’s been a year since my last visit to Bar Cañete and thankfully it’s still fantastic. It’s very advisable to book as it always seems to be busy. Table this time was through the kitchen in the smaller and more intimate dining room which was quite nice and not as noisy as the main room. Stuck with some of the items which I had last time and some new ones. The lobster croquettas were excellent , the coca bread was tasty , the burrata moist and milky , very fresh and served with cherry tomatoes, perfect to share. The tomato salad with tuna and anchovies was great to savor again as was the seared tuna, everything was just so good and a delight to eat. Bill including 2 finos and 2 glasses of wine and a bottle of water came to just under €77 which is such great value considering the standard of the food. Service was super, very friendly and spot on . Until next time !

Bar Canete was the last day's place of our Barcelona trip but if I came here earlier I would have come more than once. I strongly recommend you to make a reservation, otherwise you should record your name and wait for a couple of hours. We are seated at the bar in front of the kitchen section and really had fun watching all the action. Everything we ordered was delicious, at least above average. First we ordered "Bellota ham croquettes" and it was ok, just croquettes:) "Fried Cordoba-style aubergines in sugar cane honey" was something different and it was good. Squid sandwich was a simple dish but it was highlight of the night. "Malaga-style fried anchovies and finely sliced pa amb tomaquet (bread with tomato)" was also delicious. And at last we ordered "Canete Paella of the day" which was a juicy version of the classic recipe. It was well prepared, rich in ingredients and yummy but I think I like the burnt version better. Long story short they are more expensive than the other popular tapas bars in the city but they deserve it somehow.

The waiting area is very small and crowded. We were waiting to eat at the bar which gives you a view of the chefs prepping food. We ordered marinara clams, lobster croquettes, bombas, tuna with foie gras, valrhona chocolate coulant, cavas. It was all so good. I don't remember if we ordered more than that, but we would totally go back here.

We were introduced to this traditional Spanish Tapas restaurant by the concierge at our hotel, the W, and we were not let down. Inside it is a deep restaurant via very narrow walkway/entrance and has a very classical feel about it. You feel you have moved back in time. We were greeted with bright eyes from staff and sat us at our table and shared the menu. The menu contains lots of traditional Spanish Tapas dishes from which we chose and both the tuna (tartar) and lightly cooked steak were excellent. The fresh oysters are also worth tempting you! Overall a restaurant worth seeking out, are you sure you know the address as you’re unlikely to just tripped over this restaurant as it is hidden in the sidestreet.

As soon as you walk in the door you can feel the energy of this place. Sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen is mesmerizing and entertaining. Good mix of tourists and locals. We were seated next to a man who owns a restaurant in a different neighborhood in Barcelona. He had nothing but good things to say about Bar Canete as well. He was even kind enough to share a Catalan wine recommendation of his own. The food is amazing but it is the atmosphere that makes this place really special.

Hands down, one of the best restaurants in Barcelona! We had a reservation for a table but the ambiance at the bar seemed more fun. We waited 45 minutes longer for two seats at the bar and it was well worth the wait!! We ordered several dishes and the ones that blew us away that we can’t stop thinking about were the cod fritter, razor clams, Malaga fried anchovies on tomato bread, octopus and prawns. Sitting at the bar in the middle of all the action was super and the waitstaff were especially friendly and entertaining. Bar Canete is so great that you will leave thinking about it for months!! No joke

This place has it all. Ambience, good food, and a solid wine menu. It’s serious but kind. The staff is dressed in white jackets, but they don’t take themselves too seriously and treat the patrons like friends. With a very manageable menu, you can find classics from Spanish cuisine, Andalusian-oriented fare like croquetas, ensaladilla, and so on. We’ve been here three times in four months and it never disappoints. The wine menu is very well curated, with classics from Rioja and Ribera as well as fantastic wines from lesser known regions. Not just another tapas bar, it’s one of the best places to hang out in El Raval. Visit Cañete for a good time, let the staff pamper you. Olé!

Atmosphere was warm and cozy. Waiters were very accommodating, provided good suggestion re wine and food. Lobster croquette was creamy, ill give it a 8.0/10. Shrimp weren't anything too special, 7/10. Wild tuna tataki with seaweed 7/10, but my boyfriend says it's a 8.5. Malaga-style anchovies were a manifestation of heaven, explosion of flavors. Fresh, salty, juicy. 9.5/10 Tender spicy octopus w/ tomatoes were flavorful, pulpo consistency was really tender. We'll give it 8/10 A little but expensive but it's worth it. In summary: Good food. Good company. Go here.

We couldn't get a reservation but was told by our hotel concierge that the restaurant saves the counter seats for walk-in's. We arrived at 1pm, when the restaurant opened, and were able to get one of the precious counter seats, overlooking the kitchen. We stuck with mostly seafood items, ordering the lobster croquettes, razer claims, live carril big clams, red prawns, and suckling iberian pig in the first round. All were absolutely delicious, but the carrill big claim was actually somewhat small and not worth spending the 9 euros. And the red prawns were charged by weight per 100 grams, and we had 4 of these which amounted to half our bill. Just something to beware. We saw a Spanish couple next to us ordered the toro carpaccio which is in a gazpacho-like cold broth, so we ordered that too, as well as the baby scallops with bellota ham. Both were very good also. Our waiter was amazingly cheerful, quick on his feet, and made the experience even better. Just know that the bill can add up quickly.

We had an awesome time at Bar Canete. We were seated at the kitchen bar directly in front of the very busy kitchen. The perfect spot to sit and be entertained. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with food and wine recommendations.

If you're in the mood for tapas while in Barcelona you should go here. They offer a wide variety of dishes and drinks with something for everybody to enjoy. I would definitely recommend the cannelloni and Barceloneta's Bomba. Seating is cozy, there are several sections and you can sit by the kitchen if you like watching them cook. Staff is friendly and helpful but their English speaking skills varies. The price of dishes are very reasonable for the quality. 5/5 would eat here again.

The food here is always great, and the service is really friendly. The restaurant has an open kitchen and is impeccably clean and well designed, so there is a great atmosphere without feeling too closed in. The choice of dishes is mouth watering so you will need to visit more than once. I would say that although a long wine list, many of them are high end and high price, so a few less inexpensive wines would be welcome. Although the wine and food we had was amazing, and the staff treated us really nicely. Was a great experience!

El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
