Cayo Guillermo is located one of the most beautiful and white-sandy beaches with more than 1300 palm trees, and swept by very transparent waters. The area was an inspiration for Ernest Hemingway, and fishing the great blue river, always on his Pilar Yacht, he created part of his work. The hotel is perfect for couples and families but also for diving, fishing. We also organize the wedding of your dreams in this paradise.

I stayed at Melia Cayo Guillermo from February 16th-26th with my boyfriend and we had a wonderful time! The beach is beautiful and we went swimming in the ocean nearly every day. We never had trouble finding lounge chairs by the pool or at the beach. We also took the bus to Playa Pilar, which is only a short trip from the hotel and is definitely worth a visit! We had beautiful weather most of the time we were there, with only one rainy day.

Our room was lovely, our air conditioning was super powerful and we had a beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. The tv in our room got plenty of English channels! There is always plenty to eat, lots of selection at the buffet and snacks available 24/7 at the pool bar. We had lunch a few times at the beach restaurant and ate at the International (try the rabbit!) and Mediterranean à la cartes, all of which were delicious.

We only dealt with a couple of little problems during our stay. We had tiny little ants on our bathroom counter for a couple of days, so if you’re getting drinks in reusable cups make sure to rinse them out well! We also found it a bit tough to get an extra bottle of water after drinking all of ours, tried the front desk and guest services but ended up having to wait for the minibar to be restocked the following morning.

Overall, our trip was so relaxing and we really enjoyed ourselves. The resort is a bit older, but you can tell that renovations and improvements are constantly underway. While this is not the place to stay if you’re looking for nightlife or to party, if you want a relaxing and laid-back beach vacation Melia Cayo Guillermo is perfect. This place is small, simple, and there is always lots to do, from morning cappuccinos at the lobby bar to watching the sunset from the pier! The staff truly goes above and beyond to make sure that you have everything you need. The manager, Carlos, went out of his way every day to check in on us, and staff at the pool bar, Terry and Yasnery, provided us with excellent and friendly service all day every day.

Thank you to everyone at Melia Cayo Guillermo for a wonderful vacation! We will see you again soon

I was here last week. I fell in love with the nature, explicitly this hotel and the staff. They did well with the landscape where in you can enjoy the view of the coconut trees going through the beach unlike in some resorts. People are lovely here. They wont ask for a tip but their service would make you wanna give it. (I would suggest that you’d bring them soaps, toothbrush & toothpaste, salt & pepper, or any of their daily necessities for they have a hard time getting these at their local town and expensive.) Giving hugs and kisses are a normal thing for they would treat you like family. Also, they try their best speaking in English and French. Mostly, thumbs up for Carlos, the manager, not only he attends to your need but he also treat the staff well too. Kudos to Ynares, Dyami, Terry, Dannier and the dancers! I must say travelling alone was so much fun because of these peeps!! I’ll certainly be back next year ❤️❤️❤️

This was our first time staying at Melia Cayo Guillermo and our first time in the Cayo area. We had the best Cuba Vacation Ever!! We were there March 9th to the 19th 2020. The moment you arrive you become captivated by the entrance and lobby. Absolutely beautiful. The staff were all amazing, we especially note that the front desk staff were very accomodating, Eduardo was superb and managed to swith us to an upgraded room on our second day there. Every day we saw him he always had a smile and checked with us to ensure all was okay. All of the staff working at the pool snack bar were wonderful. What a fun group of people they were. They were always singing, laughing and provided great service. We also appreciated that we could get a later breakfast at the pool snack bar.
The lobby bar was okay, we found the staff to be less friendly and it lacked the welcome feeling ambiance. We often felt it was inconvenient to serve guests. They do make a fantastic Spanish Coffee though!!
We found the food to be very good, there was always something on the buffet to enjoy. Edel was our most favorite at the buffet, always smiling and ensuring we had everything we wanted.
Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. We slept very well. ( we had a jr suite,) The mini bar was stocked daily and the maid folded our towels into swans every day
The beach, well it is fantastic, crystal clear water, plentiful palapas for shade and lounge chairs. Not once could we not get a lounge in the shade.
The pool is beautiful and again there are plenty of poolside lounge chairs.
This is a smaller resort with just over 300 rooms which is what we like, yet it seems spacious. The gardens are gorgeous and give you a nice place to walk and just take a moment. We are both in our 60's so we truly appreciated the resort size and the layout.
I can't say enough about this resort and we look forward to returning hopefully next year. And a huge shout out to Carlos, the General Manager. This gentleman really cares about the guest experience.

When we arrived at the resort the staff was very welcoming and extremely helpful. Our room was ready about an hour after arrival and upon entering the room was dated(that's Cuba) but immaculately clean. The staff was more than accommodating and after a few days, it almost felt as if we were family. We stayed at this resort for a month and never once did we have any major issues. If something wasn't quite right the issue was fixed immediately. The buffet was incredible with an abundance of main dishes, salad, and desserts. The staff at the buffet were friendly and very helpful along with guest services. There were plenty of excursions to keep you busy and they were reasonably priced. The maintenance staff kept the landscaping immaculate and all were very friendly and accommodating. A couple of the workers even put a clothes line for us so we could hang out our clothes, as there are no laundry facilities available, but one of the employees offered to take our laundry home which she did and when she gave us our laundry back they were neatly folded and super clean. When we offered to pay her, she was very upset and refused. I could go on and on about how we were treated, but that would take forever. We will be returning next year to again meet our Cuban family but this time with our family. Looking forward to our next stay at The Melia Cayo Guillermo.

We recently returned from a week at the Melia Cayo Guillermo (January 11-18, 2020). Although there were some small issues when we arrived we had a great time. We arrived in the morning so our room was not ready right away - not an issue. When we got to our room the door would not open - it was stuck due to swelling of the wood as the air conditioning was not working properly, our safe did not work and, while our toilet flushed, it was insufficient to flush properly and required multiple flushes. We reported these issues to guest services. The air conditioning was fixed right away and the door and safe were fixed the next day. Apparently the toilet was worked on but it continued to malfunction the rest of the week however, was not an issue. We had no other issues with our room the rest of the week, it was comfortable and clean.

One issue we had with the resort was the public washrooms. In the pool bar women's washroom the toilets did not flush at all. All of the women's washrooms were out of paper by the end of the day and were not refilled until much later the next morning. In two of the men's washrooms the urinals were not functioning.

Surprisingly, except for 1 day, there was no bread at lunch or dinner, only breakfast.

We found the resort itself beautiful, very picturesque. We found the food good but the buffet was repetitive with very little variety day to day or even meal to meal. Like everywhere else in Cuba that we have been too, the staff at the resort are wonderful, particularly Adinys at the lobby bar and the international restaurant, Dairon at the lobby bar, Lisbany and Nayalis at the buffet, Barbara and Yeniel at the pool bar. They all made our vacation and little more special.

If you are unfamiliar with Cuban resorts I would not recommend this resort for your first visit. We have been to Cuba 18 times and are very familiar with the issues most resorts have to deal with. Our expectations were not high as the price was very, very reasonable.

As it was very windy the week we were there we were unable to spend time on the beach. We did visit it and it looked beautiful with lots of palapas for shade. The pier is a great touch. We spent the week by the pool which was very nice with a fair amount of shade.

All in all it was a pleasant vacation

I find Melia one of the better resort chains in Cuba. This resort is ideally located on a long beautiful beach. There is a dive shop on site. The staff are truly wonderful, and greeted us as family at each meal. Our room was lovely and kept clean each day. The on-resort activities were well managed. We caught the bus to move around on Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco, which was fun. The food was quite good though selection was limited based on a day visit to another Melia. I would give it five stars except the resort is getting dated. Our door needed maintenance and the room below was missing glass in the patio door. We had no issues with water or power, though part of the resort was closed because the AC wasn’t working. I understand the resort property is owned by the Cuban government and managed by Melia - the owner needs to invest in a refresh in my view. For the price, the resort is hard to beat.

Terrible hotel doesn't even have the basic amenities figured out. No Running water, No A/C, bed bugs, problems with lack of batteries for the in-room safes. Drinking water promised every day to be provided in the room, didn't get a bottle once even after asking multiple times. Way below even standards in Cuba. An entire building block had no running water while we stayed there. Some rooms are infested with bed bugs, we were unfortunate enough to start with one of those rooms. There was some good; beach was gorgeous, food was okay - extremely over salted but decent selection. After 3 terrible days in this supposed 4 star resort we were finally moved 2 resorts down to the Grand Imperial Muthu from MGM. We'll never book a vacation in another Melia run hotel. The Air Transat Rep for the Hotel (Frank) is possibly the worst rep we've ever encountered, argumentative, arrogant and accuses customers of lying when you bring concerns up. Tours organized by Frank are terrible and not worth purchasing. Any problems that arise he dissolves himself of accountability.

This is a small (300 room) resort. It is very nice and clean, but showing it's age a bit. The beach is beautiful white sand, great for long walks. The water is shallow and crystal clear. There is a long pier on the beach. It was not very busy when we visited, so there was never a shortage of beach or pool chairs. We like to relax, and this was a great place for it. The food was good and tasty, although there was not always great variety. We found it was best to arrive at the buffet early. Every staff member we dealt with was friendly and helpful, especially Lesbany (I hope I spelled it correctly) one of the waiters in the buffet. He went out of his way to make us feel at home. Each evening there was very good live music in the lobby, or outside, depending on the weather. This was our second visit to Cuba, first time at this resort, and we hope to return. The people in Cuba always make us feel as though they really appreciate Canadian tourists choosing to visit Cuba.

We had a premium room #1140 which was very nice, close to everything the pool, the beach the restaurants. The staff were awesome Norka was our maid and she does an excellent job of cleaning and ensuring we have everything we need. We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary while we were there. The customer service reps Angel and Mayelin arranged a beautiful supper at one of the a la carte restaurants for this event. We can't thank you enough for making it so special. The hotel gave us a free massage which I thoroughly enjoyed. We enjoyed all the restaurants the food was great and your staff are very efficient and friendly. We thank all of you for making our stay so perfect. The animation team and their friendly games broke up the day and your attention to ensuring all your guests are enjoying themselves was clearly evident. Keep up the good work.
