Family fishing would be amazing but you have to find the fish. I recommend the island 15 minute boat right from shore.

Like the title said it all we had a great time. The only issue I had one driving a big 7-8 passenger Boat through their narrow docks where a lot of boats were parked. Was worried I might hit them. But I slowly mastered driving in and driving out. Yippy for that. The wildlife there is amazing from water snakes, frogs, fish, birds, and more. My favorite was the Canadian loons.

We were at Opeongo Mountain Resort for 3 nights for the long weekend of the Labour Day in September. This is a great place with terrific owners and we are always welcome by the seasonal campers to participate in the activities. There are plenty of activities, with lots of fun. We really enjoyed the Ghost walk on Saturday night and the pig Roast followed by the trick-or-treaters for Halloween on Sunday night. There are limited sites available for travellers, but the ones available are nicely located. We’ve been to this campground for the past four years on this long weekend and we are going back next year. Great job Bob and the family with the Ghost walk and the fireworks. We really had fun again this year.

If you mention the word vacation my family picks Opeongo Mountain Resort. Located on gorgeous Lake Clear. The view is breath taking while enjoyeng a meal at the Moose on the Beach. The food is great and cooked to your liking. Will adapt to kids or allergies. The staff are friendly. The resort has well kept cottages to rent. Or is camping more your game the sites are clean and private. The resort has something for everyone and every age. Friday night is usually movie night and Saturday night is Ghost walk. There is hiking trials to walk. The kids are kept busy with the playground, volleyball, badiminton, horse shoes or the mini arcade equipped with ping ball machine, ping pong table, pool table or phooze ball. Or the can enjoy building sand castles on the beach. But another activity you just can't discribe is nature Frogs, crayfish and of course feeding the chippie the friendly chipminks. My family has enjoyed going to Opeongo mountain Resort. The host Chris and Bob go out of their way to help and make you feel at home. Also available is boat rentals to enjoy the lake with its gorgeous views.

This lake is absolutely beautiful but unfortunately this campground is not what it is used to be. The previous owners were fantastic and had a welcoming family feel. After the ownership change, there were some hiccups but overall they were doing well for a few years but things started to decline a bit a couple of seasons before covid hit. The first year of covid, I get things were overwhelming with rules/restrictions which kept the main washrooms closed, the restaurant, games room & all events were basically cancelled. The garbage disposal area was also closed down & seasonal campers were given a token to bring to the dump site just up the road. This was disappointing for campers that like to hit the road earlier in the mornings since the dump site didn’t open until 1pm on Sundays. I knew of other area campgrounds that still kept their large washrooms open as well as the canteen during this time. The 2nd season with covid had a rocky start (not the campground’s fault) but eventually restrictions mostly dropped yet all the amenities still remain closed & they also stopped selling gas which is odd considering they are located beside the only public boat launch on the lake. I know that gas isn’t a huge money maker but it brings customers to your business to buy other things like food/ice cream from the canteen (ice cream is a huge money maker). To my knowledge, the main washrooms are finally open this season but the garbage area is still closed as well as the canteen yet they have charged seasonal campers full price regardless. I’ve heard there is a food truck on the highway not too far away that campers go to for a bite if needed. The few seasonal campers I’ve known aren’t too happy with the services, or lack thereof, for the past few years (pre-covid as well) and a lot of people had left. They haven’t updated their events calendar on their website since 2019 & they didn’t even advise their seasonal campers when the grounds would even be open this 2022 season. Campers had to guess or happen to notice a facebook post the morning of “opening day”. Hopefully the owners can get this place back to what it used to be before it’s too late.

I will start this review off by saying that the Owners of Opeongo Mountain Resort were extremely pleasant to deal with.

My family and I spent the last week of September at this location for a vacation. I planned to spend the better part of the week fishing with my two oldest girls but unfortunately was only able to get two days of fishing in due to poor weather. This is where I found Opeongo Mountain Resort and the area fell short. There was absolutely nothing for my kids to do when the weather turned bad. We took them to what was marked on the map as a "GAME ROOM" only to find an empty room with a locked door. When the sun finally did come out we figured they would enjoy playing at the playground. Unfortunately the playground is located in the middle of the trailer park and gets NO sunlight so everything is very wet and slippery. There was also very little for my family to do in the surrounding area. The Bonnechere Caves were very cool but other than that there was nothing family friendly. If there was their local advertising magazines didn't mention them.

The cottages were VERY clean however they are extremely out of date and more suited to the many groups of fishermen staying at them then a family. If I went up there with the guys they would be great, for a family not so much. Also the water out of the taps had a very strong sulpher smell which really bothered my wife. Made it interesting to have a shower. The second I walked into the screened in porch I noticed a very strong Urine smell like animals had been living there and it wasn't cleaned properly.

The lake was amazingly beautiful and so clear. I was very impressed. This resort has a lost of potential it just needs a little more work.

We actually got so bored that we ended up going home a day early.

October is our least family friendly month. With children back in school most of our guests are adults traveling without children at that time of the year. If you had visited during the summer there would have been plenty of activities for children. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We invite you to try us again in the summer and you will find that the shady playground is a big plus and your kids will love our Saturday night Ghostwalk. The sulfur smell comes from the minerals in our well water and is only found in the hot water tank. It quickly disappears after it runs for a minute or two. As for our cottages, they are cottages and not hotel rooms. We keep them up to date and constantly hear from our guests about how clean and pleasant they are for a family to stay in.

My family vacationed at Opeongo Mountain Resort in July 2012. We had booked over the phone without ever seeing the place, and were very disapointed when we arrived. The trailer park/campground is extremly overcrowded, bathrooms weren't sanitary, and there are tons of cigarette butts and trash littering the ground. (If you are a family with small children, you will realize what a problem this poses, as we spent the whole time taking them away from our child)
The beach seemed okay, but there were alot of weeds, and we didn't return after my husband got a blood sucker on his foot. We were able to find a beautiful public beach, still on Lake Clear, about 5-10 minutes away (driving) We did go on the Haunted Walk, but found the humour and stories more suitable for teens and adults. And I wasn't impressed with being temporarily abandoned at the end of the "tour", and then scared by an employee jumping out and chasing us as we tried to find our way back.
The resteraunt had good food, but was extremly over-priced.
Our biggest complaint by far was the fact that quiet hours ARE NOT enforced, as we were repeatedly woken up by a group of loud teenagers, well after 2am.
My family will not be returning.

We regret that this family did not seem to have a good time while visiting us. Our grounds are inspected daily for trash and our washrooms cleaned twice daily on weekends and daily each weekday. Our Ghostwalk is not an event for small children and it is not advertised as such. Since the idea is to be just a bit scared, on one should be really too upset by someone jumping out at them. No group is abandoned since it is only a short walk with a group down a well defined dirt road back to the campground. The "ghost" always follows behind the very last person to make sure everyone makes it back safely. Our beach is natural and maintained within best practices for maintaining a healthy lake environment.

This is a trailer park, where you camp right on top of your neighbour with no privacy. We are tent campers. We arrived and paid and sat in the site in our truck. People were walking through our tiny little space with their beers. There were a couple trees on one side, and a trailer set up right next to our tiny site. A couple trees on the other side, and another trailer. I bet we had about 15 feet between our neighbours' trailers and the few trees offered no privacy. The site was on top of a children's playground. If I want to be that close to strangers, I'll go sleep in the Toronto subway.

No way. We didn't even get out of the truck, just turned around and ended up sleeping in a Best Western until we could get to a provincial park the next night. (I can't imagine the noise of trying to sleep in a tent at that place!)

Camping is nature. If you like the whole trailer park, camp on top of your neighbours, have no privacy kind of camping, this might be for you. But if you like to be in nature, surrounded by those neat things called trees, and have some privacy so you don't have to deal with beer-toting strangers and other people's screaming children on your site, don't bother with this one.

The staff at registration were very friendly.

We are sorry that we were not what this guest expected. It is hard for a private campground to offer the experience of a Provincial Park. Our sites are large and shady but in order to provide water, electrical and other services, they need to be in the same general area. Most people seem to think they are quite nice. Yes, there are children around and children do make noise but everything quiets down at night. We are sorry that these folks did not set up their tents and give us a chance. They might of had a good time. We received no complaint from this guest and if we had we would have tried to resolve their concerns as best we could. We want people to enjoy their stay and work hard to see that they do.

Hi my family and I stayed at this resort just outside of Eganville. We were all extremely impressed with the facilities and the location. I would strongly recommend it for anyone looking for a camping/cottaging resort. the cottages are clean and in great shape, the view of Clear Lake was beautiful. the lake itself was clean/clear and good for swimming and fishing.

Note my family and I (about 40 people) have a really hard time finding a resort we all like so I thought I would put the word out on this place.

The place use to be a great place to go We live in the States and every year for 7 we drove to Opeongo for a week of great cabining and okay fishing , but it was the owners that made it worth while, Bob and Chris were great , they would do everything possible for you to enjoy your stay, but this year when we went , the place was under new ownership, and you can tell the new owners are still tring to get a handle on it!! One thing they have to understand YOU DON'T CHANGE THINGS IF THEY ARE NOT BROKEN!!!!! , and when you make a promise KEEP IT!!!!!

As the new owners of Opeongo Mountain Resort our goal is to meet or exceed our guest’s expectations. It appears that this guest feels we did not. We did try our best even to the point of lending him our personal vehicle to assist him in taking care of a bit of private business. Unfortunately, a shirt we promised to order for him was not shipped to us by the manufacturer. (We are still trying to obtain it for him) We plan to build on the solid reputation this business has for customer service and continue the tradition of Opeongo being one of the best places to spend your vacation time.

A friend and i drove up there from Halifax, Nova Scotia and camped on a small island in Lake Clear. We were able to park the truck on site at the main camp area, launch our boat easily and head straight to the island (after registration of course). The registration was a breeze, Bob and his wife were very welcoming.

The fishing in the lake was fantastic, lots of Walleye. Even caught some Pike, Large Mouth Bass, Perch, Small Mouth Bass.

The big thing i want to mention is Bob - we had some motor issues and managed to troll our way back to the main office site, where Bob was quick to give us a helping hand to get the motor working again and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our trip. He could have easily said call a mechanic..but he chose to help first.

The restaurant is great too, lots of friendly staff. highly recommend this place.

Mike
