Porto da Lua is the only Hotel right on the beach and is a model of splendid tropical architecture. We have 26 very comfortable rooms, 22 of them with a spectacular view over the ocean and the reef. The constant, lovely and fresh breeze from the ocean makes the tropics here at Hotel Porto da Lua even more relaxing. There are also some special suites - one of them with almost 100 m2.

Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The Porto da Lua hotel is a bit tricky to find amidst the maze of private streets in the compound! However, once you arrive, you'll appreciate the tranquility of the place, the convenience of the rooms. The ground-floor terraces are perfect for heading to the beach. It's worth noting that the beach itself is rocky, which can make accessing the sea a bit challenging but the is it´s beautiful, clean and there are fishes swimming around The staff is not pushy and doesn't constantly bother the guests, which is a plus. The village can be accessed on foot and via the beach, which is a significant advantage. When it comes to breakfast, Brazilian dishes are delicious, and the waitstaff is friendly. Lastly, a downside is the absence of bottled water in the rooms. All in all, these aspects contribute to the perception that the value for money is not entirely aligned as is an expensive hotel.

Cozy place, extremely careful people with guests, tasty menu and breathtaking scenery, in addition to the privacy and security of being in a closed condominium. We won’t think about another place when we want to return to Praia do Forte. Thanks!

Loved this place. Very friendly, great breakfast and tea and delicious caipirinhas. It is basic but that's what we liked. The views are beautiful and the sea is warm but it is rocky and there's quite a bit of seaweed. However just wander along and you can bathe in comfort. The restaurant was nice but very quiet so we didn't eat there in the evenings. It is a short and very safe walk to town.

After two amazing Summer stays at the Hotel-Posada Porto da Lua, my husband and I call this beautiful Hotel - our home away from home.
From the personable staff to the food and the overall hotel experience, we always feel at home. Really! The staff is fantastic, the management is so dedicate to customer service, that I just had to give it back to them by writing this review.
Keep in mind, that this hotel has rooms that are tastefully done, clean, spacious, but most of all, you find this review helpful to learn that: almost all rooms in this hotel have a beautiful ocean view! My suggestion is: plan ahead and book early - so you can pick a room facing the ocean. This experience will be so worth it!
Lastly, if you want a little more fun - the village is near by with a variety of shopping options, bars, restaurants and coffee houses.
Plan to learn a little Portuguese and enjoy your trip!

The Hotel is amazing. It is locate just at the beach. The rooms are very nice, and you feel very welcome by the staff. The kitchen was probably the best in Praia do Forte. The Hotel is five minutes away by foot from the 'city centre' and easy and safe to reach by foot.

Small, cute hotel, bit tired but clean and staff very friendly and helpfull. Sometimes the language is a problem but something that can be overcome. Fabulous beach/sea views from balconies with hammock. Breakfast had good selection of cakes and pastries if that's what you like with the usual fruit and juices. There is a wee hot plate to heat through the pancake things they made, very nice. You have to ask for eggs or sausages, they're not put out. Had dinner there twice, fillet steak delicious and everything else good, big portions. Had squid/octopus salad at lunch time, it was like a caviche and was brilliant but my goodness it was huge, cld do for 2 people. I need to mention Val the massage lady who works from there on the side of the beach, fantastic! Best massage I've had and there is a choice but she gave me a bit of everything from some reflexology to lymphatic drainage and cellulite massage. Brilliant and only 100 Real which is about £20??? She is a lovely caring person and wld recommend, booking through the hotel. The Tamar turtle project is more or less just next door beach wise but 2 mins to walk from the hotel around the streets. This is a must to go see. Very interesting. Some night life and supermarkets at Praia do Forte and nice to take a walk through for souvenirs. All in all a great wee hotel to finish a hectic trip and would thoroughly recommend it.

We had a reservation for 6 nights in a "Superior" room. We booked in and went upto the room allocated - what a disgrace. It was shabby and unclean, the bedding was unfit and it lacked any ambience. We looked around the rest of the hotel whilst waiting to be shown an alternative room and were equally disappointed at the cleanliness and the general standards. The external furniture was tatty plastic, the dining room was a mess and there was building work immediately outside the hotel reception. Under no circumstances were we prepared to stay although the hotel's location is good. The reception staff were helpful and did not seem overly surprised by our decision and we would strongly advise against staying here.

You have great view with sound and feel of the ocean. It’s quite, peaceful place, but only a few minutes walk to the village with shops and restaurants and night life. I enjoyed the giant sea turtle aquarium that is right on the ocean about 300M from the hotel, it would be must see for kids. Eating in the hotel can also be habit forming with interesting menu and carefully prepared dishes. It not a place to spend time watching TV. Take a good book and expect to find a very friendly staff. Make sure that you meet the owner who is very nice Swiss man who has had several other successful careers.

We spent 3 nights in this pusada, and had a great time. You literally sit on the beach, which is great. The water is a little complicated to access due to the rocks, so don't forget some shoes for the water. The staff is very nice and helpful, good cuisine too! And you can walk to the city center if you want some action.

We felt complete bliss staying here this past weekend. We would recommend this place to anyone. The staff is well trained and very friendly. The rooms are gorgeous too. We really enjoyed the included breakfast and afternoon tea. The pousada is walking distance from everywhere you would want to go in Praia to Forte We really enjoyed spending the mornings at the beach, and the evenings walking around the cute and friendly town.
