Hotel's Favourite
The Waldorf Astoria Roosevelt Hotel is the kind of grande dame, elegant property that is becoming rare in a world of cookie cutter design. I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.

Check in: We were greeted by Mark the doorman. He was quite welcoming and gave us a positive feeling about the Waldorf before we had even entered the lobby. The lobby is a beautiful and ornate space with fresh flowers, mirrors and many crystal chandeliers. It exudes old school sophistication and elegance.
Adrian, at the front desk, checked us in. He was very thorough in his explanation of what was included with our room. We had booked with American Express Platinum, so there were a lot of perks and credits. Best of all, our room was upgraded to a suite. Frederick, the bellman, brought our bags up, showed us around the suite and recommended some night spots we might like to visit.
Room: The suite had a living area with a sofa, coffee table, television, bar sink and desk complete with writing paper. We could see the Mississippi River from our window. There was a half bath off the living area. The bedroom included a king bed, bureau, nightstand and mini bar. The full bathroom was large and well-appointed with Aesop toiletries. Opposite the bath, a good-sized closet contained an iron and ironing board, umbrella and two bathrobes. The room’s color scheme featured browns and beiges. Furniture appeared antique-y as it was solid wood and not the pressboard one sees so frequently now. Overall, the suite felt very classic and upscale. The room must have been well sound proofed as we could not hear our neighbors nor did we hear much street noise.
Housekeeping was excellent. The room was always immaculate. Turn down service included slippers placed by the side of the bed and a tray of chocolate truffles.
Dining: We had breakfast in the Fountain Lounge every morning and would definitely recommend it. The beignets were fluffy and delicious. Avocado toast with tomato and harissa was a tasty, healthy option. For $31, you can have an extensive breakfast buffet that includes omelettes to order and a grits bar.
Spa: All our sightseeing made my back ache, so I scheduled a CBD massage. The spa prices are not low, but the quality of service justifies this. Rhonda, my massage therapist, really listened to my concerns about my back and did an excellent job of relaxing my muscles and relieving pain. Next time, I visit I plan on another massage with Rhonda. She is a pleasure.
Location: At a five minute walk to Bourbon Street, the Roosevelt is convenient to the French Quarter without being near the noise. The hotel is also close to multiple streetcar lines and getting around by Jazzy Pass is very easy.

Overall, our stay at the Roosevelt Hotel was everything we hoped for. I would definitely return.

We decided to stay at the recently renovated Roosevelt hotel, now a Waldorf Astoria property, for our short week in New Orleans. I reserved a King suite because we wanted some extra room and we were assigned to the top 12th floor down the hall from the Theodore Roosevelt suite. The room was nicely decorated and clean with a semi-separate sitting room in which, weirdly, the sofa was not located on the wall across from the television but on the adjacent one, making it difficult to use it for viewing. The bathroom was nice but very small, which I have come to expect in older hotels. Good for one but not for two at the same time. The biggest problem we encountered was the lack of noise abatement between rooms. The adjacent room had a connecting door to allow for joining the two together, and it was occupied during our stay by a woman who was very loud, and whose equally volume challenged friends carried on conversations easily heard in our room until 2:00 am or so. To be fair, we could have complained and asked to be moved but did not, but it seems a fundamental design flaw for noise from the next room to be so intrusive. The staff were all very courteous and helpful, the lobby is grand, and the Sazerac bar is a classic though always crowded. I recommend it with the above reservations.

Any christmas visit to NOLA at christmas includes a visit to see the Christmas lights in the Roosevelt hotel lobby. It was researching this that I heard about the Christmas day jazz brunch. Bookings were accepted around September so I reserved overphone with credit card to secure. No payment taken until the day.
It's an expensive splurge but on Christmas day alot of restaurants close and you need plans.
The brunch could be called 'bottomless brunch' because all drinks we had were included. This included procescco, wine, mimosa etc.
The jazz band played throughout and played requests. Your table was yours from 10:40 until 4pm.
The buffet was fantastic and beautifully presented. Breakfast items. Carvery. All meats, fish etc.
Something for everyone and of great quality. We had a fantastic time and dancing was a bonus.
Santa visits every table and sits for photos.
Recommended.

If you are expecting a higher-end, the Waldorf Astoria experience you’re in for a unpleasant surprise! For the first time in all of our travels, we were told that there was a charge/fee for late checkout - $50 per room, per hour. We had 2 rooms - 1 Queen single and 1 King luxury suite and stayed for 5 nights. If the hotel had a full capacity of guests checking in that day, additional fees would not appease the guests waiting for their rooms. We were absolutely appalled that this was brought up as “standard hotel policy” during our request for an hour later checkout, especially as a Hilton honors guest staying in a “luxury suite” for 5 nights. In the end, they said they waived the fee and actually expected us to be appreciative! We had to call multiple times for simple housekeeping requests, had to wait 90 minutes for a breakfast order that arrived cold and the server literally pushed the cart in the room and left, and the front desk staff was rude and dismissive anytime we tried to speak to them. There was very little security or bell staff and people could easily walk in and around the hotel lobby at any time to take pictures of holiday decorations or just hang out. The elaborate lobby holiday decorations were disassembled during Saturday check out time and Christmas branches were flying everywhere and hitting people, there was broken glass and ornaments all over the floor. This hotel property needs a complete overhaul, we will not be returning or recommending to anyone!!

These are trying times, but the Roosevelt's management could not care less about their guests. I stayed two nights in one week. I had to leave the first room because the noise was so loud in the ceiling that I could not sleep. I move down the hall, and let it pass.

Two days later, my wife and I stayed there again. This time the toilet did not flush. We arrived in our room after 10:00 p.m., so the engineer came and declared that the problem was fixed. The next morning the toilet again would not flush. I complained about the problems with two uninhabitable rooms in one week, and all they would do is give me a 50% discount on my room with a non-flushing toilet. I asked them directly if they would pay anything for a room with a non-flushing toilet. They said there was no reason to continue the conversation.

My family of four stayed at the Roosevelt for a few days over the Christmas holiday.

The hotel is well situated for a trip to New Orleans, just outside the craziness of the French Quarter but any easy walk to most of the major sights.

As others have mentioned, the holiday decorations in the lobby are absolutely stunning, but the overcrowding can be an inconvenience for hotel guests. It was unpleasant to fight through crowds just to get to my room or the fitness center. On the plus side, I appreciated being somewhere festive for Christmas.

The rooms were nicely decorated with comfortable beds and plenty of bedside outlets for charging the myriad devices we travel with these days. One small complaint is that the bathroom didn't have a fan or any ventilation to clear out steam and mirror fog after a shower. That seemed odd for a hotel of this caliber.

I did have to contact the front desk one evening because housekeeping hadn't come to our room. They were friendly, responsive, and took care of it right away.

Overall it was a good stay, but slightly below what we would expect from the Waldorf Astoria brand. I would consider staying here again but not during the holiday season.

I just expected more from this hotel. Overall it was just okay.
1. Only one person working the front desk and the poor lady was always so busy.
2. Because of covid, they don't clean your rooms daily which would be okay for a 1 night stay but for a 4 night stay it would have been nice to be cleaned. We asked for both rooms to be cleaned and that didn't happen once.
3. Most uncomfortable beds ever. I requested a mattress cover 3 times and when they finally delivered it to the room they just handed it to me and walked off. I kinda thought they would put it on the bed.
4. Best part about the shower is that it's an actual shower and not a tub/shower combo. However the water pressure left a lot to be desired. It was hard to even rinse the shampoo out of your hair with the trickle.
5. We had 2 rooms and they put a $1600 hold on our debit card which was a huge shock. It was released the day we checked out but that was a shock.

I will say the hotel was nice and clean. We wanted to book the best hotel that New Orleans had to offer and we thought this was it until we stayed there. Next time we will stay somewhere else.

Dear Z5571QXstephanier; Thank you for choosing the Roosevelt. We are deeply sorry that we did not meet your expectations during this visit. You are correct that our service is altered during covid and our access to occupied rooms is changed but that does not in any way justify your feeling a lack in hospitality. We will use this to redirect our team's efforts and yes we are actively looking for more staff for the front desk. Hopefully you will come back soon and experience the Roosevelt at its best. Sincerely, The entire team at the Roosevelt.

We visited the Roosevelt to enjoy a “social distancing in style” vacation. We loved it there. The lobby and the rooms were so elegant.

The room: we got a luxury king suite which was perfect. My husband and I had our own space and our daughters had fun falling asleep to movies on the pull out bed. Everything was very clean and comfortable. They had even sanitized the remotes. The robes were nice, but kind of old and not so soft anymore. Besides that small thing we were incredibly happy with everything else.

The Sazerac bar: very classy, strong drinks, great vibe.

The spa: we each got very restorative sports massages that made us feel like ourselves again after overworking ourselves doing it all in quarantine! What a treat! Mine was honestly the best massage of my life.

The pool: very nice, my kid loved the giant chess set! The view around the pool (and from our room) was incredible.

The location: excellent for families. I would not want to stay in the French Quarter itself, it’s too loud at night. Here it was nice and quiet, and a 5 min walk to the French Quarter.

As of our stay, these things were closed because of the pandemic: the Fountain Lounge and room service. You can Grubhub some meals, but you have to go down to the lobby and get them yourself. I honestly question that move...if the hotel staff could do contactless room service delivery, or even run up the Grubhub deliveries, it would reduce exposure overall and way improve the quality of our stay. Just my 2c. I’m still rating 5 stars because in spite of a global pandemic we had an excellent stay here!

The best part: we asked the concierge to find us some birthday cakes, and they said the head chef would go ahead and make them and deliver them to the room! My husband and my daughter’s birthdays are a day apart so this was a very welcome bonus to come back from a long day of adventuring to a surprise cake. :)

My wife and I are sitting in the lobby getting ready to leave after two nights over a weekend in December. The Christmas decorations are stunning, but both of us are wondering...who exactly is the hotel trying to please? Because it’s certainly not the guests paying hundreds of dollars a night to stay here. While the guest hallways and elevators are well marked with reminders to wear masks, social distance, and sanitize, the lobby is another matter entirely. It is Grand Central Station for the holidays, where everyone is welcome the pandemic does not exist. At any given time, all day and all night, families and other groups of all ages crowd the space to take photos and loiter without a care in the world or a mask in sight. And management does precisely nothing to combat it. In fact, they seem to actively encourage it, with a counter set up to dispense sazeracs in cheap plastic cups to all comers and standing happy hours...all maskless, of course...lingering and chatting in the grand but still confined space. All this while the bell staff have to struggle through the space with guests luggage, and do their best to politely decline endless requests to snap family photos while they try to do their actual jobs. Yes, the room we had was lovely and an oasis of calm. But we would have appreciated having a chance to enjoy a drink in the lobby, which is already well designed for social distancing, without the chaos. Maybe that makes us spoil sports and we should have embraced the impromptu party that is New Orleans. Perhaps, but the point of a five star hotel is to take care of its guests first, and at least during this stay we never felt like guests. It really just felt like we were in the way.

Dear TravisS235; Thank you for choosing the Roosevelt hotel for you December stay. This year the hotel has been extremely focused on masks and keeping the crowds flowing through the lobby. We are very sorry this was not your experience. At this time based on your feedback we are removing the portable bar to create even better flow. We hope you will come back and visit us again. We assure you that in all other months our lobby is a breath taking respite from the titillating experience that is New Orleans.

Hey, yes it is a roof deck pool plenty of room. There was a bar and a bathroom up there, not sure if the bar is only open for parties. We were there in March, so I'm not sure when it gets busy up there, but when we went up there there were only 10 people at most. It was a nice little oasis in the city. They have towels up there too.
