We stayed at this property about 10 years ago and decided to stay there again on our most recent trip to Bar Harbor. Everything about the Inn, the service, the condition of the property, the nightly piano entertainment in the Great Room, was outstanding.

Although the Inn is a rather long walk to the village Bar Harbor, bus service is offered. This is an important perk as Bar Harbor is plagued by a scarcity of parking.

You won't go wrong by staying at the Bluenose Inn

The reviews I read of this place led me to expect an OK place. Not so! We arrived around 5:00 and went up to our 4th floor room to see a stunning panoramic view of the harbor and the islands in it, in an impeccably clean, well-appointed room . With a balcony meant for morning coffee before beautiful scenery, or relaxing after a day's hike, the room never failed to delight and uplift us. We loved it, 5 stars for sure. It added a lot to our stay in Bar Harbor. I also enjoyed the hot tub and pool for stretching sore muscles, and its good location that made every trip out easy to reach.

We chose the Bluenose for location, price point, & the on site facilities. Our expectations were exceeded with the lovely view and spacious room right when we walked in. The fireplace, cute furniture, and balcony were much nicer in person than in photos from what we remembered. Pleasant staff. Cute restaurant with nice view is a walk up the hill or you can drive. They're only serving breakfast during this time but was good for a to-go meal. We didn't use the indoor pool or hot tub since we forgot suits but that was a perk. Everything was very clean except for one dirty wash cloth that was hanging on the shower rod when we arrived. Easy to miss as it blended with the curtain but still gross since it had hair on it. The tv had decent channels but of course the one channel we wanted one night had no sound... No biggie as we were there for the location. Hand sanitizer in all the main areas and the pianist available on various nights was such a nice touch. Loved sitting in the bathrobes by the fire or out on the balcony. Beds were comfy with plenty of pillows and the AC/heat worked well. Great location for access to Acadia and Bar Harbor restaurants. We had a wonderful visit and will definitely be back.

My husband and I made reservations in January, 2021 for June, 2021 (4 nights) for a very special occasion. Upon arriving, we waited in line at the desk to check in. Only one person checking guests in, and the wait was about 35 minutes. Before our turn, two other clerks came out to help, and we all had to listen to the three of them standing in a circle, complaining. Guests asked then to stop, and they continued anyway. Finally our turn! The first thing we were told was that there is no housekeeping service which took us by surprise. As she said, “If you want your bed made, you need to make it yourself”. A door tag was given to us to leave on the doorknob for anything we needed - soap, shampoo, clean towels etc. The hotel would not even put anything ordered inside the door. One time, we had no towels, and the clerk told us to come down and get them. Now the room: We paid huge amount of money In advance. The furniture was scratched, scraped and marred… terrible condition. Even the soap dishes had big chips. The room smelled musty, and could have used a better cleaning, especially the tub. The patio seemed like it was never cleaned. There were cob webs along the ceiling and dead insects everywhere. There was a wasp’s nest somewhere as they were flying into a crevice. We feel as though we were robbed. We are well into our senior years, and we have never had a terrible experience like this. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I’d give this 5 stars if wasn’t for a pretty grumpy ‘welcome’ when we arrived. Sure, we got there pretty early and weren’t expecting room to be ready but there are better ways to treat incoming guests than ‘you’re hours early’ in a not very friendly way, without asking for the name or saying ‘hey, you can wait at the pool in the meantime’ or something without making us feel like we made a mistake booking this place (which is NOT cheap).
Having said that - pretty decent hotel otherwise, very clean, nice views, nice amenities, can’t complain.

In a sea of positive reviews about a nice hotel in a nice location, it feels odd to be the dissenter, but for the price you pay and the multitude of excellent choices nearby, I'm afraid I can't recommend this Inn.

The facilities are nice, the rooms are nice, the view is nice, all worthy of 4 stars. What's not 4 star is the service. They managed to turn a delighted customer into one frustrated enough to write this review. Judge for yourself from my story, and see room recommendations at the bottom. I hope you find this helpful.

I booked 3 rooms for my family. All have the same layout, are on the same floor, and are the same price. However, 2 of the rooms have a standout feature: a high end massage chair. One of the 3 rooms did not have a massage chair.

I called the front desk to see what my options are. The curt reply: "Our computer doesn't show which rooms have massage chairs." Really? A hotel that doesn't know which of it's own rooms don't have a key differentiating feature? I asked to check another room, again a curt, "No. We are fully booked." Really? Strange that I saw cars driving in behind me that had not checked in yet. No customer focus at all - no apology, no offer of a small token "peace offering" like a breakfast voucher, nothing but a gent who sounded exasperated and wanted me off the phone. Not the typical experience even at 3 star hotels.

If you still want to patronize this place vs other better options nearby, avoid room 339 - rooms 338 & 330 do have the chairs. Again, I hope you find this helpful. Enjoy beautiful Acadia!

We returned once again this year to the Bluenose where we appreciate the warm, helpful staff; comfortable, immaculate, and spacious room accommodations with breathtaking views from the balcony; and relaxing indoor/outdoor pools and hot tub. The Bluenose is located away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor, but minutes away from Acadia and countless Bar Harbor’s restaurants. While COVID protocols are still adhered to, optional, limited housekeeping services have returned (bed make up, trash removal, and towel and amenities replenishment). Bill Trowell continues to entertain evenings with his mastery of piano show tunes and classic arrangements. We are looking forward to our return in the fall!

Great location, beautiful view, and totally sufficient if you’re here to explore Acadia and eat delicious seafood in Bar Harbor. Decor is outdated, but overall most things were clean (one of the pillowcases were dirty, ew) and has pretty much everything you need (fridge, microwave, blow dryer, etc). I brought my own toiletries as well as flip flops for indoor use.
We stayed in the 3rd floor of Stenna Nordica since it was reasonably priced- great views and sitting area outdoors.

We missed staying at the Bluenose last season due to COVID and were excited to return this summer! We very much appreciated the continued adherence to strict COVID protocols in our room and across the property … everything was exceptionally clean!

We feel that Bluenose is our home away from home and look forward each visit to the Bluenose’s welcoming and helpful staff; spacious, comfortable, and traditionally-furnished rooms; a fantastic view of the town / harbor as well as breathtaking sunrises from balcony; and refreshing indoor/outdoor pools and relaxing hot tub. The Bluenose has a great location just outside of the town of Bar Harbor and within minutes of Acadia. The expanded gift shop was nicely laid out and stocked with interesting items that reduced the need to shop in town.

I booked this hotel for the close proximity to the waterfront and Acadia as well as the restaurant on the premises. When we checked in we were told that the restaurant was closed and that we would not have any room service for the 4 nights. This should have been communicated prior to our arrival as I would have made other arrangements for accommodations. I always travel with Lysol spray and wipes but this room was beyond a simple wipe down and required a trip to the grocery store for more powerful cleaning supplies. In addition, the wind and rain brought down tremendous amounts of pine needles that just covered the carpet. We ran out of toilet tissue, tissues, and had to go to the front desk to get garbage bags and dispose of our garbage. I understand this is an older establishment and somewhat outdated. But the dust, mildew and overall cleanliness of the room was beyond unacceptable. We visited at the tail end of the tourist season and the front desk staff clearly were ready for a break. Not an ounce of hospitality from anyone. Pictures are not uploading. I will attempt to add them
