Nestled in a prime location, West Street Hotel delights guests with its proximity to downtown attractions and scenic Acadia, offering a walkable base to explore the surroundings. While the hotel charms with its cozy ambiance and a warm lobby fireplace, some guests consider the rooms a tad basic. Despite concerns about value, the cleanliness receives consistent praise, as does the attentive staff. Amenities like a complimentary pantry and pools add to the comfort, although the hotel's straightforward offering leaves a few guests expecting more.

I did a lot of research beforehand, needed a big room but really wanted a private balcony. Other TA reviews are correct you can hand your neighbor coffee from one balcony to another, 411 solved most of this as the room is one of a kind. Top floor 856 sf corner room on west end of building with 2 balconies (see pics). Facing west you have long enclosed balcony 4 rocking chairs 2 tables with complete privacy plus a perfect view of sunset, on the north side you have wrought iron balcony that faces the street. We were lucky as our neighbors next to the iron balcony the first 2 nights were really nice. My wife said you can hear an echo in the bathroom as its oversized with 2 sinks a big shower and a huge clawfoot tub. 3 night Sunday early September arrival, on check in asked and received housekeeping every day. Room perfect nothing out of place, housekeeping was great they left us extra soap/shampoo/towels every day. Also no need to take elevator from 411 a short staircase leads right outside.

The hotel reads TA reviews, I read earlier that the coffee stations were messy, that has been taken care of as the staff day/night clean and refill the stations. The prepacked ice was a great help we hiked in Acadia every day and were able to keep our boxed lunches (Downeast Deli) cold. The 24 hour a day free self-laundry was a lifesaver. One afternoon I went swimming at the Bar Harbor Club then the Harborside Hotel and finally the West Street rooftop pool just to say I swam in 3 pools in one day.

We are Marriott platinum and Hilton gold and almost always stay at either brand but were really impressed at the Opal West Street Hotel. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay in room 411.

We spent 2 great nights at the hotel over Labor Day weekend. This was our first trip to Bar Harbor, and we were very impressed with the town and the hotel. The harbor itself is gorgeous (the hotel is right across the street from it), and we're very happy that we paid up for a harbor view room.

The room was nicely appointed, and we appreciated the pantry on each floor that supplied water, coffee, and tea. We also spent a few hours at the Bar Harbor Club, which has an excellent pool area overhanging the water's edge. Dinner at Paddy's was decent, with a pretty good beer and cocktail list as well.

Overall, we really can't wait to return to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP, and the West Street Hotel is certainly a place we'd return to.

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way - the staff was EXCELLENT, it was incredibly clean (disinfectant wipes & sanitizer stations everywhere!), the location was the best, and the facilities were wonderful.

Honestly, based on the price and reviews I was expecting a lot from my stay and I was not disappointed in any way. The staff was always ready to help with any request, there was a fully stocked kitchenette on every floor with water, snacks, coffee, etc., there was a washer and dryer with complimentary detergent, and just every detail that could make our stay nice was included. In addition, the location was wonderful and we loved the facilities at the Harborside Hotel - pool & Jacuzzi. The roof top pool was also very nice, but since we traveled with kids we barely went up there. Our family always stays at nice hotels and I can honestly say this one was by far my favorite.

While the hotel is in what appears to be an exceptional location at the corner of West and Main Streets, it turned out that the location is also a serious downside of the hotel. Here are the pros and cons
Pro: Excellent location. Con: constant odors of food cooking from morning until late evening
Pro: Comfortable room. Con: food odors, opening the bathroom door in the morning, bacon odor, go out into the hallway, bacon odor (later in the day, fried food odor)
Pro: Amazing rooftop pool, adults only, with magnificent views of the entire surrounding area and the harbor. Con; Bacon, fried food, cooking fish and lobsters. Uncomfortable sitting out for very long.
Pro: Beautiful surround deck. Con: (you got it) cooking odors.
And… a big con: poor housekeeping. Room was in disgusting shape when we arrived. Night cleaner came up and even took pictures of the nail clippers left in a drawer; tissue left on a dresser; and dirty, dusty and uncleaned floors, especially behind drapes and under sofa. While the manager did, upon her arriving the next day, ensure that the room would be thoroughly cleaned, it was not really thoroughly cleaned the way you would want it with Covid fears. A small monetary concession was made to our bill, but the manager never followed up or even advised us of the concession.
We so wanted to love this place, a two bedroom suite with a wrap around terrace overlooking the harbor, we actually requested a check out a day early. We just couldn’t abide by the smell, the housekeeping, especially at the very considerable cost per night of the rooms. If you are sensitive to smells, find another place.

This place is amazing. We had a great view of Bar Harbor, and our room was two adjoining rooms that offered more than enough space for our family. The rooms were spotless and the hotel has a laundry room where you can do your own laundry. Very convenient. The rooftop pool is magnificent. Wonderful view of the area, can’t be beat. The pool itself was amazing. Beautiful and clean. Pantries are on every floor with limitless water and snacks. This was incredibly handy. This was the best hotel on our trip throughout New England.

We stayed in this hotel in Bar Harbor the first week of June. It was the first week of the season and early in the reopening phases in Maine. This hotel should be the example of how it is done! Housekeeping service was available, the coffee bar was stocked and it was a seamless and great surprise. The on property dog Phin was great and after a small billing problem the manager Nicole fixed it ASAP. The room service from PAddy's was excellent. This hotel navigated the post Covid environment with grace and truly outstanding customer service. No excuses here about reduced services at double the price that we faced in Hiltons in Rhode Island, Marriotts in Mass, Loews in Orlando and Hyatt Centric in New Orleans. Not name brand but one of a kind1

We had booked with this hotel many times before so was looking forward to the long Holiday weekend at a luxury resort. When we arrived we were informed that our reservation could not be honored because they were overbooked, but that they had an apartment or condo "VRBO "at the other end of town. Bear in mind WE would have had to cancel days before if we could not honor our commitment or pay a cancellation penalty but they can apparently do anything they want the DAY OF the reservation. Since we had traveled hours to get to Bar Harbor we had no choice but to take the other option.

The VRBO was on the other end of town. We had looked forward to enjoying the amenities of the hotel. We would have enjoyed the quick walk from our room to Paddy's for a drink at night or Stewman's for dinner for instance. In the mornings we have enjoyed just a stroll over to La Bella Vita for breakfast. These and many things were on our list of to do but sadly were not in the cards.

Instead we were in a condo where we had to go to the grocery store to get the bare essentials like coffee. (Thankfully I checked the first night because this would have been a rude awakening in the morning) So after a long trip to Bar Harbor we had chores to do like grocery shopping! The second floor housed a large family with young children that ran back and fourth constantly, and adults that for some reason had to move luggage up and down the back stairs at 3: a.m. every night we were there, conveniently located over our back bedroom. Literally any time we went to our car there was anywhere between 1 to 3 men walking around the small parking lot on their cell phones. To top this all off we had to take out our own trash to fully loaded trash barrels or to the backyard VRBO for a large swarm of flies. (I hope they got a better deal)

If like me you reserve a room in a luxury hotel because of the hotel amenities then you may not get what you expected. If you want to take the chance that you will get what you pay for, book a room with this hotel. It is a great place to stay if you can get in. But, if you roll the dice you could end up in some condo on the island without the luxury hotel amenities at a luxury hotel price.

West Street Hotel is, obviously, on West Street. That makes it harborfront. Most rooms have a balcony that overlooks West Street, the harbor, and a few commercial establishments that are on the harbor. Great views. The rooms are modern, upscale and well maintained. The lobby is small but also very nice. Parking is easy and free in a gated lot immediately behind the hotel. Hotel is a sister to the Harborside Hotel diagonally across street and West Street Hotel guests have privileges at Harborside facilities, including fitness center and spa. Restaurant at Harborside has water views and is better than Paddy's Irish Restaurant adjacent West Street Hotel. Rooftop pool and viewing deck and pool table. Pantries on each floor have bottled water and hot beverages of all sorts, but advertised fruit and snacks were disappointing as they were only made available around dinner time, sparsely provided, and the fruit was not high quality. Staff is competent and very pleasant, including Fin the manager's retriever. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel would get a full 5 stars if not for 2 things: 1. The resort fee and 2. The room service. The posted prices are a bit deceptive in that the hotel adds a $30 (plus tax) daily "resort fee" which, it says, co was things that are simply included at most luxury (amd most discount) hotels like pool access, bottled water, parking and coffee. The coffee, by the way is, a keuruk shared by all guests on your floor. There is no coffee in the rooms. Fine if you don't mind waiting in line with other guests in your pj's and balancing coffee cups on your way back to your room. I think most guests of this otherwise expensive hotel would not turn away if tne resort fee were eliminated in favor of listing the true daily accommodation rate. We had room service daily which was very nice but, without exception, some item of.food was omitted. We adjusted by just adding extra items to our order each day so that we would all have enough food despite the errors. Otherwise, this hotel is wonderful with a friendly and helpful staff and an absolutely beautiful location on the ocean. We had an ocean front corner room and the views were consistently amazing. The weather was perfect (low 70s) the whole week and we made great use of the available outdoor activities hiking Cadillac Mountain, fresh water kayaking in Mt. Desert (where we saw a family of loons and 2 bald eagles) and enjoying the oceanside pool at the sister hotel across the street. We highly recommend this hotel and will return if we ever return to Bar Harbor.

My sister and I had the pleasure of staying at the West Street Hotel for 3 nights the last week of September 2021. The hotel is new, (built in 2012), and is very close to the harbor and great restaurants and shops. When we checked in, the very gracious staff member at the front desk told me that we were being given a free upgrade. We ended up in a suite with two large, beautiful rooms with wonderful king beds, comfortable sitting areas and large sparkling clean, modern bathrooms. We were thrilled about this! I loved the nautical decorating themes in our rooms and in the lobby. The lobby area had some very cozy and comfortable seating areas to offer another place to sit and visit.

Another cool feature was the adults-only, rooftop pool and fantastic view of the harbor and the town of Bar Harbor. The view was stunning at night!
We had breakfast included in our package and each morning we ate at Paddy's Pub which is connected to the hotel. The food was wonderful and we had a very nice and professional server who waited on us each morning. He remembered our preferences and was attentive without being intrusive.
It was easy to drive to Acadia National Park from the hotel which was another big plus.
I loved the West Street Hotel and recommend it highly..

The entire hotel faces the marina and harbor. There are rooms which gave side streets and a parking lot behind the hotel. I don’t know how they would differentiate ocean vs Harbor. I would try to get any water view vs. parking lot. You could call front desk for more info.

Absolutely! Finn is the hotel mascot. He is a beautiful yellow lab. I think there’s a weight limit, but I’m not completely sure. In all actuality Bar Harbor itself is a very dog friendly town. You can even bring them into restaurants that have outdoor seating. Many of the businesses also water dishes outside their entrances for your fur-baby to have a drink.
