We rented our one bedroom condo online with Kauai Exclusives paying via Rental Host. I must say my husband and I would highly recommend unit D402 - it was very clean and offered everything we needed from: a fully functional kitchen, washer/dryer, two bathrooms, amazing views, in addition to the resort amenaties such as beach towels, beach and pool areas. We loved walking the beach directly outfront of the resort and the paved beach walk close by which led to various shops and places to eat. The convience of having a safeway directly across the street was very convienient. The beach is not swimable due to rip tides but there are many close by. We will definately be back !

My husband, myself and our two kids (10 and 15) had an amazing time! We rented a private unit through Airbnb. The location of the resort is perfect for getting around the island and there are some shops and a grocery store right near by. We got a unit that was not pool or beach view and we found it to be so quiet! We had two bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The layout was different but worked great! We had three toilets, 2 showers and 2 bathtubs. We could have 3 people taking a bath/shower at the same time in private. The pool is great, but it doesn't open until 10 which seems late to me. The towels are a little bit of a hassle as well. There were several times the towel staff were gone and no one could assist you, so you just had to wait. Beach was pretty, but since there were not chairs and the pool was so nice we really stayed at the pool.
Please get a rental car as soon as you book. They book out at 1-2 months at the time of writing this. Turo is a great resource in addition to the usual places.
We did a helicopter tour with Jack Harter and I can not say enough great things! If this is the one thing you do, do it!! We also did the Smith Family Luau and loved it! Food was amazing, show great and price right! We did a snorkel trip with Kauai snorkel tours and it was great too! We also did the secret falls hike and I would not try this unless you have tennis shoes or Teva's. It was so muddy that doing the trail in plain flip flops was a little miserable.
We drove over to multiple waterfalls and beaches and it was wonderful! We went to anihi beach and our kids saw a turtle while swimming! Kauai.com is a great resource.
Walgreens ID Now test is the way to go! Free test and we had results in a few hours time. Tests need to be done 72 hours before the flight from mainland to the island.
You will love Kauai! Feel free to message me if you have specific questions!

First, all units are different so make sure you do some research when you book your condo here. All the rooms are different, so you may find a great review for one, but a terrible review for another. You will find this resort listed on all sorts of websites. The best value is to find them via a local Kauai property management company (look on their sites first to avoid the "BRBO" and "CLAIRBNB" fees...please note this resort regardless of where you book will tack on cleaning fees, a daily resort fee and they also charge if you do not return pool towels at end of stay...these fees are all unavoidable so just be aware of those added costs).
Our unit was perfect for us! It was updated nicely and clean. I found the staff that we did interact with to be very professional and friendly.
This resort is in a great location. If you are debating which side of the island to stay on and you don't have a couple of weeks to split between the north and south side, just stay here. The island is not that big and roads can get busy, but this is still a good spot to do day trips to both sides of the island.
The Safeway closest to the resort is just okay (works in a pinch or if you are exhausted when you get there). The nicer one is in Lihue (by Costco, Costco if you have a card is also an excellent grocery option, but be prepared to wait in line for gas there). I recommend going to Lihue to shop (but again you are close for last minute things, it's just not stocked that well).
The pool is awesome. My kids loved it. The beach is not the best on the island, but it is nice and so cool to be able to walk over at anytime. We did spend time in the water (ocean) right at the resort and also lots of sand if your kids love to play in it.

My husband surprised me with a trip to Kauai for our tenth anniversary and this is where we stayed. We loved it. Our room was more like an apartment- kitchen, living room, two bathrooms! It was super clean, we had our own patio etc. The pool was spotless and due to it's shape you could easily have privacy. The beach it's set on is beautiful, the restaurant it delicious- we both loved it and next time we come back, we're gonna stay here again.

Ok, first serious trip since Covid lockdown and first time to Kauai. Traveled solo to attend a wedding. I booked a six night stay through American Airlines Vacations. The room (E402) was fine. It was an end unit studio on the fourth floor with a partial view of the ocean. It was clean, the air conditioning worked well (particularly in tandem with the ceiling fan) and the bed was comfortable. There was a mini-fridge, a coffee maker and a microwave. No utensils or plates (contrary to the booking info) but they did provide paper towels. There is also a small lanai with a table and chairs.

Check in went relatively smoothly and the receptionist (Lani?) turned out to be super helpful (and friendly) throughout my stay. The concierge (Karen?) was also charming. In general the facility and grounds were well kept and the location of the resort is convenient. It is right across from a small shopping area with a Safeway and some shops - and a good cafe (Coconut's Fish Cafe). You can also jump on the bike path and enjoy a beautiful ride or walk up the coast. The hotel beach was was pretty (pic uploaded). I wasn't too crazy about the pool because it seemed to be geared to kids and parents. I went down to cool off after a hike and felt awkward standing around surrounded by toddlers and attending adults. Nonetheless it would be a great pool if you were a kid. There were nice lounging areas though if you just wanted to sit outside The air conditioned gym was a big plus with some good equipment. Renting a beach cruiser or snorkeling equipment is reasonable and easy to do.

My only real reservation was the combination of the resort fee ($26 a day plus tax) and the cleaning charge ($229 plus tax - only cleaned on departure). AA disclosed the add on charges so I guess I was in denial about what they would add up to but being charged an extra $426 on arrival was disconcerting. Resort fees/add ons are definitely becoming "a thing" and I need to start being better about factoring the extras into the quoted cost of the vacation.

Anyway, I could see how this would be a good place for a family and I had a good experience overall. Kauai, of course, is extraordinary.

A bit of background. This was out fourth or fifth visit to this resort complex and the first to this particular condo.

We love this location, this community (we lived here for two years and visit yearly and love the grounds, and beach.

This particular unit D-302 was the most expensive we have ever rented there. The pluses: the view was great, the front staff was wonderful and helpful, the a/c was great, it was quiet.

The negatives: the condo is getting old and worn. The condo had very limited utensils, bowls, no pitcher, limited cooking pans. The sofa and sofa mattress were sad, ancient and worn. There used to be ceiling fans in the bedroom and there used to be one in D-302 as the spot for it remained but.

All the appliances worked well and the place was clean.

The bed was oddly made with what appeared tp be short sheets and no fitted sheets so they came off every night. To be clear since this was a condo we did not expect service but this is the way it came and it was strange.

Now if this was a cheaper place to stay then this would have been a sacrifice for price but this was several hundred dollars per day so...

One more issue: The condos used to have a cooler, some boogie boards, beach matts for people to use. No more. You can rent very used boogie boards for ten bucks a day. You can also rent the most rusted old single speeds bikes for 20 dollars for three hours. Go to a bike rental shop and get one that works and with an oiled chain.,

I digress.

I look forward to returning to this place but also look forward to some upgraded fixtures.

More pluses-the pool is awesome, the grills are spotless, are beautiful and the staff sublime.

This is a very convenient location with a great restaurant attached and so close to the beach and shops. However, we were given a room on the ground floor that definitely smelt of mould. We couldn't stay there because it was not easy to stay in the room without getting headaches. Reception kindly moved us to the fourth floor with an ocean view. It became obvious that the resort had drainage problems. We were at roof level and the gutters under heavy rain flooded back into the eaves. Part of the eaves had been cut out to allow water to drain. Water damage was evident on all the eaves. Beautiful resort but this made it look shoddy. There was also no daily room service. Finally we booked a studio, but the room was definitely a motel room. There was no sink for washing up and no crockery.

Condo style resort of average quality. Extensive pools and hot tubs but beach is not truly swimable due to coral - bring beach shoes. Centrally located in Kapa’a and about ten mins from airport. We stayed in ocean view, two bedroom. 8 mile bike/ walking trail nearby. There is better beach park just down the road but does not compensate for lack of swimming beach in front of property. Beware exorbitant cleaning fee - we stayed three nights and cleaning fee was $350. That’s gouging.

Stayed here for a 5 night family vacation. The pool is great with the water slides, lazy river, and small waterfalls. The condo we stayed in was clean and very nice with 2 bedrooms, 3 baths and a high end kitchen. The “Mountain View” room does not have much of a view except for a view of McDonald’s and Safeway. The property has good potential if it was managed by a different resort company other than Outrigger. It is called a resort, but does not feel like a resort at all. No one to greet you at the entrance, no lifeguard at the pool, no security, an odd check-in area, and very poor customer service. Except for Tony the concierge, every other employee we interfaced with on the property was rude and had an attitude of not wanting to be there, including the front desk. It was to the point where some employees would walk by you without even acknowledging you with a smile or a simple Aloha. This was the first place we have stayed on 4 of the Hawaiian islands that has not had the typical overly-friendly Hawaiian attitude. We enjoyed Kauai, but will not stay here again.

This was our second time staying in D-402 in beautiful Waipouli Resort and won't be our last. The condo decor and amenities far exceed the usual. It is comfortable and flawlessly maintained. The location of this unit is ideal for enjoying a view of the beautiful grounds and beyond to the ocean. The location of this resort couldn't be better...offering a great 'home base' to travel around the island in either direction. There is a grocery store across the street and several restaurants within a mile of the resort. The grounds are beautiful. A huge koi pond greets you as you step out from the lobby. There is a fresh water lazy river with waterfalls along the way. Two water slides are in the center of the pool. There are three sand-bottomed jacuzzis...one for families and two for adults only. Pool towels are provided daily. The gym is well equipped and exercise all equipment was functioning. The Oasis Restaurant on the premises gets good reviews. Waipouli checks all the boxes and then some!

There were little bottles-not dispensers. I'm not sure if they give you more for free if you need more as there is not housekeeping. For example, they provided two coffee packs but then we had to purchase more. We brought our own shampoo and conditioner or you are in walking distance from a Safeway and a Longs Drug store.

The beach itself is mildly steep but the water is filled with coral and rocks so no surfing. The water is rough and I have not seen anyone really snorkel there in the years I lived there and have visited. Occasionally a spearfisher will be out there but it is not a swimming beach. As you leave Kapaa heading north right outside of town there is a great surfing and boogie board beach wit a lifeguard and parking at Kealia. It's great and has a sandy beach and seafloor with consistant waves. Enjoy!
