Best massage I've ever had. However the spa facilities themselves were quite poor. The only shower stalls available for use before treatments were in the pool locker room and were only 8 stalls facing each other. Only six of which had shower heads that were working. I brought a friend whose first spa experience this was and I was telling him what to expect before our appointment, but then found myself constantly apologizing to him when we arrived saying "I'm sorry, all the OTHER spa's I've been to had"...this or that service or amenity that this one did not. Not a huge deal, like I said the service was the absolute best, so I didn't really care at the conclusion, it was just a bit embarrassing to be made out to be so unknowing. The roof top pool and hot tub are out of this world. A bucket list of hotel experiences would be to come here for a spa treatment and then watch the sunset on the peaks.
As far as food, I wouldn't go to snowbird with high expectations. If you are served something very good, be thankful, just don't go into it with that as a requirement or you will be disappointed frequently.
All of this pales in comparison to the fact this is the only place you should stay if you are skiing Snowbird. The bridge makes what would obviously be a terrible walk between Snowbird center and the Cliff more manageable, and the snowbird center is where the tram is, so that is really the only thing you need to know. That and the location of the peruvian lift, which is right next to the tram, so... Go there for the skiing, stay for the location and leave for dinner or rent a place with a kitchen.
DO NOT PAY FOR CANYON TRANSPORT!!! Or whatever their "preferred partner" for transport is named. At forty some dollars per person, an Uber is quicker, more pleasant and cheaper, even if it is just you. plus you don't have to sit next to smelly randos.
The new system they installed in half the building for hailing an elevator car is totally laughable. Almost ironic in its inability to move people up and down efficiently.

Came for a family staycation at the beginning of the week and we had the place to ourselves. We were very impressed by the hotel, it looks austere on the outside but inside has been remodeled and is very modern and spacious with tons of seating areas and places to explore outside of your room.

Felt very safe with their diligent Covid protocols: masks required everywhere on the grounds inside and outside, except while in guest rooms, swimming, or eating; sanitizer in every elevator and every common space; signage everywhere reminding of the safety measures; even adjusted the elevator retrieval systems so you don’t really ever have to share an elevator with others.

We loved our room, a deluxe king bedroom with floor to ceiling windows and about 600sq ft of space, foldout couch bed, table with chairs, desk, nice bathroom, mini fridge (but no microwave, take note). Comfortable beds and pillows. Air worked fine but had some strange very loud whistling sounds on the second day that came and went.

The 3rd floor pool was beautiful and very warm (great for little kids!), and always plenty of fresh towels. Swam every day. Hardly anyone there at all but there are three hot tubs if it gets busy (one was out of order). They graciously accommodated a late checkout so we could enjoy the pool on the last day too.

We enjoyed eating at the many restaurants at the hotel and at Snowbird Center, just a short walk outside and over the bridge. SeventyOne had good flatbreads, The Forklift had a great Cobb salad and burgers, easy breakfast options at The Atrium. Lots of restaurants closed though (including the fine-dining Aerie on the top floor) so check website for details. We found all websites to be accurate and up to date. Only wish they had a coffee option before Atrium opened at 7am - my husband is an early riser and waiting so long for the first cup is a challenge 🤪.

Took advantage of the Dine and Stay package offered on their website which offered a $50 dining credit each day (about a 50% discount) and really loved that.

This was a perfect place for our family staycation and we will be back!

Snowbird is one of the best skiing locations in the USA (if not world) and for that reason alone the Cliff Lodge is a great location. Although we have stayed at the Cliff Lodge many times over the years they no longer provide the service and hospitality that is needed for something in this price range. Our last stay had a number of issues:

1) When booking I was told that we would be in the 9th floor with a Mountain View. However, when arriving they had us in a room on the first floor and to get the 9th floor that would be $200 more. It's a bit of a scam.

2) For some inexplicable reason the hotel decided to move snow around outside our window at 5am one morning. That wasn't so bad, but whenever the dozer would back up it would beep-beep-beep loudly. Waking us up each time.

3) One morning we stopped by the concierge desk to ask her to make reservations at a local restaurant for dinner. After skiing for the day we hadn't heard anything about the reservation so we stopped back by the concierge desk and they forgot to call. They had no record of the request. By the time they called the restaurant in the late afternoon they were booked.

4) The smoke alarm in the room would go off if we showered left the door to the bathroom open.

5) When we arrived no one was around to help us with our equipment. We ended up lugging it up to the check-in desk ourselves.

This might be our last stay at the Cliff Lodge. Fortunately some new options opened up in the valley so will be looking at those.

When I checked into The Cliff Lodge, I got a room that only had a sofa pullout bed. I spent over $3000 and they gave me a sofa bed. When I was booking the room over the phone I was promised a hot tub, kitchen, ski in ski out room and no mention of not having a proper bed to sleep in.

When I contacted the reception, I was forced to pay additional $75 per night for a normal room on the 9th floor. I booked an upgrade to have a hot tub and a kitchen, I had to further upgrade to get a bed without a hot tub or a kitchen.

Be careful very sneaky tactics The Cliff Lodge has. If you're making a trip to Utah it's best to avoid Snowbird resort as whole. There are better places in Utah that will give you a better time for a lot less.

I didn't have a real bed in my room.

Just finished the best ski on/off vacation we ever had! We all loved the private hot tub on our balcony, which had a breathtaking view of the mountains in Little Cottonwood canyon. The amenities in the 2BR suite were updated and clean, and it was convenient to have 3 full baths in the unit after a full day of skiing. The only thing I would change is that instead of having a king bed and a sofa sleeper in each bedroom, I would prefer 2 queen beds in each. Our unit also included a washer and dryer that allowed us to pack less for our vacation. We had 3 ski lockers assigned to our unit each one of which had enough room to hold all the equipment for a family of four. The staff was helpful and courteous throughout our stay and really made for a smooth check in and departure. And I could go on for pages about the Snowbird itself as it is by far the best skiing terrain we have experienced out of 20+ ski resorts we have visited in North America. It was overall our best vacation ever!

I’ll start with the good. You are at Snowbird which is an amazing ski area. So location is what you are paying for. You are not paying for a relaxing or luxurious stay, despite what the price might lead you to believe.

What’s not relaxing is the fact that the doors between adjoining rooms are not soundproofed so the screaming children next door will almost be right there with you in your room. What’s also not relaxing is waking up at 4am from the headlights of a snowplow outside your room, because the blackout curtains don’t go all the way to the end of the windows. That snowplow will continue to grind outside your window for the next 25 minutes and you may not fall back to sleep because the room is at a constant 66 degrees. But guess what - if you want coffee before the Atrium opens at 7, you better hope your dinky Keurig wasn’t broken like ours was, and forget about even a creamer because there won’t be one. For $600+ an night I would expected the bare minimum of a cotton ball or qtip in the bathroom. It’s more no-frills than a Holiday Inn. The lights in the bathroom have one option—on or off. So it’s either bright glaring lights while you sleep or fumbling in the dark to find the bathroom. The desk staff appears to be made up of young inexperienced kids who have no idea about anything so your complaints will be met by dull stares. You will be told they probably don’t have another room, even though almost ever door on your floor (except with with the screaming kids of course) remains sealed with their “Covid cleaned” sticker that has not been broken as the room awaits a new guest.

We chose the Cliff Lodge because it seemed like the most recently renovated, and you can see areas they put money into - like the front desk and arrival lobby. Clearly whoever designed those areas did not work on the rooms, which feel cheap and depressing in comparison. The entire time we stayed there someone’s room service trays sat outside their room piled up in the hallway. The fact that the dirty dishes were still there when we left is about all you need to know about the level of service at the Cliff Lodge.

Just returned from a guys trip to ski Snowbird and Alta. First time staying at the Cliff Lodge.

The hotel was updated within the past few years and is pretty swanky compared to other Snowbird lodging options. Arrived early from my flight and the room was ready. My room had two queen beds and was comfortable. The shower though did not drain well, when done using it would have a couple inches of scuzzy water in it. After a while it almost seemed as if sand was coming up? There was no housekeeping during the stay so that tub was a little sketchy by day 5 and really not what is expected of a room that costs $800/night.

I was on floor 3, same as the outdoor pool and hot tubs, highly convenient. The pool was nice and warm which made it a good option when the hot tubs were full. Only 2 of the 3 hot tubs were in operation for some reason. Was told there is a nicer pool/hot tub facility on the roof but you need to pay $35 to use it as part of the spa.

Ski lockers were easy and convenient, quick work to gear up and ski down to the tram. Easy to get back with the lift that services the Cliff.

Be prepared for the elevators. They have a weird touch screen control panel system I have never seen before. Was a common point of conversation with fellow guests about how confusing it was to use.

The 71 restaurant was good, hamburgers in particular are awesome. Found the casual Atrium breakfast place underwhelming, with my microwaved burrito.

Since Snowbird has so few lodging options this is about as good as you will find there so it is the top dog. If it was located in Park City or another ski resort, it would be mid range. Expensive and over priced for what you get, but I would go back.

Skiing at Snowbird has been a blast for 40 plus years, with a fantastic mountain and consistently great snow. The Cliff Lodge sits right at the bottom, and should be an equally fantastic resort hotel. Unfortunately, it is not. There are too many annoying problems to list here. Topping the list, just skiing in is a hassle. The slope side of the hotel gives you a stiff arm. It has no landing area, or any real access. Instead, you have to ski past and below it to a slow little 2 seat lift up to the backside of the hotel, where the ski shop and guest ski lockers are located. There is no restaurant, or anything else on that side of the building, so next you navigate the baffling elevators to the floor above (or is it below? Signs not much help), walk down a couple hallways, and under an escalator to finally reach the Atrium or 71 restaurant for a bite and a beer. Best skip the Atrium altogether. Food at 71 is good but overpriced, resulting in it being empty most of the time. And if you have anyone under 18, the side with nice seats and view is considered a bar, and strictly off limits. So maybe just pick up a snack for the kids in the shop near the front desk. We noticed guests buying frozen dinners for the kids, but since there is no way to heat them in the rooms, handing them to the sole front desk worker who disappeared for ten minutes to the mystery microwave. Cool rooftop pool is prominently featured in the marketing but will set you back $30 per day per guest. Employees generally cold, and looking for a back room to slip away into. The building itself is iconic and cool, with lots of nice new furniture, but no energy or reason to sit down, unless you’re just tired of walking the hallways looking for your room, or food, or the slopes, so tumble weeds. And it’s a shame because the location is so perfect, and the skiing is a dream. Please somebody competent start managing this place.

This is hands-down one of the best ski resorts if not the best in the world. If you’re coming to ski this is the place.

I would’ve given it a five star but there were enough irritants and things that needed to be addressed that have not been so 3 stars it is. I would consider not coming back if these are not addressed.

Hundreds of things right but a few significant things wrong. The new elevator system is the biggest joke in the world you spent all your time waiting for an elevator. They went digital and you might as well put a Starbucks on every floor because the wait is ridiculous, this is the worst deployment of artificial intelligence I’ve ever seen.

The heat control in the room is completely ineffective. I slept with the window open for 5 nights what a waste of energy and then they play a video on the open channel on the TV how we need to take care of the planet.

I had the best ski lesson of my life the only problem is it took 45 minutes of hiking around wasting my time before the lesson actually began they told me to show up at 9:45 I showed up promptly we were not skiing till almost 10:45 what a joke and disrespectful of my time.

The lockers are fantastic the only problem is how to use them is posted in only a few places it would be so simple to put a sticker on each locker explaining how the codes work but instead you have to waste your time going to get an attendant to have them help you. Even the attendance think it’s stupid, I asked if he made the suggestion and he yes but they don’t listen.

I stayed on the ninth floor And payed a tone extra so I could have access to the sauna but it didn’t work, always too cool you couldn’t work up a sweat if your life depended on it. I told the spa staff about it but no results, another example of not addressing the issues.

They have hot water machines for making tea which is a wonderful touch, the problem is they don’t work and there’s no instructions on how to work them. By and large it’s a fabulous place but the management needs to start listening and addressing these issues.

Hello, Thank you for staying with us at the Cliff Lodge and for your kind comments regarding our mountain! In regards to your comments on the elevators, we are fully aware of the issues it has been causing. We are in the process of updating all of our elevators, which in turn, can cause delays. Once all of our elevators are updated, guests will see a notable difference in wait time and elevator efficiency. As we work through making the necessary updates, the elevator system will be delayed. We are also aware of our signage within the Cliff Lodge. We are currently in the process of making additional signs within the locker room area and the rest of the Cliff. Thank you for your feedback.

I nice property located in Cottonwood Canyon with beautiful views ended up disappointing. The main reason for the stay was to celebrate a birthday and get away from the city and relax on the rooftop pool. I have never been to this property and I ended up upgrading the room to a larger suite which was very nice and large but had wine stains on the carpet. I saw a sign on the elevator stating if you wanted to use the rooftop pool you had to make a reservation and pay additional fees. This caught us by surprise as we thought it was included with the stay and the charge of the resort fees. We opted to use the standard pool located on the 3rd floor. We arrived and there was a sign that said pardon the noise while work was being done on one of the hot tubs. We ended up not using the pool at all! The unbearable constant loud noise of the jackhammer was too much for what was supposed to be a relaxing stay turned out to be a bust. I wish we would have been more informed during the booking process otherwise, I would have chosen a different time to come or a different location for this particular birthday getaway.

Hi Chris, Thank you for staying with us at the Cliff Lodge! Yes, we still do have the free washers/dryers on every floor. There is a bus shuttle to Alta from Snowbird and our Cliff Valet team can also take you to Alta free of charge. The schedule for the bus to Alta is located both at our concierge desk and valet desk. You can also go online to UTA to check their schedule. Please let us know if you have any further questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!

There are beginner slopes and areas and one of the best ski/snowboard schools around, especially for kids, which is split between very small kids in Camp Snowbird-includes inside activities at Cliff Lodge--and Kinderbirds for older children. There are also really good blue runs. It is more advanced than other areas but everyone learns fast as a result.
