Detailed Reviews
Great place and wish somehow we could move our business and make this place our home! Very unique and needs a little "love" but a mansion disguised as a B&B. We were at the Jazz fest and needed a great place to stay and was perfect!

It's hard to beat the setting and location of the Hillcrest Inn. Located a short five minute walk from downtown Port Hope, the inn is nestled on a large, private lot providing views to Lake Ontario. It is a lovely and tranquil setting with a gorgeous back yard containing a large swimming pool. The house is enormous and all the rooms have a lovely outsized feel to them. We thoroughly enjoyed our room - the Helena Suite. Located at the back of the house on the second floor it has a private terrace with great views south to the lake. The room is enormous with a large four poster bed that you need a small step ladder to climb onto. The service was excellent and breakfast most hearty (we really enjoyed the homemade muffins). Sadly, the owner (Robin) has sold the property and it is unclear at this time what plans the new owners have when they take possession at the end of September.

My husband and I spent a night at Hillcrest Bed and Breakfast and very much enjoyed our stay. Since I am someone who likes old and mysterious places, Hillcrest was the best location to be at Port Hope. The rooms have a charming old-world feel to it which is quite an experience. There is no air conditioning but the fan keeps the room quite cool. We were given permission to snoop around the mansion which was amazing. There are so many rooms and winding staircases and although you think you may get lost, you really won't. There's also a swimming pool beside the mansion and if you enjoy walking, you can walk in the surrounding woods. I had a good night's sleep and so did my husband. The view from the dining area is spectacular and you can enjoy your breakfast while looking at the sun, the lake and the trees through the window. Worth a stay I'd say.

My sister and I were cycling through Port Hope and were lucky enough to have made arrangements to stay at the Hillcrest. It is such a beautiful home and we loved our room. The hospitality we received was outstanding. We had a wonderful stay and I have been recommending Port Hope and the Hillcrest as a travel destination to my family and friends.

I was looking for a quite and peaceful getaway on the night of my third year wedding anniversary with my wife and I found this historic Bed and Breakfast the perfect option. We both truly enjoyed our stay. We received great hospitality from the host with total privacy of our own in our room. The owner (Robin) was kind enough to place us in the best room in the house and we had a great view of the lake from the window of our room. At the end of our stay we also received a great gift/souvenir from Robin. I loved the Bleeding Hearts flowers she had in her garden and she was very kind to dig a small pot size portion for us to take home to plant. Thank you very much again and I hope I would go back there again. Highly recommended.

Driving from Michigan to Montreal on a day with thunderstorms and heavy weekend traffic, I got off the highway and found the Hillcrest Inn just driving by.
Historical building, absolutely relaxing location, very charming hostess and absolutely quiet, like staying over at the summerplace of affluent relatives.
Can absolutely recommend the Hillcrest Inn and Port Hope, which gave me a wide range of restaurants, pizzerias, eating places for the evening.
For my travel budget the price was a little high, the pool was not heated, the mattress was too soft for my back, but I would absolutely go there again!
