This is an older, somewhat dated resort, but the grounds around the Bras d’Or Lakes are truly beautiful, reflective of the splendor of Cape Breton Island, impeccable landscaping, well-maintained flower beds, hedges and grass, and direct access to the shore of the lake and a small marina area. The scenery overcomes the rustic nature of the resort itself. I stayed in Argyle Hall which offered a relatively small room with a view of the parking lot (would have much preferred to face the lake), but the room was clean, comfortable and functional. The Lakeside Restaurant at the resort was great – very generous servings and delicious seafood, no complaints!

I was surprised to find that the Inverary Resort was open and offering a Valentines package. I booked the package and upon arrival here were hearts on both beds, as well as a bottle of wine, a little card and some cookies. A call from the front desk came about 4 minutes later asking if the room was ok and if there was anything we needed. The only reason I gave the trip 4 bubbles was because of the room. The room we had was just a basic room with basic amenities. Sadly it didn't have a fridge and it only had one chair (other than the desk chair). Beyond this, the room was very clean and well cared for despite it's basic setup. It would have been nice to have a room with one bed but I didn't book early enough I guess and the main building is still under construction after the fire. Each night we went to "the pub" which is actually a conference room that has been converted into a dining room (again because the main building is still being rebuilt. Because of Covid, there is limited seating and we had hoped to have a pre-dinner drinks but we hadn't made a reservation. They did set us up with a little table in the corner so we could have a few drinks and when a reservation didn't show up, they found us a table. Both nights we had the pleasure of being served by Laura who was wonderful and had a great sense of humor. If visiting there, you really should ask for her. In terms of the food, it was very good. The menu was quite interesting and the chef's take on regular food was again exciting. If you are a "meat and potatoes" person, this may not be for you but was a great experience. On both nights there had live entertainment and both acts were great (a nice mix of classics and maritime music).

The Inverary Resort is an older resort set in a beautiful setting on the Bras D’or lakes. The outdoor amenities are fine with a large property with numerous activities available. The problem starts when you go indoors. The rooms are tired and dreary. The carpet was musty and damp. The bathrooms are dark and dreary. Everything needs updating. We were told there are newer rooms available but they were not open this season. For $180 per night, this is a gigantic rip off. The rooms remind me of an old Super 8 motel you pay $59 for! Dinner at the Lakeside was quite expensive for what you get. The salmon was tasty but was only a 3 oz portion at best. I was still starving at the end of the meal. and $17 for a glass of wine???? The included breakfast was scanty as well. Even in times of Covid, surely they could serve TWO pieces of toast with your egg instead of just one! This is definitely our last stay here!

First I have to say that the outside and grounds are amazing. The maid was very friendly and did a great job with what she had to work with. This week I stayed in room 54 and walking up to the room noticed that the windows were open and ac was running. When I opened the door the musty smell was terrible. Inside there was a portable dehumidifier but it was not helping much. Most metal fixtures were rusted and stains were on the furniture. I have never seen a room so rundown.
The carpets seemed to be out of the 70s and contained mold. I have a mold allergy and had to medicate to stay in the room.
Put some money into the rooms or close them!

We stayed as part of a "Stay and Play" golf deal. We were booked for two separate days (3 days apart) and we canceled the second night after the first night.

This was a very basic room and hadn't aged well as it felt like it was built in the 60's. There were no extras in the room which didn't even have a trash can. The air conditioner would only work for about 10 minutes then stopped despite the temperature setting.

The included breakfast was basic but the service was excellent. We didn't eat dinner here as they didn't open early enough for us. The restaurant was quite basic and looked to be quite old but had a beautiful view.

The location was beautiful and there would be things for kids to do in the summer, but the "beach" looked uninviting regardless of weather.

Even for a "Stay and Play" this was no deal.

We stayed overnight at the Inverary Resort and we loved it!

They were so friendly and even let us check in a little early!

We knew we were bringing our Beagle, Daisy, with us and we let them know ahead of time. When we arrived there was even a care package for her with treats, cleanup bags, a tag and a sign for our door to let other guests know we had a pet on vacation with us. A really nice added touch!

We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds, and smelling the flowers!

We took advantage of ‘Jet Ski Baddeck’ located on the property- and we LOVED it! We’d absolutely recommend it to anyone staying there. He even watched Daisy for us! We’re so grateful that she wasn’t alone in the room while we enjoyed an hour on the water!

The beach is small & man made but it’s absolutely wonderful! They have Adirondack chairs where your can sit and enjoy the gorgeous view! There’s also two very long mats going into the water to protect your feet!

Our room was clean, with laminate floors and a super comfy king sized bed! Perfect.

We ordered takeout from the Lakeside Restaurant, I had fish and chips - absolutely amazing. My husband had a burger loved it. It was like pub food but elevated.

The next morning we enjoyed breakfast on the patio with Daisy, and it was delicious. The service was impeccable. Our server was so friendly, maintained physical distancing and was overall very caring and kind. She was fabulous!!

We would 100 percent stay here again! No question. It’s a beautiful spot and every person that we met was so nice.

Next time we’re booking the floating picnic table!!

As one of the fortunate ones who know the Inverary Inn Staycation contest winner, I got to experience the location without a charge. The clean room was large enough to relax comfortably, and the service people were pleasant and professional. The Bell Bay golf was tremendous and there were many activities to choose from in the evenings. The Inn Management went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional. The restaurant staff was excellent, and took great care to make guests comfortable during these Covid times. The picturesque setting of the Bras D'Or Lakes and the tranquil sounds of the water on the shoreline made this trip one worth repeating.

Was not what I was expecting, a total let down for the price we paid, the room was in desperate need of a renovation and smelled really musty and was damp. The bathroom was old and towels were really cheap. I guess my expectation was higher then what was offered.

On arrival this looked just the perfect resort, but unfortunately our experience here was awful.
The resort reception is very modern as is the bar area, so on arrival things looked good. We were offered 2 rooms in the Old Barn and as soon as we entered that building it smelt musty and was extremely dated with no lifts available – we were on the 2nd floor (top floor). The visible bedding looked worn/grubby. On trying to open a window, it came out in my friend’s hand! Reception telephoned 10 mins after arrival to ask if we were happy with the rooms and we indicated we weren’t. Apparently nothing else was available and we’d just have to accept these rooms.
I went across to reception and spoke to the person on duty and explained about the window (apparently that’s supposed to happen?!!!!) and the musty smells/bedding covers. I could tell I was an absolute inconvenience for him. He then started to look at other options and finally came up with a 2 bedroom suite with lounge/kitchenette. We accepted it as it was wooden flooring and less smelly, but still very very dated and way short of what we’d expect. The beds were comfortable, but the furniture throughout was badly scratched and marked and the kitchenette was of little use as it didn’t have enough crockery/cutlery for 4 and it had no knives at all! One of the ensuite bathrooms had no working lights – this was reported and fixed the next day as it was too late to report it when we discovered the problem. This suite was on the 3rd floor (top floor) of another building, again with no lifts, and no offer of assistance with luggage.
The breakfast staff in the restaurant were very friendly and attentive, but we were definitely seen as a burden to reception staff (apart from the more mature check-out lady who was very pleasant).
Don't be fooled by the pictures/reviews online as both places we were offerred couldn’t be further away from what's seen online.
We would absolutely not recommend this resort and I expect there are many better options in Baddeck.

I had booked this resort based on a recommendation and spoke several times to reservations. I was told we were getting an executive king with a propane fireplace and possibly in the new building which was overdue to open. On arrival the desk clerk informed that the new building was not ready and we were placed in an old building with a second floor room. You guessed it, no elevators. So two 70 plus had to hump our bags for what was to be a 3 day luxury stay up a creaky stairway with ripped wallpaper, and into a very tired room. Worn furniture, marks on the walls, and the propane fireplace was a fire log which we would never use. And no food on premises. The heater wall unit sounds like a freight train every time it starts up. No good night sleep here. They offered a room change but we are checking out a day early. Hope they get their act together.
