Florida
Quaint, small (one beach block long) and VERY NARROW, county owned campground with direct access to the beach. Class B & C motorhomes fit extremely well in the reasonably priced campsites (44 sites). Saw some Class A's and various small size trailers but manuverability is an issue and their site availability is more limited due to the narrow access road. There is paid "toad" parking in the public parking lot next door. Parked trucks had to be moved around sites so other trailers could back in to their sites. When reserving you will be asked the size of your rig - it's extremely important at this old Florida throwback campground as it will determine your accessability or not. Sites are very close together with some having more privacy via shrubbery than others. They do have picnic tables but no open campfire pits due to close proximity. They have a nice picnic area at the entrance to the beach with picnic tables and grills. Each site has updated full hookups, 30/50 amp, that had no issue with Florida summer heat and demand. WiFi was available but slow depending on time of day. ATT service excellent. The North side of the access road backs up to houses, the south side backs up to the public parking lot. During the week noise was not an issue but can't speak for the weekend. This campground is a hidden Florida beach treasure that is heavily populated with locals and books out a year in advance. Will definitely be returning!

It is hard to get a spot since this is a very small campground and r'veers from closed by areas spend weekend which makes it hard to get a long term. We stayed 4 days last year, year before "red tide" made it impossible and the park refunded our stay, this year we were able to get a full month and have already reserved next year (2021) for a full month. The beach has been great for the exception (due to Laura's) this past week it has been heavy on seaweed, like red algae, but a short trip to Lido and Siesta Key beaches took care of our last week in the park vacation since these two beaches were not affected by the seaweed. Sunsets are delightful, when weather permits.

WiFi is extremely slow that even my laptop or tablet are not able to connect at anytime of the day or night, glad I packed a portable wifi to work remote. I was told new fiber optics will replace current mini towers and there should be high speed internet soon. So hoping to count on it next year!

Camp hosts, Tony and Nancy, extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the marine (turtles) and area birds in this area.

If you can get a site, you will certainly enjoy camping in Turtle Beach Campgrounds.

Hello everyone: we've been going in our RV trailer to this campground for a few years now. We have never had a problem. I'm so sorry about those people that did, like the young lady that her car got stuck on the road and the guy was being very rude to her, etc.

This is a typical oceanfront campground with it's ups and downs. Some days Wi-Fi has better reception than others, etc. But the beauty of it is that it's right on the beach! Not a beach like others with the cold water, the dark water or a dirty beach. This beach is a beautiful beach with the delicious warm water, clean, white sand and the best view of the sunsets you'll have!! That's our highlight of the day!!
Everyday we get our chairs and sit on the beach (or swim) to watch this beautiful spectacle that God provides for us. We make a reservation every year in July for a week. We cook outside, we sit and talk to others, and there's a great outside shower by the bathrooms to get the sand of your body/feet. Please give this campground another chance. You won't regret it.

I’m sorry to write this. I wanted to write a happy review. Unfortunately, I have to write that the restrooms at this campground were disgusting. Over the weekend they ran out of toilet paper, the floors became dirty, sandy, and muddy. The toilet seats had blood, human feces, hair, and urine on them. No one cleaned the bathrooms and shower area over the entire weekend. We arrived Friday afternoon and that evening we found alot hair circling all around the drain of the showers. Over the course of the weekend it just became worse and worse, and completely unfit for use by family, friends, and particularly children. Next-door are the Public Beach restrooms. These facilities were clean and neat. However, the public beach does not have indoor showers. The public beach restrooms shouldn’t have to be used by the guests staying at Turtle Beach Campground. And they are far enough away that I didn’t cherish the thought of having to walk there in the middle of the night. Finally, the filth at turtle beach campground restroom building has been brought to the owners attention prior, and they have never done anything about it. This gives small business owners a bad name. Most small businesses pride themselves on doing all they can to meet the needs of their clientele. It’s beyond me why they would allow this to go on without correcting the problem-that is, unless they just don’t care. I mean, it’s a small, four-walled concrete structure, surely they can get over there themselves and clean it properly each day. Finally, the sad thing is that we had a young woman with us that had never been camping before and this really turned her off to the experience. I doubt she’ll be camping anytime soon. I know she’ll never camp at Turtle Beach Campground again.

I felt safe as a solo camper in a tent. The host was so kind and proactively helpful to me. The short walk to the beach was amazing. I didn’t see any campsites that I wouldn’t recommend. The bathrooms are clean with great, hot showers. Siesta Beach was too crowded for me , so I loved having this uncrowded beach just a short walk away.

Location is awesome and just a minute walk to the beach. Not too crowded. Has few picnic tables for lunch as well as laundry/restrooms and wi-fi. Secure location. Friendly staff. Very tight fit on big RV. Good water pressure and no problems during few nights stay. Free trolley ride to Siesta Key beach area.

Very bad internet and the breaker to the power shut off twice! It’s a beautiful area, lots of shade. In between the Bay and the Gulf. I would not go back because of the bad Internet connection unless I was right next to the source, which is the bath/laundry area. The restaurant, Turtle Beach Grill, had really good food.

20 people on two sites played loud Mexican music until 1AM overtaking park with their lounge chairs in the street. Everyone kept asking them to lower volume since 3 PM. Police supposedly came at 1 AM. Camp host was ineffective. They Had karaoke machine.

Needless to say that Siesta Key Beach is beautiful. It has been rated #1 in the US many years in a roll. The campground is also wonderful. It's small so some big rigs won't fit. Our 26 foot was perfect for this campground. Everything is kept super clean. Did not have to use bathrooms or showers but looked in and they are well kept. They also have laundry facilities. When on the beach you can not ask for a better sunset. There is a really good restaurant across the street ride your bike or walk. We will definitely be back. You must reserve well in advance they are so good they book early. The only reason I gave them a four is because they don't take cash not even for a sticker. Minor stuff.

My fiancé and I just got back from 5 days tent camping at Turtle Beach Campground and it was great! A couple things to note if you decide to tent camp here:

-The ground is mostly shells so bring a thick tarp so you don't poke holes in your tent!
-Everyone else was in campers so we mostly had the bathrooms to ourselves, which was awesome!
-It got way colder at night than we thought it would so bring extra blankets and sleeping bags.
-No fire pits to keep you warm when sitting outside at night so also bring some warmer clothes for early mornings and night time.

Over all we had an awesome trip and the campsite/campground was amazing!

There's a free shuttle that goes back and forth, the driver accepts tips. There's a map on the wall in the laundry that shows the route and operation times.
