With a history of serving guests for over a decade, Russelltown Inn welcomes you with a tradition of Newfoundland hospitality, rich heritage, and all the conveniences a modern traveler requires. The Inn is located in the quiet, historic residential neighborhood of “Russelltown”, just minutes from Downtown Bonavista and within walking distance to the harbour, shops, museums, and an array of great restaurants. The Russelltown Inn is designed with you in mind, allowing guests the privacy of a hotel with the charm of a bed and breakfast. Rooms are located throughout the property in multiple restored heritage buildings. We've tailored each room, our hospitality and amenities to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. We hope that our attention to detail shines through each moment of your stay. We are pleased to offer a breakfast menu developed by Red Seal Chef Katie Hayes of the Bonavista Social Club. Chef Hayes not only loves cooking with fresh Newfoundland ingredients but has developed a breakfast menu inspired by the same. Breakfast will feature Bonavista Social Club homemade bread baked daily from the only commercial wood-fired bread oven in Newfoundland and Labrador as well as fresh free-range eggs and Nanny Hayley's Jams & Jellies. These jams and jellies contain no preservatives and are made from recipes dating back to the mid 1800's. The recipes originated from the Cape Shore in Bonavista and were handed through the generations. All of Nanny Hayley's jams are made from wild berries, handpicked in the Bonavista area. Breakfast is included with your stay. Hiking, iceberg, whale and bird-watching nearby. Walking distance from historic sites, Garrick Theatre, restaurants and coffee shop.

Travelling to Bonavista and booked into the Russelltown Inn we were offered the "Loft". The upstairs room was spacious and beautifully appointed with high quality furniture and accessories. The finishing and cleanliness was superb, and decorating current.
In the large bathroom toiletries from West Coast Glow were offered and appreciated, as was the local Bonavista Coffee Company coffee with a French press.
Bonus - we had been travelling for a few days across the island and when checking in we were offered the use of the machine on the lower (entrance) level of our unit which was nice.
Breakfast was a winner with a carafe of coffee accompanied with yogurt, muffins, warm boiled eggs and fruit.

My wife and I visited Newfoundland in the off season, and the first part was a four days stay at the beautiful Bonavista Peninsula. We chose the town of Bonavista as the base for our day trips and the lovely Russeltown Inn was the perfect choice for our visit. The town is quaint and convenient and had a good choice of restaurants. It is the Inn which will make us remember Bonavista with fondness. Our suite was in a lovingly restored 1887 heritage home, and it was so super comfortable and relaxing and quiet with all the modern amenities. Our breakfast was included in the rate and it was delicious and filling, hand delivered each morning at 815. I also was able to use the super comfy lounge on the first floor in the evening to read. You can walk to the local restaurants close to the inn. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.
From the inn it was a short drive to all the attractions of the Bonavista Peninsula, including the hikes, lighthouse, Elliston for the puffins and the beautiful town of Trinity. All in all, we had an amazing four days at the Russeltown Inn and this was one of the best small inns we experienced in our long years of travel all over the world. Highly recommended !

A very quaint inn in town. Our room upstairs was lovely with a comfortable bed, fluffy pillows and duvet. The owners’ attention to detail is great from the decor, the toiletries in the bathroom, French press in the room, etc. It was very quiet despite the room across from ours being occupied…the doors are offset at different ends of the hallway which helps.

After we booked our non-refundable, full-priced room, we were told via email that breakfast was not on offer and were told to check out local places for breakfast (90% of which were closed for the season). There was a boil order in place for tap water and nobody informed us of this, so we drank tap water not knowing we shouldn't have done so and only found out because we overheard locals talking about it when we found somewhere to have breakfast.

The water pressure in the shower was really weak, so washing my hair was annoyingly tedious. There were no tissues, only an empty tissue box. And the shower didn't drain properly, so I was standing in 2 inches of soapy water for the duration of my shower.

There were positives, too: the room itself was beautiful, the bed comfortable, the location quiet. We enjoyed our visit, but the attention to detail was definitely lacking and I felt swindled out of a promised breakfast.

Lawrence room is the lower part of an old barn. Check in was between 3 - 6 and the person wore a mask as we did. Felt check-in was good. Parking is good, and right out front of the room, and right behind the building you check in, but a bit tight to get in and out when full. The room was clean, spacious with a modern, spacious bathroom. The bed is comfortable but may be a bit high for shorter people to get into. You can hear every movement of the people in the loft above including walking, showering, etc. More thought should have been given to sound proofing for the price one pays for this accomodation.

Breakfast was delivered to our room about 8:30, but delivered earlier by a friendly lady. It included a craf of coffee, yogurt, tangerine, packaged muffin, and a (small package of packaged granola to mix with the packaged yogurt), (next day hard boiled eggs) per person, nicely placed within a wooden box with cups, bowls, cutlery, etc. Coffee mate was included and not cream / milk ? Coffee & tea can be made in the room with a kettle, coffee press but the set up is on top of the fridge and microwave, with limited space. Wine glasses are also provided. Excellent outdoor seating is provided on the porch and grass areas. Please repair / change the storm door latch as you must fiddle with it to ensure closure. If your neighbour doesn't latch their door properly it will bang in the night as there is often wind. Our upstairs neighbour's door banged in the wind. Laundry can be done between 3 - 6 in the main building with soap provided.

+1
Recently stayed at this Inn. We booked here originally to stay in the Glamping Pods. We later added one night in the B&B before the pods. When we checked in the first night for the B&B, the young lady which appeared very much annoyed with our questions, advised that we would not be able to check into the pods on Day 2 (even if there was nobody staying in the pod the night before). The night inside the Inn was comfortable and great.

The next day, I went to see the front desk and hope to see another employee, hoping to see someone different. I was greeted by a different person who said I could go at the Pod (at 9am) as nobody had stayed there the night before. She was much friendly.

We checked into the pods, there was instructions that the kitchen was closed and that all utensils and kitchen stuff were removed due to COVID (which we were hoping to use). Everything was there, so we ended up using it even tho we were not allowed.

Only rating a 3, because hotel staff on day one was terrible, very inconsistant compared to what is advertised online.

We stayed at the Russelltown Inn, Lawrence Room for two nights. This room has its own entry. There are two rooms in a renovated barn. The Lawrence Room is the ground level room and there is a loft room upstairs which has its own entrance as well. The room was absolutely beautiful, there was everything in the room that you could possibly need. It is close to restaurants and cafes. They had contactless entry upon check in and departure. We had a very enjoyable stay! Will definitely stay there again.

We had the Lawrence Suite, downstairs. Yes there was a little noise of chairs moving from the upstairs loft and, yes, ear plugs were provided, but the sound was not really disturbing for us (the couple upstairs was mature), and the rest of the experience was wonderful! The room was just as seen in the photos and clean as a whistle (like new really) and everything you needed was provided. The host checked us in and brought breakfast in the morning, otherwise it felt like our own private studio in town. Easy walk to anything downtown Bonavista. We enjoyed both the Tea House and Boreal Diner (which is a MUST STOP for Michelin Star quality dinner, but make a reservation).

Didn't do much research and happened to stumble upon this room as I was very last minute in booking due to work. Safe to say, I was not disappointed! Beautiful, clean room with very friendly staff! Breakfast was served around 8am each morning. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We stayed in the loft suite - fabulous, spacious, quiet, comfortable ... Smallish breakfast delivered to door (still covid precautions). When I told the woman, I don't drink coffee and seldom eat eggs, she went out of her way to get juice and some pastries for the other mornings - super service and consideration for the clients. Located on side street, easy walking distance to restaurants and Mathieu ship, easy driving distances to Ryan Premises, puffins, lighthouse, Dungeon Provincial Park. Stayed three nights - loved it. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Does every room have its own private bathroom with shower.
Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada56 contributions6 helpful votes
All baths are private. Currently there is a mixture of en-suites and also private baths across the hall. Jubilee House is currently in the process of upgrading the property. The B&B is adding additional rooms with en-suites. These will be ready for next season - May 2017. Every room will have an en-suite, with the exception of one room. which have a private bath across the hall. You should also know that 4 suites have private entrances and the name of Jubilee House will change in the near future to Russelltown Inn.
