The resort is amazing and the facility is well taken care of - clean. The neighbours who live in their cottages are very warm and friendly. There are a lot of activities for every age group to do. The only issue is the poor customer service at the admin department or the front office. They do not respond to your calls and their communication lacks the hospitality warmth. At times it seemed to me that they are doing me a favour by handing over the cottage keys when I checked in and out. The after hours phone service does not work and if you have any questions there is no one to resolve the problem. Other than unfriendly encounters with the front desk staff, remaining of the stay is absolutely amazing.

Pros:
a) cottages are clean
b) linens and toiletries provided
c) you don’t have to clean before you leave, unlike other cottage rentals
d) daily activities for kids
e) amenities - tennis, mini golf, basketball, shuffle board, air hockey, ping pong, kayaks, paddle boards, canoes etc all included
f) quiet
g) lots of fire pits available
h) cottages are spacious
I ) washer and dryer
j) fitness room
k) very friendly and helpful staff
l) family pool is lifeguarded, clean and the washrooms are clean
m) day passes to Sandbanks are included
n) adults only pool(this was under maintenance while we were there which could not be helped)

Cons:
a) Nowhere to hang towels outside
b) a sunroom or shaded area to sit out by the cottage would be nice
c) minimal seating available down by the lake - get there early for a seat
d) minimal shade down by the lake
e) more of a lake for water activities, not for swimming - entrance to water is weedy
f) it’s a good 5-10 min walk to the lake from most cottages (which has it’s positives since you get your exercise in)

Other reviewers have complained about the price however, if you rented an individual Ontario cottage, you would be responsible for bringing all linens and cleaning the cottage before you leave. You also would not have access to so many amenities this resort has to offer. Bottom line? Great place for families with lots of amenities.

We stayed at Sandbanks Summer Village for a week. We enjoyed our cottage on Butternut Lane. It had 2 bedrooms (a queen bed, a bunk bed) and a pull-out couch in the living room. Thankfully, it had air conditioning, which ran the whole week because of a heat wave. The cottage was clean and well equipped with a full kitchen. There was also a washer and dryer which ended up being useful to us. The best part of this cottage was the large screened in porch, which is where we spent most of our time (lots of dog hair though). The resort has a great heated pool with lifeguards and there is also a small beach with kayaks, canoes and SUPs for guests to use. We enjoyed the use of the pool, but were disappointed to learn that the adult pool and hot tub would be unavailable during our stay. This is really unfortunate because we had booked this cottage based in part on the facilities. Also, while they advertise a splash pad, I did not see it operating while I was there. While there are a lot of activities planned daily, I feel that some of these could be better developed and more engaging. We enjoyed our week long stay, but wish we had a view of the Lake. In fact, very few cottages have a water view and these are more expensive to book. However, we were close to the pool area and the pavilion. We enjoyed walking the grounds and the trails daily. We also felt very safe as there is a gate to access the resort and security staff. Our stay also included a pass to Sandbanks, which we definitely used. The proximity to local wineries and landmarks, make this resort a good location. All in all, after weighing the pros and cons, I would recommend Sandbanks Summer Village.

Thank you for leaving this detailed review for others! We greatly appreciate it and glad you seemed to have enjoyed your stay with us, despite missing those few amenities this season. First off it was so confusing as to who we were renting from was it Sandbanks Summer Village or East Lake Shores?

Upon check in we were only provided with key and parking pass, and no other instructions. Cleanliness of cottage was extremely poor, We had dirty dishes in the dishwasher and dirty clothes / towels in the washing machine. Plates, silverware, glasses, and cookware in kitchen were dirty and we had to clean everything prior to using. Kitchen faucet was extremely loose to the point that it felt like it would pop right off. Air Conditioner unit was clogged with dirt. Ceiling fan in main bedroom stopped working the last night. Mattress in main bedroom was old and saggy. BBQ was dirty and rusty and no way to clean. Not sure what housekeeping did prior to check in but it did not seem like they did anything nor was anyone checking on their work.

We had no heads up on the process to book the pool, had to line up like concert goers at 8am to get a 1 hour spot which was not guaranteed. One night we showed up at 7pm for our reserved time and pool was closed, no sign indicating why it was closed. Next day we were told that they were closing at 6pm because they had no staff, drove by at 7pm and pool was still open. All staff with exception to front office were teenagers, lifeguards did not pay attention to people in pool as they were too busy talking to friends or guests they knew.

For price we paid expected a lot more attention to detail ad better service, will not be coming back.

If you are looking for a place with EVERYTHING, this is the place to stay.

Excellent for families with kids or for two couples that want to discover the 40 wineries, 4-5 breweries, the restaurants, beach, etc.

There are activities every day for the kids and most of them are free, the lake, the pool, tennis, basketball, canoe, kayak, paddle board, play structure & swings, mini putt, etc. This is a gated community so kids can roam around freely.

The cottages have all been built recently and have all you need, AC, WIFI, cable, fully loaded kitchen, laundry, etc. All cottages are slightly different and furnished differently as they are all owned individually. Some of them have cathedral ceilings, screened in porch, 1 or 2 baths.

It is a great place, we go every year.

Avoid this place if you want to have a real vacation time. Otherwise ou will be asked to stand in line at 8am to book your hour at the only pool they have! they allowed only 1 hour a day per family!!!! SO basically I drove to a place that only offers 1 hour of entretement for my kids and a horrible beach with pure rocks on it, you can't even walk. HORRIBLE experience!!!!!!!!!! Please dont go to this please!
People at the reception they dont even guide you to visit a good beach! we have to find one 40 minutes away. The village dont have any vending machine! not even the possibilit of buying a coffee! nothing! I will definitetly dont come back nor reccomend to anyone I know!

This was our 5th year coming back to Sandbanks Summer Village Cottages. We are group of 6 families (25 people) who rent 6 cottages each year. Over the years, we have recommended these cottages to countless other families. Unfortunately, this year's stay was disappointing to all primarily due to the lack of cleanliness and dirt in our cottages. It was as if the cottage had not even been cleaned prior to our arrival. Dishwasher was full, the kitchen and the floors were filthy (see attached picture for the inside of the coffee machine filled with mold) and the closets full of stuff with no room to hang clothes. I have sent e-mails to both the new management (East Shore) and Sandbanks Summer Villages with no reply from either. Super disappointing for the steep price that is charged here (and that increases) each year.

I stayed at this resort last summer, it was fantastic. Great amenities, wonderful cottages. However, in looking to rent this year I've realized that it has changed names. It is now known as East Lake Shores.

There's hundreds of reasons to visit Prince Edward County, from the wineries and local breweries, to the incredible farm-to-table restaurants, and all the pastoral charm you can imagine, not to mention the world-famous Sandbanks Provincial Park. Whatever pleasure brings you to the County, the Sandbanks Summer Village is the place the to call home while you're there. Not only is it just minutes away from the Sandbanks itself, and Picton (PEC's largest town), it's a self-contained oasis for the whole family. Within the exclusive East Lake Community, each very well appointed and decorated cottage comes with the use of not one, but two saltwater swimming pools, a fitness center, game and movie pavilion, basketball courts, tennis courts, putting green, shuffleboard, a playground with splash pad for the kids, and that's all before you get to the beach with all the man-powered water craft. There's a lot to do right in the village itself, and the cottages are so much like home, you never need to leave! And if you're adventurous like me, there's so much nearby to explore, the least of which is the Sandbanks and the Sand Dunes themselves: the largest freshwater sand dune system in the world! Your stay at the Sandbanks Summer Village even includes a free pass to the Provincial Park, which works like an express pass so you don't have to line up with the rest of the cars (in my experience). So if you've ever wanted to explore Prince Edward County (and I highly recommend you do), you've got to stay here in Sandbanks Summer Village.

Yes, each cottage has its own propane BBQ provided by the owner of the cottage. Propane is included and if you run out, just call the front desk to initiate an exchange.

Is there a way to plug an electric car? Even 120V normal outside plug would do...
Answer from Sandbanks_SV
Cherry Valley, Canada
Regrettably, none of our individually owned cottages permit charging an electric vehicle at this time. The closest charging stations are located in Picton.
