This campground was well thought out for those who want privacy while camping. The campsites are all pretty large, some bigger than others and they are all very private sites. If you like a campground where you want to be a bit social with the neighbors then this is not the place, if you want a place you can camp with a bit of seclusion than this is exactly the place for you. All the sites have stone throughout so you don't have to worry to much about tracking dirt into your campers or worry about mud if it rains. The bathroom and shower facilities are some of the best I have seen in a campground and there are plenty of these buildings throughout the campground. My suggestion though is to make sure you do not have a site next to these facilities, specifically site 713, I really didn't care to have the bathroom facilities as my view all day. The pool area is really nice, pool is heated and pretty big but only 4 ft deep or so at the deepest. They have 2 slides, plenty of poolside chairs and a decent amount of cabanas they allow you to rent. The cabanas are pretty nice, the one I checked out had a fridge and a microwave. They also have a decent concession stand at the pool and a large arcade room. FYI this campground is very much ran like a business, you will pay for everything and its all a bit more pricey than you would find elsewhere. Overall this is a nice campground, again if you want somewhere to camp and not be bothered by anyone this is perfect for that, if you want a more social, kids running around type of place this wasnt it.

I booked this campground twice with family and friends. We had a great time, but I will not go back again. The reason for the low rating is because this location has gotten greedy over the past couple of years by skyrocketing their nightly fees. On top of that, if you book during peak time you are forced to book more than 3 nights which makes it ridiculously expensive for just offering a heated pool with slides. Definitely not worth it! There are plenty of campgrounds out there with fun things to do that offer great amenities at much more affordable rates.

Okay, let’s get the obvious out of the way. It’s simply beautiful here. The sites are huge, private, and tree-filled. Just lovely. A huge plus.

But, $145/night? Plus, $125 to lock in a specific site? And, $89 per day to rent a golf cart from 3:00pm until 11:00am the next day? Come on! It’s simply not worth it.

BUT…what really turns me off is the Christian propaganda pamphlet that is given out at check-in. When it was handed to me, the young woman stated, “This is from the owner.” Ummm, I don’t need that. While it is the owner’s right to proselytize, it is my right to be turned off and make a mental note to never return. And, to tell others. With the overall decline in Christianity, the owner would be wise to welcome ALL who enter by not handing out Christian propaganda if he hopes to continue to have people pay his exorbitant prices.

To begin our trip at Moose Hillock, after driving 6 hrs with kids and a camper, we were told we would be charged $45 for being 10-15 minutes early for check in. Or we would have to leave the property for 10-15 minutes. Not a great start to a vacation. We chose Moose Hillock to have a safe, spacious vacation during this covid pandemic. The space of the sites was really nice, the fire pit was very cool with the rocks. However, the pool was not limited on amounts of people, kids were not spaced while waiting for the slides (by neither markers on ground or the staff sitting at the slides). We saw many people not wearing masks in the store or arcade, including the staff. We have been to other campgrounds who’s restrictions were much safer. The pool is really big and cool, kids loved that, but we had to limit our pool time to the morning because of how crowded it would get. They had some activities for kids, however some cost even more money. Laundry was $20 in quarters for 3 loads which was inconvenient. The app they use for credit cards would not work, and the staff informed us they can not help with the app. Also had to have quarters to use the showers! The golf carts were very nice, and well kept, and the staff was always working on trying to keep the roads smooth after rain. I do not think we would return to Moose Hillock after having been to other campgrounds around Lake George with much more to do for the same price that did not nickel and dime for everything.

Called a month in advance, booked a site close to amenities, we arrive and they could not honor our site because another family “booked for more nights”, which basically means the more you spend the better you’re treated. They moved our site towards the back of the camp ground, it was difficult to walk that far with two young kids. Areas are not paved, kids had a difficult time riding their bikes on gravel. Bathrooms were okay, but you had to pay for showers. Large dead standing tree in our site, scared it was going to fall during our stay. Site water had a funky smell to it. Not able to join WiFi. This place wouldn’t be anything without the large pool. Employee named Jim was cool. Owners logic was missing, called the camp ground a “hotel”...I hope he realizes that it’s not a hotel. Kids playground was a splinter mess. Owner said he has the right to change our site at any time, and I have the right to give a 0 star review.

I was referred to Moose Hillock by a friend who raved about how fun and family friendly it was after visiting. Desperately needing a quick getaway, I booked a campsite for my family and I for a few nights. From check in to check out our stay was amazing! We only interacted with checkin and pool staff who were kind and accommodating. The pool was warm and so much fun, the park was fun too. Lots of little ones enjoying themselves there and at the theatre. We liked how close it is to Lake George Village for a trip there. The restrooms and showers are super clean- the cleanest I have ever seen at any campsite. The shower costs 50 cents for about 5 minutes- I don’t understand why some people complained in the reviews about that. I would recommend this place highly.

We made a big mistake by only booking 2 nights at this campground. We had never been to Lake George and now that we’ve visited, we know that you could easily spend a week here. Now we know for next time.

Moose Hillock is amazing! While there are a ton of sites and the place is massive, each site feels very private. There are lots of large trees and plenty of shade. The sites are gravel, so minimal dirt was tracked into our camper. There was a nice, big firepit and the picnic table was extra-long and like new. Check in was a breeze and there is no need to stop to check out unless you rented a golf cart during your stay.

Sites are assigned upon arrival. We booked a full hookup site and the electric, water, and sewer worked fine. We were lucky enough to land a site with a field behind it. Our frisbee-loving dog was so happy!

We did not go to the pool because dogs are not permitted, and we won’t leave our dogs alone in the camper. However, the pool is huge, heated, has waterslides and cabanas, and a poolside snack and bar (for the adults). There’s also a large arcade. If you have kids, they will love this place.

Finally, the campground is just a short ride from all the attractions Lake George has to offer. It is a very well-situated base camp. We had a great stay, and we will be back.

We spent the week of 4th of July in a Deluxe Cabin Rental. The cabin was clean and as stated online did not include bed linens, towels, kitchenware, etc. There were trash cans in both the kitchen & bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen size bed that although it was a memory foam mattress, it was less than comfortable to sleep on so we took the mattress from the pull out sofa and added that under our mattress. It helped a little.

We rented a golf cart for our stay. They do not go over 5mph and was handy going to get wood from the store and to the pool. It was also fun decorating the golf cart and driving in the 4th of July Golf Cart Parade!

Campground Pros:
Very clean
Friendly staff
Large heated pool with water slides (kids loved)
Restrooms are clean
Well stocked store with camping items, souvenirs, milk, bacon, eggs, butter etc. along with some dry goods

Campground Cons:
None that I can think of!

Suggestions:
*If a couple of the cabins were made to be pet friendly that would have been ideal to bring our fur babies along with us.
*Adding a coffee pot, toaster and pans to the cabin would be a huge plus and if any were missing after check out, charge the renter for replacement.

We enjoyed our 6 night stay and though the campground doesn't have a long list of activities daily for the kids, it was a good thing. We used the campground as our base to explore Lake George and during our down time, the kids were actually kids again (unplugged from the internet) and played with each other and their friends. Many complain about the religious pamphlet handed out with the welcome packet. Yes it was in ours and if you're not into it, don't read it. Plain and simple. Didn't bother us at all.

We will return again!

This place is everything that it says it is plus more. The sites are very spacious and large.

The fireplaces are made out of stone and awesome and what can I say when you have full hookup you are glamping.

The pool are was very large. The water slides We're perfect for all ages fast and fun. The deepest part of the pool is 4 feet with it being 3.7 on either side from where the water slides drop into. The walk into the water is gradual and perfect for small children and babies as you walk in gradually getting deeper. There are plenty of stairs for entrance and exit into the pools and plenty of areas to sit in the water around the pool. There are also many many areas 4 seating around the pool

We opted to rent the golf cart for 9 people which worked out perfectly for different runs back and forth from the pool. They have a small arcade and activities for the children nightly. The playground is also very nice.

This will be our family vacation from now on. Kudos to the park and staff

Site 716 and 717 July 10-14.

Linda

My family was excited to visit Moose Hillock NY all year because they love the pool and Lake George area. When I reserved our site, I clearly stated how many people would be on our site, how many days and that we wanted to reserve a golf cart as well. I paid the balance so we were ready to go without having to pay anything when we arrived. A few months later, my son in law called to add an additional golf cart for him, my daughter and their 2 children who would be staying on our site. The person who reserved the golf cart mis understood and charged him for another site. For which he paid in full. When I received an email confirming, it stated we had a balance to pay. I called to find out what was going, I was told that the person taking the booking made an error and that this young lady would speak to her manager to see if she could get the fees removed as it wasn't our error. I revived a call back from a woman who said we were responsible to pay the balance our they would remove the extra golf cart. I asked if I could speak to a regional manager. She said they could not be reached because they come in at certain times. I googled the regional manager and found their linked in site, looked for a phone number ( none listed) then looked on the Moose Hillock Facebook page where a person with the same name as the regional manager listed on Linked in. I sent a message asking if she was still the regional manager at Moose Hillock. I shortly the after received a phone call from Ed Paradis asking me what has taken place. Since he had the same last name as the regional manager, I assumed he was in a position of authority and explained what happened. He said I had to pay the balance or they would cancel a golf cart or the site. This is where we see the level of disregard and disrespect for the patrons of Moose Hillock. Ed went on to tell me that the error was ours, not his staff and that he was going with what his staff said because "he has to work with them all summer". Mind you, I've already paid over $500 and my son in law has already paid over $200. He then asked me how he found the regional manager information. I could hear Sara in the background denying the linked in account. They were obviously upset that I was trying to follow proper protocol to receive help with an issue. They deleted our entire registration and left us without a place to vacation for that very weekend just 4 days before we were to leave. All over a $70 error. The money was more important than their customer's needs. This is not a couple who run a hospitality business with their focus in the right place. It's all about the money to them and went above and beyond to make me feel uncomfortable. My family will never come to Moose Hillock NY again.
