Staff: Everyone was friendly and provided great service.

Dining: Chef Alex and staff bring an updated selection of cuisine. He and Danielle the manager and our servers gave us personal attention. Dinners were amazing and breakfast buffet had a good selection. Nightly entertainment was provided. There’s also a coffee corner with quick bites.

Room: The King Balcony room was super clean and included a flat screen with Dish, a coffee maker, mini-fridge, hair dryer, safe, and comfortable bedding. The balcony facing west offered beautiful sunset views. There are no elevators, so pack smaller bags that you can carry upstairs easily.

Property: Ample free parking. The front had a pond that they’ve filled in and plan to rebuild a more functional space. It has patio sitting areas, and the rear includes a deck overlooking the canyon. It’s an ideal place to host an event or a wedding – ask for Desiree, she’s fantastic. It’s pet-friendly and family-oriented with games in the front lobby and a social area seated around a fireplace. The Tavern lounge has a full bar, video poker, and pool table, with a view of the hillside and canyon below.

Activities: Few minutes’ drive to areas like the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway, Lee Canyon Ski Resort, several picnic areas, and trailheads.

Summary: With updates in progress, the employees are excited about the changes and it’s only going to get better. We give 4 stars with potential for 5 once it’s remodeled and fully functional for our next visit.

We just recently stayed, (within two weeks here at this motel. It has gotten worse. The only thing about being handicap friendly is the front door, there is nothing else that is handicap friendly.
There is NO elevator to the second floor. Our room was a king size room. Wires were hanging off the TV. They had no cable tv connection. You would think with the virus problem the room would be clean, not. They did not reset the phone after the last people left, message light was blinking and could not be reset, had to unplug the phone. The restaurant was on limited menu and setting. Staff was great when someone was there. The coffee services along with the restaurant was not open until well after 8 AM. Room was very run down, and I was folded after the second floor was modernize the first floor would be sometime later. I realize it takes time to re-open, but the basic services should be open. No curtain in our room along with no doors to the cloth’s closets. Again, staff was doing the best they could.
No screen door on the balcony sliding glass drawer. The kitchen ran out of some types of dinner items, not there fault they cold not get re-supplied that day.

The Retreat on Mount Charleston is in a great location at the edge of the Spring Mountain National Recreation Area, and the property has sweeping views of rocky peaks. However, that's the best part about it. I got to the resort late at night, and had to wait over 15 minutes until the front desk attendant got back to the desk to check me in. And she wasn't remorseful about making me wait ether. The other workers there were nice and helpful though. The restaurant was having a musician play, and it seemed like the guests were having a great time. I appreciated that. However, I didn't appreciate having to wait for that long to receive service. Plus there is no elevator, which is inconvenient, especially for guests that have disabilities. I got a room with a balcony that had majestic sweeping views, but the room wasn't well insulated from the noise of the other guests. That was annoying, but I had headphones luckily. The Apple Smart TV was a nice plus though, and the king bed was actually comfortable, I slept well that night. But remodeling clearly needs to be done throughout the property. There was paint that was chipping away at multiple spots throughout the room and balcony, with graffiti even inscribed in a wood beam above the bed. Plus there was no microwave, even though there was a fridge, which was an inconvenience since I brought frozen food with me. So early in the morning, I visited the restaurant to eat, and the wait was much longer than it should have been. I left after waiting for 10 minutes without receiving any service at all. And there was again no front desk attendant when I went to check out, so I just dropped my room keys on the desk and left. So there were clearly things about the Retreat that deserved demerits, and this place deserves the 3 stars it averages. But despite that, I think 1 star is too harsh. There were the positives that I listed above, and the rates aren't unreasonable either. Despite all the negatives about this place, I would be open to returning here, in part because lodging is not plentiful up there. I'd hope that the hotel undergoes remodeling by the time I return.

Your Resort looks beautiful from the outside....but that's about it!! Upon check-in on Monday February 13th the key cards to our room (106) did not work! The maid let us in without an I.D. We had 4 different of your staff try to get the tv working and it would not work. We were switched to another room (114). The refrigerator did not work (my wife needs to keep her medication cold) and the toilet seat was loose and was leaking at the base! The bedding on the beds had no mattress covers on them!
We had come for a romantic Valentine holiday that turned into a nightmare!! In the dining room for dinner we were served $12.00 dollar a glass wine in clear plastic cups. The ribeye I ordered medium rare was so tough I couldn't cut it. My wife had a caesers salad with steak that was full of gristle. When we questioned the waiter about the wine glasses he said it was his second day working there and that all of the wine glasses were dirty! We could visibly see wine glasses behind the bar in the dining room. Even the water we were served was in the same plastic cups! Needless to say....our romantic experience was awful !!
Your place is very expensive and wasn't worth it!! We will never recommend your Resort to anyone and everytime someone asks how our 2023 Valentines Day went we will tell them how BAD our experience was!!!

My wife and I stayed here for our 15th anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I am giving this place 5 stars because of the serenity, cleanliness and hospitality. If you are used to certain creature comforts or always being pampered, then this isn't the place for you. This is rustic and as such, you will sometimes be required to break a sweat to enjoy the serenity.

Now for some of the heads up you will need to make your decision:

There are no elevators, you will have to lug your suitcases up a couple flights of stairs to the top (3rd floor) room if you chose one. If you can't do stairs then get a first floor room. They do offer help with your bags, so all is not lost, just request this.

The bar and the restaurant are not open all day. The restaurant sort of closes down at 7:30 (if you make it there before then you will be ok) and the bar starts closing up around 8pm. Again, if you happen to be there before then it will be ok. It's not like they will run you out.

It states spa as one of the amenities, but it wasn't while we were there. No problem for us, but you may want to ask.

What you do get:

1. Incredible views, it is almost alien how unique this place is.
2. Incredible walking trails
3. Incredible, beautiful drive up to a ski resort not far away.
4. Great restaurant in a beautiful room.
5. Our room had a small balcony which at least allowed us to view the stars at night and the sunrise in the morning.
6. You are only about 30 miles or so from Vegas, so you can still drive in and do a show if you want.

Incredible place, maybe we will come back for our 30th!

We travelled to the Inn from out of state. We were surprised to find the pond out front had been filled in with sand and gravel and not at all what the internet pictured. Also, the internet is very deceptive when picturing the rooms. I don’t know who’s room is pictured but it certainly wasn’t ours. Keep moving if you want even an average room. Ours was extremely derelict and in great need of renovation. The food and service was decent but limited in choices. The setting is stunning and the common areas are decent. The place is very rustic. Beware of the $35 early check in fee even if you show up at 3pm when check in is at 4pm. There is also a late check out fee. Don’t expect to open the window as ours was broken. Also the hotel is not handicap accessible. All in all it’s a good property in need of major renovation . I wouldn’t choose to return in its present state.

I booked a place for 2 nights. I hoped I will work remotely and hike. I found that there no Wi-Fi, correctly there are Wi-Fi but no internet. I wasn’t able to upload even a webpage. On the reception they told that’s because they are in mountains. Such a poor excuse. At night from the noon till 2 am other guest was checking in over me and I haven’t sleep half of the night because walls and ceiling very think. The floor is creeping.
After one night at 9 am I asked to refund me one day and I will find a new place as I can’t work without internet and sleep as they don’t have any quite hours policy. They told me okay but they can’t do this, I need to contact Expedia as I booked through them. I left the property and returned keys, after I found internet connection and went back to Vegas I reached Expedia. They Expedia contacted to the property and they refused to authorized any refund. Such a dishonest and snide administration of this Retreat place. I am going to call the bank. I hope you will never have such a bad experience with such a snide people.

My husband and I attempted to stay here to celebrate our anniversary. We checked in, brought our things to the room and then left to go explore for a few hours.

When we returned, we had dinner in the restaurant and had to constantly shoo the flies away from our plates. My food was good up until the flies landed on it so many times that I wasn’t going to eat it anymore. My husbands steak was over-cooked and tough. We went to the bar after dinner and my husband was going to play one of the poker machines however, the ATM was down. We were told someone would be there soon to fix it but that was not the case. We were then informed we could get cash from the front desk and they would just add it onto our room charge. That took 3-4 hours for them to complete the transaction! We later found out the ATM had been down for days.

Then, the worst of all, we returned to our room and discovered that every single piece of furniture had stains all over them! Not just a tiny stain, several large spots on all of it! The grout in the shower was black, the gas fireplace had no logs and there were no knobs on the bedroom ac unit so we had to unplug it to turn it off! It was unacceptable for a $300/night room! We immediately gathered our belongings and checked out and went home!

They said they are adding a hotel spa and a swimming pool but I think the rooms need to be completely refurbished first before spending money on other amenities. This was not a romantic anniversary getaway by any means!

I just recently had my wedding here and the front desk staff in addition to the General Manager, Steve, was incompetent and rude. There is a laundry list of reasons why myself and all the guests that stayed for my wedding had a poor experience. From inattention to the liability of not having rooms available for the elderly and handicapped, to all televisions not working, phones not working, fire alarms hanging from the ceiling not working, etc. etc. The initial events coordinator, Desiree also did a poor job and if it wasn't for the Banquet Manager, Sam, our wedding would have probably been terrible. Desiree had poor communication and did not follow through on some of the items we had asked for in regards to our wedding even though it was in our event order. Overall, the staff has no pride in their work and spends all of their time pointing fingers at others instead of apologizing and trying to rectify the problems myself and our guests were experiencing.

Stayed 1 night during this labor day weekend. Didn't expect too much by reading other reviews, but it was pleasantly betrayed. The room was decent with Apple TV and free Wi-Fi. No microwave/fridge, but there was a coffee maker. Only problem we experienced in the room was the noise of AC. Hope it will be upgraded when renovation is completed. Restaurant didn't have too many selections which is understandable due to current COVID-19 situation, but the Chicken with creamy rice for dinner and Monte Cresto for breakfast were very good. We enjoyed patio dining with our dog.
