WOW. Where to begin. From the moment I emailed the hotel about my boyfriend and I staying at this location for our anniversary around Valentine’s Day, they out did themselves and made us feel so special. We arrived on the island around 9am and was accommodated with early check in on short notice. They surprised us multiple times! All of the staff were so friendly, patient, informative, and helpful. They helped us set up massages/facial appointments, and had our car ready for the day quickly after we called valet. They also included water in the car for us each time we had the car pulled out. The food we ate there (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) was amazing! They did not disappoint and we were very happy with the selection of food for the complementary breakfast. Our room was the city view. Although, I heard great things about ocean front view, city view was just as amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend this spot for anyone traveling with their special someone.

The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Atlantic and in walking distance to the center of the city. It is located about 10 minutes from the airport, and a there is a local bus to and from the airport that stops right outside the front door.

The staff is friendly and very helpful. Our flight landed from the U.S. at 7:00 AM; we were able to check into the hotel at 8:00 and our room was ready. We enjoyed talking to the staff members about life in the Azores, and appreciated their advice on restaurants and their arranging our car rentals for us, so that the car was delivered to the hotel and picked up when we were finished.

The Hotel has a very nice non-chlorinated indoor pool, in case it is too cold to go swimming in the sea across the street. The room is very comfortable. We had a third-floor standard double room with a balcony overlooking the water. Unfortunately, the cruise ships dock across the street, sometimes blocking that view, but, thankfully, they usually depart at night. There is no outside noise if the window is closed.

Bathrobes and slippers were provided. The Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine in the room was a nice touch, though it took a bit of an effort to figure it out.

Breakfast buffet in the morning was plentiful and filling, but, other than the fresh fruit, of average quality.

All in all a very good value, and highly recommended.

Set sail on a 1940s ocean liner in classic interiors, retro but impeccably modern, 5* service throughout, fine dining affordably priced, perfect sea front location. We flew in for the New Years dinner and dance - best decision ever. Charming island, excitingly volcanic, welcoming and spectacular.

One negative - in the ample bathroom, style defeats practicality - no seating other than the toilet, not enough hooks for hanging clothes, lovely rain forest shower taps mysterious to manage, not enough towels supplied.

Stayed here with a group tour (why is that not an option in the question “what sort of trip was this”?) Our tour leader repeatedly emphasized we were getting an upgrade due to a overbooking at the hotel next door. Reception staff and doormen were top notch trained professionals as one sees in Europe. I adored the pool with dim lights, soft jazz music, wood deck and walls; is was so serenely quiet. I did take a dip in that ocean but didn’t care for that at all. Had room with balcony facing ocean. Rooms very tasteful but why the absence of hooks for towels? Between the robes and used towels it was difficult to find space, and they were very wet after the pool. Clearly the decorator didn’t actually have to use the bathroom with minimal hooks, oversized sink and sparse counter space.
Where the hotel falls short is the waitstaff. Our group received a welcome snack upon arrival. It was handled in quite a confusing manner. When Americans are invited to H’ors d’overs, they consider it dinner. It was so difficult to get service at the buffet table for beverages that I poured for myself only to have the waitperson rush up and exclaim ‘oh, madam, I will help you.” Same problem at breakfast but alas the coffee and water carafes were hidden from view. Before I eat I wish to have liquid to prime my palate. And absurdly they first bring the coffee; then go back for the steamed milk; then go back for the water. By the 3rd day they just left a creamer with milk at the table. The croissants were bread like, not flaky - avoid. The scrambled eggs sat too long in the warming tray, had a bit of skin over the top so I just stirred up the tray so others could enjoy.

Brilliant service, great rooms, and a perfect location to explore Ponta Delgada - you're just 5 mins walk away from the centre of the town. There is a great indoor pool area for relaxing, and the food - from the breakfast buffet to the restaurant - was also excellent. Can't fault this hotel!

Large, quiet room with a lovely view of the city. High end toiletries (conditioner included which is always a plus) and a lovely shower with a rainfall showerhead.

Chocolate dropped off in the evening before bed, a free water bottle a day, and some of the most amazing staff I have encountered. Everyone from the front desk personnel (special should out to Antonio who recommended and booked me a last minute tour and addressed me by name any time we met in the lobby) to the doormen and folks in the restaurant - all exceptional. They allowed me to check out an hour late to accommodate a tour schedule, and to shower in the gym facilities after checking out before my flight.

Breakfast was included and had plenty of options, and the outdoor seating overlooking the water was a treat in the morning. I didn't eat at the hotel otherwise with lots of local options nearby, but the bar staff was friendly and offered live music in the evenings.

The location was perfect, never more than a 10 or 15 minute walk anywhere and right in much of the action on the water.

Felt like royalty and will definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing holiday on Sao Miguel Island in the Azores thanks to the extremely helpful staff at this hotel - especially Antonio on reception! On our first night we told Antonio that we would like to do some tours of the island and, despite the fact that it was close to midnight, he booked us onto the tours we wanted within just 10 minutes! He also booked restaurants for us to eat out at over the course of the week.
On our last day when we checked out he arranged for us to use a couple of bikes and towels to go to the beach for a few hours before our flight. He then let us come back into the hotel and shower in the gym area before ordering us a taxi to the airport.
Our room had a beautiful view of the sea and the city from our balcony on which we enjoyed the evening sun.
The room was perfect and the breakfast was delicious.
The other thing that made this hotel so great was its location. It is within walking distance to the restaurants and bars in Ponta Delgada and there is a swimming area in the sea directly opposite the hotel.
We would highly recommend booking this hotel for your stay in Sao Miguel!

Unfortunately, we arrived at this hotel just as the 14 day Coronavirus quarantine took effect and had to cut short our stay, after just one evening. Not only did we miss out on our holiday but we also missed out on a wonderful hotel. We had an ocean view room which was so lovely with a really comfortable bed. Most impressive however, was the staff - every single person we came into contact with was just so kind and helpful. We can’t remember the name of the receptionist - either Sylvia or Olivia (sorry) who provided us with excellent service - helping us sort flights home etc, but we will always be grateful for her help during such a stressful time. We hope to return, just as soon as we can!

We paid for a sea view room which was rather lovely with a nice balcony, table and comfortable chairs. You could see the sea…..but the view was obscured every day by massive cruise ships. Obviously very good for the local economy but it must drive the locals nuts to some extent with the noise of alerts for passengers and then the horns!
Anyway, our room was very spacious, exceptionally clean, with a good desk and a comfortable chair,integral safe and wardrobe hanging space. However, there was just insufficient drawer space in the room which was surprising and irritating. There was a note to tell us of the 4 different types of pillows on the bed (although there was only 3). The mattress itself is memory foam and within 24 hours, both my husband and I had sciatic pain. We asked reception and housekeeping whether anything could be done as the bed was simply not supportive enough, but no-one even bothered to come back to us; they obviously couldn’t or wouldn’t do anything which was disappointing. The en suite is also spacious with a good shower and plenty of huge fluffy towels, lovely towelling robes and good toiletries. We had to ask for a non slip mat for the shower though as it was quite slippery when wet; this was not a problem though and the mat arrived promptly and definitely helped.
We only ate once in the hotel restaurant and I’m afraid we’re very disappointed. The staff seemed inattentive and simply dumped amuse buche down without explaining what it was; nobody bothered to ask about any allergy (I am intolerant to shellfish). When we asked for an explanation, no one could explain. The same happened with the starter we had which had a butter/sauce which was also a mystery that couldn’t be explained. Then the main course arrived. I’d asked for a medium steak but it arrived bloody and was really tough; I couldn’t eat it and I have no idea what was in the accompanying salad but that was fairly inedible too. In fairness, the maitre d took the cost of my dinner off the bill, but it was a very disappointing experience in a high class of hotel. We didn’t stay for dessert……
The maid service is wonderful but despite there being a notice regarding saving the planet (and us not leaving towels on the floor to be changed), all the linen was changed every day and we often ended up with 4 of everything for the 2 of us.
Breakfast has a good variety of cereals and fruit plus the usual continental breakfast foods. Hot breakfast left a lot to be desired; congealed scrambled egg, undercooked streaky bacon and Portuguese sausage plus baked beans and maybe mushrooms….but same thing every day. Some fried eggs or an omelette would have made a change.
The bar staff and reception were usually very helpful and friendly and the hotel is well positioned for the town but we wouldn’t stay here again I fear……for the price we paid, we didn’t have a great stay and will still need to get over the pain in our hips and joints from the bed!

We stayed here over Christmas and found the hotel to be extremely welcoming and comfortable. Staff is very helpful, food in the restaurants (very important since most other restaurants were closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) was excellent, and the rooms very comfortable. Nice views over the waterfront and an easy walk into town. The hotel faces an enormous public swimming complex (both pools and even an option to swim in an enclosed harbor area) that would be nice options in warmer weather but there is also a nice indoor pool and gym area. COVID measures are enforced (limited #s in gym, pool and on elevators; masks in public areas).
