Returned last Friday after a week at the resort. This was our 3rd visit. As others have said, you will not meet anyone more warm, welcoming or wonderful than Walter & Rita. It's like you're family & they are genuinely glad to see you. Rita actually emailed me a few days before our scheduled arrival to inform the cabin we reserved was empty so if we wanted to come a day early we could with no added charge. It didn't work out but was very thoughtful.

The cabins are a little tired but you need to know what you're getting into & don't set the bar so high. It's part of the charm. No TV, phone or AC. Not a problem for me. We were a little too far away from the office so the wifi didn't even work! Again, not a problem. Beds are a little old & on the small side but again, it's what you expect. Our cabin had all the dishes, pots/pans, silverware (we only had 3 forks, though--LOL) Not a problem, I just washed dishes once a day & it was not problem at all.

The docks are right there. They have electric to plug in the trolling motors. The store is well stocked, fish fry is great. The little town of Seeleys Bay is quaint.

All in all, it's a great place with even better owners!

Sunny Acres is a 1940s-style fish camp into which owner/operators Walter and Rita have ploughed much work and money. This family friendly place still has a long way to go, but is charming nevertheless. That's because Walter and Rita are so accomodating....genuinely nice folks with interesting stories and backgrounds.

We came by boat and stayed one night. Walter and Rita prepared a dinner for the six of us which was beyond outstanding....the entre' culled from their former lives in Switzerland. The box lunches prepared for whien we were on the water were great, too.

Sunny Acres has marine fuel and @ 3 feet depth at the floating docks. There's also fuel and a marina just off the Rideau Waterway in Seeley's Bay, if you need a deeper draft. "Town" with its limited services, including a liqour store, is an easy walk.

My husband's & I have been going to Sunny Acres for the last 35 years for the first week of bass fishing. Along with other family members. It is a family friendly place. Walter & Rita have a weekly fish fry and fishing contest. We love going there to relax, fish and have fun. The children have a nearby park to play. We also had the festive activities of their "Dominion Day" on July 1st. It has been a long tradition of fishing for our family. Now we take the grandson along.

Booked this place with 20 friends to enjoy a boating vacation on the beautiful Rideau Canal system. We received a friendly greeting on arrival by the owner. Cabins were in ill repair. Cabin #8 has three double beds jammed side by side in a small room without air conditioning. Windows are rotting. Kitchen linens were stained. Don't move the furniture for fear of what you might find underneath. Very few amenities (like cutlery). Did not supply towels as advertised. There are permanent residents living in some of the adjacent cottages. Electrical issues with base board heaters left on accidently. Some bedding appeared stained/worn. We rented an additional cabin to accommodate our group. We were charged $150/night plus cleaning fee. One of the bedrooms appeared to have been slept in (bed not made). The door would not completely close so we had to hang a blanket to keep the bugs out. Goose dung throughout the property. Smell of raw sewage from trailers parked adjacent to cottages draining septic tanks into one of our cottages. Sorry to have to give this business a poor rating but definitely not up to tourism standards.

Cabins are in dire need of maintenance. Beds, bedding and pillows are old and musty smelling. Only one towel for the cabin. Grounds are wet and full of goose droppings. Waterfront is overcome with weeds, docks are old and in need of repair. Online pictures were from a time when someone took care of it.

I stayed at the Sunny Acres Resort & Marina in the summer as part of a group and had a thoroughly enjoyable week their in the hands of the two Swiss owners, Rita and Walter. They are the masters of making visitors welcome, with kindness, wonderful food and hospitality.

The property has a series of lodges located around the waters edge, all of which are cosy and ideal located for those wishing to partake in fishing, with easily accessible moorings located on the grounds.

The reception/office area also has a well stocked store of outdoor and fishing gear, so there is no need to worry if you have left any items behind at home.

The owners make their own maple syrup and well worth sampling and/or purchasing once you have left their warm embrace.

I love this place. This year was the first year I had visited, and let me tell you, I will be back for many years to come. Walter, and Rita are the nicest, friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The cabins are perfect, the fishing is great, and the atmosphere is wonderful!! I miss the place already, and can't wait to get back again in August. Every Wendsday they have a fishing contest/fish fry. The food is awesome, plus they have live music during the fish fry!! I would recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a relaxing, fun time.

Terrible! Total disarray! Reviews have to be from earlier times. Many buildings occupied by permanent residents, lots of junk piled around cabins. Not sure how the municipality hasn’t investigated!!!!

We love Sunny Acres. Walter and Rita make this place feel so much like home. Their hospitality is 1st class. And some of the best fishing around. We are now regulars, going at least once every summer. It's a very quiet and relaxing vacation stay, every time.
